Question to Muslims: Translation of Qur'an - Writing notes within it?

If someone is upset/insulted/has feelings of disrespect with you for writing notes and underlining things in a translated copy of the Quran (while trying to learn and understand!) then they need to get out their copy and read it again for themselves.

Bravo to you for trying to keep an open mind and understand something that many others are hostile towards. Just reading the Quran will help you understand some of the little things Muslims do that seem so weird or different. A suggestion: read up a little on the ethnic culture of your neighbors as well. With any religious practice or non- practice, many actions/traditions can be attributed to culture more so than religion.

Not at all - no offence should be taken. My Shaikh used an English translation of the Qur'an with the Arabic and I found highlights, notes and underlines all over it. I think it's great to do so because it helps one gain a deeper understanding.

Absolutely not. You need to edit translation as current translations are inaccurate. Quraan needs a change in the Arabic test and some Muslims will soon embark on this task.

Well, if you know what is religious tolerance, and if u think that the contents will never offend any Muslims, if you are a Muslim, then I am sure no Muslims, will ever be offended.

I would think that your understanding of the philosophy holds more meaning than the pages it was written on.

It's just a book. No reason to treat it like an idol. I think most religion teaches against that anyways.

Well it depends..the way it is...But you cant change the meaning.. .i don't think it is offended...by any Muslim...AS Allah SWT says :-

But those who did wrong changed the word which had been told them for another saying, and We sent down upon the evil-doers wrath from heaven for their evil-doing.Surah: 2 - Al-Baqara , - Ayah: 59
