  • Adobe Creative Suite upgrade?

Hopefully some one can help. I've been given a mac with installed design software. The mac came from a design agency who've been liquidated and no longer exist, the mac was purchased as part of the 'sell off'.

The software is CS2 (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Version Cue and Go Live - All CS2), but I want to upgrade to CS3. If I purchase the relevant upgrade discs, do I use the existing CS2 serial number or do the upgrade discs come with a new serial? Don't really want to go down the route of contacting Adobe!

  • WORD. How do you stop it changing text style through out a document?

I'm designing a document in Word so that the client can then edit it at a later date without having to come back to myself each time, thus saving time and money.

My beef with the programme is that it keeps updating the text on pages way back in the document when I detail some text on a totally different page. I don't use the style set apart from when I want to 'clear styles'. I know the prog is trying to help me out, but I wish it would let me decide which text to alter and not itself!!!

  • NEC bike show 2009, is it worth the entrance fee?

Hi, I have the chance of a lift to the NEC this Saturday as someone I know is going to Clothes Show Live and fancied having a look around the Bike Show, which is on at the same time.

I usually go every year with my mates, but this year because Honda and Harley weren't making an appearance my friends didn't want to go. So the question is, is it worth the entrance fee of £17 to look at the bikes. I don't need any gear or clothes so I'm not after any bargains there. Or am I better off just walking to a local bike showroom and having a 'mooch' around there for free?

  • CRB checks? Can I get one done on myself to use as a promotion for my business?

Was thinking that if I already have one in place, potential customers in vulnerable areas will have peace of mind that I'm not about to molest their kids etc.

I could then use it in my advertising?

  • Do you need any qualifications to become a self employed Painter and Decorator?

Was thinking of a career change, I really enjoy the whole DIY thing. Have no problem with heights and have produced some top results with hanging paper and painting.

So was thinking about starting my own business as a painter and decorator. Buy a van, get the kit, post some flyer's... what else does a woman need? Apart from indemnity/public liability insurance in case I spill some paint on Mrs Smiths antique rug, what else would I be needing? Do I have to have a City and Guilds or similar, do I have to join some kind of recognised authority?

  • Which semi-synthetic oil do I use in my Astra 1.8 coupe (02)?

Time for a oil and filter change. Never done one before, but my father in-law says he'll show me as long as I sort the parts. Got all my replacement filers and new plugs etc (may as well do the whole lot in one go), but haven't got the oil yet. Phone my local Vauhaull dealer who quoted me nearly £30 for 5 litres and said I needed a semi-synthetic as my car was pre '04. Obviously, I can get a cheaper oil from other places but I'm not sure which to go for, and being female, I don't want to get ripped off if I ask in store!

Many thanks for any advice x

  • f I were to redraw and existing painting in a new style, would it be breaking the owners copyright?

If i were to re-draw the Mona Lisa or another instantly recognisable portrait, but in a completely different style, ie comic book or Andy Warhol style. Would this infringe the original owners copyright?

  • Where can I get some of those psychic indicators from?

    You know the ones...

the ones that taxi drivers use when they pull over or stop. I think they get them from the same place as the Bus drivers do, which allows you to stop where-ever you like with out having to let other road users know.

I think in special cases they let delivery drivers use them too, although it may be an optional extra, the same as the special parking lights they have. Most of us call them hazzard lights, but for delivery drivers its a 'sorry, i'm parking here for a while, you'll have to wait or go around' indicator.

So if anyone knows where i can get some, I too would like to become an inconsiderate asswipe on the road ;)

  • Is the FA Cup an English competition?

Only, how come Cardiff City are allowed to enter?

The last time I checked the map, Cardiff was in Wales. The Welsh have their own leagues and FA so how come they're allowed to enter an English Cup?

And how come there aren't Scottish or Irish teams entered?

  • Anyone brought one of the 'Xbox Live' for free from eBay?

Just wondered if anyone out there has actually brought one of these 'codes' from a seller on 'fleabay' and if / how they work? And how long before they close the loophole?

At £2 a go compared to £40 a year it sounds a bargain, but if you have to re-enter a code every day/week and loose your gametag then its not really worth it?

  • Which bundle do I get for of nintendo Wii?

OK, so noe the pre Xmas rush has gone and there's Wii's in them thar hills!

Which would be the best games/bundle to but to keep two girls happy, 12 and 9 years old. This is a joint Easter pressie so plenty of time to source one (hopefully!)

Burt what do I need to look out for. Extra controller/nunchuck etc and prefereably from a high street retailer (UK) and not from fleaBay. Their favourite game on the DS is Annimal Crossing if that helps? Recommendations much appreciated.

  • Is there a way of 'locking' items into a Word document?

I want to produce a Word template and add in a header and footer (which I can do) but I want to be able to lock these items into the template so they cant be deleted by another user of the same document template. Is there a way off adding logos and images etc and locking them in?

  • Sudan protesters, how do stand on your country being told to release Gillian Gibbons by a WOMAN?

Is see that you very kindly pardoned her for allowing CHILDREN to name a CHILDS TOY with (he who shall not be named).

I did notice that the protesters in the streets of Sudan were all men, are women not allowed out in your country? Well how does it feel to be defeated by a woman? The answer was no she must face the sentence until Baroness Warsi and Lord Ahmed went over, yes one of them is a woman.

  • If you take your PC to a shop to be repaired... how do you know that they wont 'clone' your hard drive?

And they possibly sell it on to someone to obtain your pass words etc.

Most of us use a PC at home and do our banking and store other important info on there. So if your PC breaks and you need to take for a repair, how do you know the data it contains wont be copied. The same data thats protected by firewalls and antivirus against attack from hackers on the internet, but yet, I'm supposed to just hand it over to some spotty little oink in a PC repair shop and entrust the dat to him/her? How do safeguard against copying?

  • Can you play PS2 games on a 40gb PS3?

Hi, my daughter wants the High School musical PS2 game for christmas but our ps2 has given up the ghost, the laser has gone again. So instead of getting it repaired I thought but a new one with 12 months guarantee. But, instead of buying a PS2 would I be better off getting a new PS3. The High s m game is only available on ps2 so will it work on the entry level ps3? We also have a few other games on the ps2 that we dont want to get rid of or re-buy.

OK, so most of us will be stuck at work when the game starts! Does anyone know if its available online (for free of course) anywhere? So we can at least watch the first half.
