Question to Muslims: Translation of Qur'an - Writing notes within it?
I have an English Translation of the Qur'an. I am reading it to gain a better understanding of my Muslim neighbors and what they believe. Greater understanding leads to tolerance. I have a question regarding what is considered "respectful". I have my own Study Bible that I make notations in. Would it be considered disrespectful if I made notations in this translation of the Qur'an? If a Muslim saw my copy, and saw that I made notes within it, would they be offended?
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDo those who believe Evolution is NOT a THEORY, but a NATURAL LAW:?
I sincerely ask this.
Have you read scientific journals by evolutionists? By evolutionists who decades ago came up with punctuated equilibrium, because the fossil record showed something, and they needed to REWORK their theory. Punctuated equilibrium is but one example. What about Neo-Darwinism? Why did this recently arise, if it was already a LAW. Laws of the universe don't need reworking. When a theory has been confirmed, THEN it becomes a law. That's the way science works.
But they are still working on it. EVOLUTIONISTS themselves believe it to be a theory, and constantly work to improve it. I'm not challenging evolutionists here. I'm challenging those who think it's a "Law" or "Fact"
My post with just a few quotes regarding what they themselves say about it being a theory (Scroll down to the references)
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoMuslims: Question regarding Al-Qur'an, and where to Begin Reading on Particular subject?
I wish to be as respectful as possible. I am a Christian. I do NOT ask this to challenge your beliefs. I figure that the more I know about others beliefs, the more tolerant I can be about their faith; and the better informed I am.
In the Bible, I enjoy reading the book of "Hebrews" and after that Romans. The reason, is that Paul logically offers reasons for explaining why the Mosaic law had to be done away with, and tries to provide many sound logical reasons and rationalities to the Jewish Christians.
Are there any books in Al-Qur'an that are *similar* in flavor to the book of Hebrews? That are books where Mohammad discusses his reaons and rationalities? Though I may not share it, I want to know more about my faith. (See my other question to see that I am someone who asks things such as this in sincerity)
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoMuslims: Question regarding being "annointed" or "chosen" / Christ?
Hmm. Well, I don't personally mean to annoy any Muslim here, but ask this question to try to better understand your beliefs so we can have greater tolerance between one another. I wanted to ask a question of my own, because I wanted to frame it in a respectful way.
At the moment, I my understanding of the Islamic faith is that it does believe that Jesus was a prophet, the human son of Joseph and Mary.
My question is regarding a word we use "Christ". According to Thayer's Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament, page 672 from the original Koine Greek manuscripts of the Bible it means "Annointed". In the Bible, it is used w/ the prophet Moses, as well as other Kings of Israel. They were annointed. Moses, was the "Christ" or "annointed" one of God, the mericful at that time.
Is this something that you would agree with? In other words, given that definition, would you be able to say that yes, in that sense, Jesus was a Christ since you already believe him to be one of the prophets?
