  • Why does my curser jump to a corner of my monitor when I use my mouse?

I'm using a Logitech optical mouse with my HP desktop. Very often my mouse will jump to a corner of my screen all by itself while I am using my mouse. What's up with that?

  • Is science based on an irrational belief?

Is science based on the irrational belief that because we cannot preceive reality all at once, things like "time" and "cause and effect" exist?

  • Is God in control of everything?

I'm guessing this question has been asked before, but it is something that hit me this morning. I was in church today and the paster said that "God is in control" That got me to thinking about all the bad things that happen for seemingly no reason. I believe that God does not CAUSE these things to happen, but why does He ALLOW them to happen. If God is in control, does that elimnate free will? Is it because of free will that these things happen?

  • Would you say this is a fair assessment?

I have been coming to YA for a while now and have been in many areas. Most of my time has been spent in the Religion area. I found this quote in a book I was reading the other day and would you say that this is a fair assessment of this room?

  • Am I alone here?

The moderator of Thursday's Democrat presidential debate said he did not ask the mostly black audience to refrain from applauding candidates' answers, because blacks are too "emotional" to obey such a rule.

Asked by C-Span host Brian Lamb why he didn't enforce a no-applause rule for his PBS-sponsored debate like other debate formats, moderator Tavis Smiley explained: "Because black people are an emotional people. I know it wouldn't have worked."

Smiley says the black audience attending the 90-minute session at Howard University would not have listened or complied with such a request for silence, suggesting African-Americans are unable to control themselves.

He made the remarks on Friday morning's Washington Journal program aired on C-Span.

  • This dream is driving me crazy, can anyone help?

In this dream I can breath underwater, like the "man from atlantis" if you remember that tv show, and I work for the government. I'm on a mission to locate a missing submarine and I find it, but it's surrounded by dolphins. The dolpins get under the sub and start pushing it to the surface all the while singing the five notes from "Close Encounters." I'm serious, I keep having this dream!

  • Is it true that CFL's do not emit the full spectrum of light waves?

Since it has been proven that our brains react to different colors or the lack thereof, wouldn't only using CFL's be harmful?

  • I'm looking for the name of a made-for-tv movie from the late 70's, early 80's?

I don't remember much, but there was a small group of people stranded on an island. They don't remember how they got there, and they can't find a way off. They begin to compare stories and discover that every one of them had a "near death" incident, and begin to wonder if, in fact, they are all dead. That's all I can remember. I hope someone can help.

  • I am divorced. If I remarry am I committing sin?

I've been told that if I remarry I will be committing sin. I didn't want the divorce, and I fought to save the marriage. My now ex-wife however had already found someone else and I didn't have a choice. Am I sinning if I remarry or am I supposed to stay lonely the rest of my life?

  • Why are there people that think that you don't need any technical aspects in Theatre?

Yes, I know philosophically you don't need "anything" to create theatre, but realistically, without the technical aspects (by techinical, I mean lights, sound, sets, costumes, props . . .) there is no theatre. I've been told that theatre doesn't need any tech. At all. You can have naked actors in a grassy field. I ask, how many people have ever seen a completely tech-less show? I feel safe in saying no one.

I'm not coming down on actors, some of my best friends are actors. I just get a little tired of the "technical people are second class citizens" attitude I deal with with some actors in my business (I'm a lighting designer). An actor friend of mine decided one year that he was going to produce a tech-less production of a Greek play, he even asked me to be in it. "no sets, no lights, just acting in the park at night around a fire." I guess he forgot when he wanted us to provide our own costumes that that would be a technical aspect, along with the fire itself.

  • I need advice on how to reenter the dating world?

I'm 42 and divorced. My ex left me after a 22 yr marriage. She found someone with a bigger bank account. I've been on my own now for several years and have found that dating is bit different then when I was last an active dater (that would be the early 80's). It's tough when all the women I know are close to my son's age (22). It's almost funny when women tell me that age doesn't matter but then freak out if I would ask them to dinner. Another thing that I have found is that women my age are still wanting children. I have nothing against children, I've got two myself, but I was a lot younger then. Anyway, any advice would be helpful. Thanks.
