I like to ask random questions. Sometimes intelligent, sometimes not (all depending on who is reading the question). I like arts and sciences. I have a special spot for English and Latin. I also just jump into random answers/questions regarding science. I am a bit scatterbrained, so I fit perfectly here (in my opinion). Well, that about sums it.

  • What does 'nocras' (Spanish or Portuguese) mean in English?

    Any answers would be helpful.

It could be 'no cras' as well... also could be 'no et cras' as well.

    Thanks!

  • Am I right to say: God does not exist?

Even if I'm a catholic and have stayed in a Christian boarding school? Been in a choir and actually evangelized when I was younger?

  • Is it possible to insert php code into javascript?

I'm using php code as a newsflash, but I want it to automatically play, like a javascript newsflash. However, I know how to use code the javascript newsflash thing, but it will require me to have to enter all of the urls to the content.

I was wondering if there is anyway I could insert the php code into the javascript code so that I wouldn't have to enter every single page manually into the newsflash viewer.

  • Which do you prefer? Fireworks or Photoshop?

I use fireworks for all my graphic designs. From editing photos to creating logos. It is a great software. I have used Imageready as well, but to me, nothing beats fireworks.

I have not come around to using Photoshop, but is it better than Fireworks? I mean... I really don't use Photoshop because I am satisfied by Fireworks. What are the advantages of Photoshop over fireworks, and which is more advanced?

As you can see, I am not trying to down talk either of the software, as they both belong to Adobe now.

  • How much should it cost to fix my computer?

It needs a new motherboard and a new pcmcia card. The computer repair store is charging me $271.00 and to be quite honest, I'd rather get a new laptop than pay that much, it's almost 50% the laptop price.

Oh, and that is $271.00 plus $50.00 I had to pay as a 'diagnostic fee' as if I already didn't know what was wrong with the computer.

    Any recommendations?

  • Wormholes... do you think its possible? How much energy are we talking here?

Okay, travelling faster than the speed of light is enticing, afterall, we get to disprove Einstein (that nothing can travel faster than the speed of light). Since wormholes are (might be) the only way to travel faster than the speed of light bw two points, do you think its possible to create a wormhole?

If it is, how much energy do you think it would take?

Do you think we could accumulate enough energy to bend the fabric of time and space, talkless of ripping it?

  • Immigration for a former US resident?

I am a US citizen, but my mum isn't. She had a ss#, bank accounts and a job. I don't know what that qualified her as, but I am looking to file an application for her so she could come over. I haven't seen her in 10 years and I am under 21 (almost 20).

Is there anyway or forms I can fill to get her here, even if I am under 21?

  • How smart is HIV/AIDS?

Okay... so this is a retrovirus (emphasis on the 'virus'). It is not a living thing unless it has a host. Why are we giving it so much time to evolve? I lived in Africa when I was little, I didn't even know that HIV/AIDS was such an epidemic until I came back.

    We fought malaria.

    We fought the Bubonic plague

    We fought tuberculosis

We are maintaning SARS compared to AIDS.

Have we found our equal? Are we wasting our time giving this disease time to mature? Is HIV/AIDS protecting its own existence? Where is it from anyways? Is it actually man-made (in order to make money by creating a drug for it)? Is this an experiment gone bad?

Why is it so much more prevalent in third world countries. Third world countries I used to think had strict rules on women having sex with someone other than their husband. How is this virus spreading so fast?

  • What qualifies a business as official/legal in the United States (federally), and in GA?

I was wondering what makes a business official in the US as a whole (apart from getting a TIN).

Also, what makes it official as a whole in the state of Georgia. Say the business is internet based, but you are looking to expand it in the future and be able to accept and write checks and get a business account and what not.

  • What is the correct plural for encyclopedia?

Is it encyclopedias? Or encyclopediae? I mean, the word is from Latin, and plural latin words (feminine -a) often ends with an -ae in plural.
