Football and boxing. And i ain't talking about American football.

  • Fighters whose career never progressed after getting their biggest win?

I was just thinking it's been a little over 2 years since Rigo made a big statement against Donaire but since then he hasn't been in any big fights due to ducking, management issues etc. Last fight was against an unknown fighter. HBO want nothing to do with him at the moment.

My question is what are some other examples of this?

BQ: Do you believe Golovkin let Monroe hit him at times in their fight?

  • Julio Cesar Chavez Sr vs Frankie Randall 1 and 2 revisited, what did you think of the outcomes?

First fight: Chavez was ahead on two cards going into the 11th before getting his 2nd point deduction and being knocked down.....

Where the two deductions for low blows fair or was he hard done by? Do you agree with the one judge who had Chavez winning 114-113 or did the right guy win?

Second fight: Who did you have winning after 8 rounds?

BQ: where does Julio Cesar Chavez Sr rank all time P4P?

  • Lucas Matthysse vs Ruslan Provodnikov, where do they go after this fight?

There's already been a few questions asking who will win but you can give your prediction if you want.

It's destined to be a great fight but what do they do after this?

Also, what are some fights that were anticipated to be a classic but failed to live up to the hype?

  • What does Freddie Roach truly believe about the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight?

I had to see others thoughts on this after seeing him constantly contradict himself in interviews.

So he says Mayweather's legs are shot. Ok fine, but in this video he says he just runs:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqhgcJHHbqg

What happened to his legs being shot?

In that video he also says he is 'ordinary', but just a month ago he was saying it's 'the biggest challenge of my life' oops...

    http://sports.yahoo.com/news/mayweather-biggest-ch...

He also admitted he would slightly favour Mayweather 5 years ago because he had better legs:

    http://sports.inquirer.net/174678/mayweather-would...

But here is him 5 YEARS AGO saying Floyd's legs have slowed:

What does Roach really think? it's hard for me to see.

  • Rigondeaux dropped twice but wins by stoppage, will this encourage the big names to fight him in 2015?

This was a entertaining fight. We all know the likes of Santa Cruz haven't been keen on taking him on in the past but after seeing some vulnerability will they finally step up?

    Here is the fight:

  • How long does a fighter have to be inactive before you take him off your P4P list?

I noticed a lot of people currently don't have Andre Ward in the top 10 p4p due to inactivity so i was just wondering how long a fighter goes without fighting before you take them off completely.

BQ: Wtf is wrong with James Kirkland?

  • Why do you think recent Boxing PPV events are doing lower numbers?

I'm not talking about Mayweather and Pacquiao i just mean in general it seems like numbers for fights have declined in the past couple years even for popular fighter against each other e.g.....

Martinez vs Chavez Jr did like 500k buys but Martinez vs Cotto barely cracked 350k, Cotto is probably even more popular than Chavez so i don't get what has happened in the last two years.

    Why are PPV numbers declining?

  • Is Adrien Broner finally starting to mature?

... Or will he revert back to his old ways?

Seems a lot more laid back in this interview, still cracks a few jokes here and there but that's just him. Usually he barely answers any of the questions properly:

  • How impressed are you when you watch footage of Sugar Ray Robinson?

There's only full fights of him at middleweight where he already had many fights so he was probably damaged goods.... great combination variety and footwork but he gets hit pretty easily, it's almost like it's illegal to even question Ray Robinson and people just automatically say he's the greatest.

I wish there was footage of him when he was a welterweight so I could make a better judgement. Incredible resume but based on the eye test of watching his fights he doesn't look any better than various other greats, maybe I need my eye's tested but i'm just being honest.

What do you think when you watch him?

BQ: anyone seen a FULL FIGHT of his when he was at welterweight?

BQ 2: why is footage of him so rare when he was a welterweight?

  • Is Shawn Porter on something?

Look I don't want to take any credit away from him, I was extremely impressed with his last fight but where has this power come from?

He was a decent puncher at best struggling with Alfonso Gomez and going life and death with Julio Diaz in a close fight many think he lost. Next thing you know he obliterates Paulie Mallignaggi in a way that has never been done before.

He looked like a breed between prime Mike Tyson and Shane Mosley lol. I guess it's innocent until proven guilty so full credit to him. Watching this interview with Paulie is what made me suspicious, he didn't actually say it but he was alluding to it:

    Something's not addingggg up....

BQ: Shawn Porter vs Kell Brook who wins?

  • Is there really such thing as having an 'iron chin' in boxing?

Guys who widely considered to have great chins have been knocked down repeatedly or even knocked out... Ali has been knocked down numerous times by guys who didn't even have a big punch but is considered to have one of the best chins ever, same with Holyfield who has been knocked out before.

In current boxing we have someone like Chavez Jr who is considered to have a unbreakable chin but in reality how good is it? he goes into all of his fights with a crazy weight advantage so of course he can absorb the punches of guys who are a stone (14 lbs) lighter than him. What would happen if people his own size like Dr Kovalev or Stevenson operated on his chin?

The only guy I have genuinely seen with great punch resistance is Mariusz Wach who took so many right hands from Wladimir who is one of the best punchers in history, he has an abnormally shaped chin and was proved guilty for being on steroids.

How do you define a 'iron chin', purely on punch resistance or the ability to take shots and get back up? to be honest it just seems like people assume anyone with great heart like Ali and Holyfield have great chins or is that actually how you are meant to measure someone's chin?

  • Vasyl Lomanchenko vs Gary Russell Jr. Does a win for either guy prove that they are the real deal?

Or would there still be unanswered questions?

Lomanchenko is undoubtedly one of the greatest amateurs of all time if not the greatest but some say he was exposed in the pro game after failing to handle the inside game of Salido. If he were to beat Gary impressively does this show he has adapted to the pros or will it be dismissed as a win against an unproven hypejob?

Gary Russell Jr is talented but has faced poor opposition throughout his career. Now he is finally fighting for a world title against what seems to be a step up or is it? If Gary wins in impressive fashion would he get credit or would it be seen as just beating a failed professional fighter?

This is a interesting fight on another solid card, hopefully there are no injuries/postponements.

  • Keith 'One Time' Thurman vs 'Showtime' Shawn Porter who wins?

Two young beasts in the loaded welterweight division who seem to have a very bright future ahead of them. I think this could be the next big rivalry at welterweight and then the 'Thomo' and 'Portard' nations will emerge. In case you didn't already know i'm team ONE TIME!

    Who wins this one?

  • Is Erislandy Lara as talented as Guillermo Rigondeaux?

Great matchup not too far away, i'm sticking with my original prediction that Canelo will TKO him late or at least win a decision but I keep getting a feeling this fight could be a repeat of Rigondeaux vs Donaire because of the styles...

How good is Lara and who wins this fight?

BQ: Your winner of Lara-Canelo vs your winner of Cotto-Martinez, who wins?

  • In the future will it be common to see 'mega fights' failing to happen?

We all know the fight of the 21st century hasn't happened and doesn't look like happening anytime soon. Whoever you blame the fact is the fight didn't happen when it was superheated back in 2010. Despite it not happening both have had very lucrative fights (Floyd-Cotto/Alvarez, Pacquiao-Marquez 3 & 4) since then so it's not like there has been any major urgency from either camps, just the fans.

Who knows when the next mega fight not involving Mayweather or Pacquiao will happen but sooner or later there will be one... and another in each generation that goes by. The question is will they actually happen or are the days of megafights that everyone wants to see over?

  • What are some examples of fights that 'stole the show'?

When Shawn Porter was being interviewed by Jim Grey at the Mayweather-Maidana weigh in last week Hopkins joined in to congratulate Porter and admitted that he stole the show with his win over Malignaggi on the undercard of Hopkins-Shumenov...

What other fights have stolen the show?

  • Does Floyd Mayweather belong with the all-time greats?

This guy on boxingnews24 just RIPPED Floyd's whole resume. I'm 99.9% sure this is the same dude who comments on Bleacher Report articles under the name 'I know everything. I am 100% right don't reply' (or something like that). He basically just writes novels about why Mayweather and Pacquiao aren't top 45 P4P all time but this one was about Mayweather:

    http://www.boxingnews24.com/2014/04/does-floyd-may...

**Warning- it's quite a long read**

He makes some good points but some of the fighters he says are greater are questionable and contradictory in terms of their wins compared to Floyd.

    Thoughts?
