  • Why does it sometimes take a song months to become popular or reach #1?

I ve been noticing this a lot lately. A song hits the charts or hits #1 long after it s been released as a single.

    Examples:

"Ex s & Oh s" by Elle King was released in September 2014, but didn t get popular until late 2015.

"Stressed Out" by Twenty One Pilots was released in early 2015, and is just now appearing on the charts.

"Take Me to Church" by Hozier was released in September 2013, but didn t get much exposure until the latter half of 2014.

Perhaps you guys have theories, and I m curious. This trend is interesting to me.

  • Question about rubber bands for braces?

I just received rubber bands for my braces today, and I have to wear them for six weeks. The dentist told me to change them every 2 hours, or 4-6 times a day. However, this seems rather extreme. I did some research, and most sources say either 3 times a day or once a day is fine. So, what is a solid amount of times per day that I should change them? I was thinking 3 times would be good, and that way I could easily just change them after every meal. Once a day seems like too little.

  • Why do we use contraction phrases like "isn't it" and "don't you"?

I never understood why these phrases are common in the English language. For example, in a question like "Don't you know about that?", if you take apart the contraction, the question is "Do not you know about that?", which makes no sense at all. And in the question "Isn't it great?", taken apart it is "Is not it great?". Could these contractions possibly originate from older English speaking habits? Why is it that when these contractions are taken apart they don't sound right, whereas other contraction phrases like "Don't eat after midnight" (do not eat after midnight) or "That isn't right" (that is not right) make sense when taken apart? If someone could solve this confusion that would be great :)

  • How can I transfer a song from my iPhone to my computer?

So, I downloaded some songs on my iPhone from the iTunes app, and I was wondering if there was a way to transfer the MP3s to my computer. I've looked around and I can't really find an answer on how to do this. Help would be appreciated.

  • What would happen if someone ate a chunk of wasabi?

I always wondered this, because when eating wasabi at Japanese restaurants, just a little is enough to stimulate that strong burning sensation. So I came to thinking, if just a little bit of a wasabi is that much of a kick, would the human body be able to resist eating a medium or large-sized chunk of it? I'd imagine it would have really bad consequences. I can't really find much information on this on Google and I'm curious. Thanks in advance!

  • PayPal won't let me use up the balance on a Visa gift card?

I've been doing some Christmas shopping on Paypal recently, and using up some old Visa gift cards I've had as presents that I never used up. However, there's like $1.50 left on one of my cards, and when I try to use up that $1.50 on a purchase, it gives me this error:

This transaction couldn't be completed. Please redirect your customer to PayPal.

I tried making the purchase today on a different card that actually had enough balance on it to buy what I was buying and it worked. The thing is though, I still want to use up that other card instead of it just sitting around collecting dust. What can I do to fix this?

  • Why do married couples often hate their in-laws?

I noticed it's common for married couples to hate their in-laws. But why? What did they ever do to them? I'm not married or anything so I wouldn't know, but I'm curious.

  • Why is the show Whose Line Is It Anyway called that?

Like, I never understood what the name of the show had to do with the show itself. The show focuses on improvisational games. What does this have to do at all with the title? I'd like to know because this has been pondering me for a long time. Thanks!

  • How do I update my iPhone 3?

I've noticed recently I really have to update my iPhone 3 to the new iOS. I can't download any new apps, and neither can my dad, because we have to update to the new iOS. I know I have to download iTunes, but is there a way on iTunes to update to the newest iOS without losing all my app data? I've put some hard work into some of my apps and I don't want to lose it. Instructions would be nice. Thanks! :)

  • What's the actual definition of "ratchet"?

I'm not exactly keen on teen slang, and I've heard mixed definitions for the word ratchet. One person told me it means someone who's wild. Another definition said it describes a trashy, slutty girl. What is the actual definition of it?

  • What is the point of algebra and geometry?

I mean, admittedly, we do need simple math in the real world, such as money and taxes, but what is the point of learning algebra and geometry? We never use those complex formulas in the real world. Why do we learn them?

  • So what is the big deal about chewing gum anyway?

I never understood what the big deal was about it. I admit it's tasty and all, but why do some people NEED to chew it daily? Is it addiction?

Like, one day at school, this girl's gum fell out of her mouth, and she asked her brother for another piece desperately. Honestly, if I was her, I would just continue on with life.

And another time when this kid almost BEAT UP another kid because he didn't give him gum.

Anyways, can someone explain to me why lots of people need to chew gum daily and frequently? Thank you!

  • Question about lyric in the song "The Weight" by The Band?

In the chorus, I am unsure if the lyric is "Take a load off Annie, take a load for free" or "Take a load off Fanny, take a load for free". Does someone have the official lyrics and can tell me which one it is? Many lyrics sites differ between the two. Thanks!

  • One of my pet fish has been lying down on gravel while breathing for several days, help?

One of my pet fish, a dalmatian molly breed, has been lying down on the gravel for several days. The weird thing is, it's still breathing. I moved the net towards it to see if it was close to dying or not, but it turns out he still has some speed left in him, he just swims near the bottom. We have another fish of this species that has been standing by him as this has been happening, so I'm assuming that the same species stick with each other.

Anyways, I read somewhere a long time ago that when a fish does this, they are sick, but I just want clarification. Thanks in advance!
