  • Marriage breaking up over grown kids?

A friend has been married for 6 years and her husband didn't tell his grown children, he was getting married at the time. His kids now are 25, 24 and 22 and they resent my friend because she is the new wife. My friend resents the kids because of the guilt trips they put on him and they use him for money, and anything they can get out of him. Her marriage is on the rocks because of this. Is her husband wrong for putting his grown kids before his wife?

  • My 10 year old daughter was just sexually harrassed?

...by her 10 year old male playmate and neighbor. She said he has told her he has a "crush" on her and has grabbed at her bottom and chest. Today, she was in her bedroom and he exposed himself to her from the sidewalk outside. I keep walking to his apartment to confront his parents, but no one is home. What should we do?

  • What to do when a co-worker ....?

Coughs! Not just a dry, little, normal cough due to cold, but a deep, loud, gurgling death-rattle cough! Sounds like her lungs are completely filled with mucus and the coughs are so wet and gross. I usually wear my earbuds and listen to music, but I can still hear it.

She is in her mid-70's and smokes like a chimney. Our workstations are very close. Everyone else in our aisle is grossed out too and we don't know what to do. It is nauseating. Especially, when some of us eat lunch at our desks.

She is very nice and I would never do or say anything mean to her, but I was thinking about saying something to our boss, but what can he do?? He is probably grossed out too. Is there any precedent for a situation like this?

  • Ideas for 5th grade Science Fair Project?

After much grief, my daughter and I found the perfect project - the phenakistiscope, (movie wheel). Unfortunately, the teacher won't accept it because the scientific method doesn't apply. Any ideas for a simple, but unique 5th grade science project?

  • Has anyone else noticed this about tv commercials in the US?

If you pay attention to tv commercials, you will noticed that the majority of them feature a "dumb" white person, and a "smart" African American. Usually, the commercial will start with the white guy or gal, struggling with something...then the black guy or girl comes up and sets them straight with the featured product. Example - there is a Blackberry commercial that uses this format. There are more and more all the time.

I am not racist or anything, just wondering if anyone else noticed and if so, why do you suppose advertisers are doing this?

  • does fish oil help kids concentrate?

My 10 year old is struggling with staying focused on homework and sometimes has complete meltdowns getting frustrated saying she can't do it.

She is very smart, (she is in a gifted program at school and always tests in the above average range on standardized tests). I am wondering if she may just have trouble concentrating

  • Question about Emma Pillsbury on Glee TV Show?

Did anyone catch the 9/7/09 episode of Glee in which the germophobe guidance counselor Emma explained what caused her phobia? Something about her brother pushing her into something on a dairy farm....we couldn't make out what she said. I would really appreciate if you could tell me. Thanks

  • Ever been "fired" from your doctor as a patient?

I received a letter from my primary doctor stating that since I failed to keep recent appointments, he is no longer going to accept me as a patient at all.

The first time I didn't show was because I had a migraine - I didn't even go to work that day. The second time I called to cancel a little more than 24 hours in advance.

I am really mad. Is this all about money to him or what?

  • How do you get a dried, flour and water mixture out of hair?

My daughter's summer camp had a "messy day" today and threw this goo made of water and flour all over the kids. My daughter's hair has this dried junk in her hair now and it is the consistency of glue! We have already tried water and shampoo - any other ideas?

  • 401k hardship withdrawal for home purchase?

My offer to buy my first home has been accepted. Now I have to come up with all of these inspection costs (pre-paids) right now and I don't have it! Can I use 401k hardship withdrawal money for this as well as general expenses of the home purchase, (ie the move, down payment, appliances)? Or can I only withdraw the amount showing on the contract as the down payment?

    thanks

  • Diseased oak tree..."tumor" things on branches?

We are interested in buying a home, but the only tree in the back yard is a huge oak tree with hundreds of these baseball-size, irregular shaped tumors on the branches. They are called gouty oak galls. Does anyone know if these will kill the tree? Will we have an infestation of wasps/insects? Should we not buy the house because of this?

I think just about every pair of pants I buy have a belt attached! How do you store them so they are easy to access and organized??? We currently use a hanger, but there are way too many belts and if we need one on the bottom, we have to remove all of the ones on top to get to it. Any ideas?

  • Will I be held responsible for any debts or unpaid student loans my husband had before we were married?

My husband has unpaid student loans, (prior to our marriage), and unpaid fed taxes, (since our marriage). If we were to divorce, or if he were to pass away, would I be responsible for them?? Also, we are planning on buying a house on my credit. If something happens to him, can anyone take the house from me to pay his debt??
