how to start fixing credit?
i got in over my head with credit card debt. i defaulted on a motorcycle that was through a credit card company. hsbc. i also defaulted a regular credit card and a best buy credit card. this all happened in 2010 and 20011. they all went to collection agents. the loans were also sold several times. over the last few years i have gotten them all payed back. i just made my last payment to one of them. my credit is trashed now. i checked all 3 credit reports today and everything looks accurate, but really bad. the only loan i have out now is my student loan. the payment is only $55 a month and i have always pad it on time. it is current and the credit reports showed that its never been late. i owe just under $4k on it. i also have a house payment but its on a land contract and almost payed off. i tried to get a credit card but was denied last fall. i guess that if i keep on paying the student loan on time it may help my credit. i have my paycheck put into my checking and savings accounts through direct deposit. at the rate im going, i could pay off the student loan this summer. i planned to do that but now think that it might be the last hope for fixing my credit. there is no way to get a loan or credit card to fix my credit so i guess i need to keep paying the student loan and hope for the best. im sorry this got a little long. if any body has some advice, it would be much appreciated.

5 AnswersHunting7 years agowhy are people afraid of snakes?
ok. i had a minnow trap for catching bait laying on the ground by my front porch. i came home from work today and noticed that a garter snake got in it. i figured i'd take it out in the backyard and let it go in the deep grass near the woods. as im walking across the yard, my neighbor sees me and comes up to talk. as soon as she sees the snake she asked if i was going to kill it. i said no, i'm turning it loose. she freaks out! i told her its just a garter snake and cant hurt anybody but she was still going crazy over it. she said she was going to call her husband to come and kill it. i was like "this little bastard will be long gone by the time he gets here". i couldnt believe how silly this lady was acting over one little snake. i told her that these garter snakes are all over the place. i find them in the yard all the time. she started crying and everything.
how the hell can an otherwise reasonable person turn into an idiot over the sight of a snake. i dont really like the *******, but goddamn, it cant hurt me, im not a frog.
3 AnswersReptiles7 years agocan i practice christianity in private?
I am thinking of getting more religious. I am a 33 year old man. my family is not very religious, though. I know my maternal grandparents where Methodists. most of my aunts/ uncles, siblings, and cousins aren't religious at all. I want to explore it some, but I looked into the Methodists and found that they really push missionary work and spreading the word. im not interested in bothering other people with my religion. I want to explore religion and don't want to turn into an annoying preachy type. is it possible to become a good Christian in private? I plan to get a bible and read it. I never have before. that will get me started. it just seems that all the churches I have researched online want members to go around trying to talk others into their religion. I don't even know if I want to physically go to a church. I just want to become more spiritual and do so privately. I don't really have anyone to ask about this. I honestly don't know anybody who is religious.

18 AnswersCurrent Events8 years agohonda 185s atc skips at higher rpm's?
i just got a honda atc 185s. its a 1983. it starts right up like it should and runs ok, maybe a little rough. it idles when its cold but after riding it for about 15 minutes it is having some trouble at idle. it idles too slowly and will stall after a few seconds if i dont give it a little throttle. at high rpm's it starts to break up. this is my main concern. it doesnt have the power it should and only runs smooth at about half throttle. anything over that it starts skipping. the guy i bought it from said it didnt run when he got it and he cleaned the carb on it to get it going. he said that there is a hole for some pin in the side of the carb that was worn out and sloppy and he thought that it was the problem. i havent gotten time to mess with it because i just got it yesterday and had to do some other work today. i was thinking about buying one of those chinese ebay carbs and trying it out. has anybody used one? i heard that they are actually pretty good. any other ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.
4 AnswersMotorcycles8 years agotrying to communicate with representatives?
i have always followed politics very loosely, never having a strong interest in it. over the last few years, though, i have started following it more closely.
anyway, i live in new york state and am an avid hunter and outdoorsman. when the governor announced his plans for gun control, i finally had a political issue i felt strongly enough about to communicate with my representatives about it.
after a short search, i was able to find a website for my state senator as well as for my assemblyman. on both sites they had a "contact us" area. i filled out the required fields and sent messages about my concerns over the gun control issues to both of them.i got an automated e-mail from both sites saying that they received my messages. that was the last i heard from them.
now i realize that these are busy people, but i did expect a response. they both voted against the bills in question, so they must have been hearing it from many others as well. i voted for both of these people and have never bothered them before. i thought that they would have some staff members who could respond to the messages they receive from constituents.
they had addresses for their local and albany offices on both websites. so my question is this. do you think i would get a response if i mailed a letter to them instead of e-mailing them? in the future, if i have an issue i want to express my opinion on, i will send them a letter rather than e-mail. i can see that my civic participation is getting more and more involved every year, so im sure i will be contacting these people again.
2 AnswersCivic Participation8 years agowhat size is the scope mount/ grooves on a gamo bone collector bull whisper?
i was looking at scopes for my bone collector rifle on pyramydair and see that there are different types of mounts. i know that weavers wont work, im familiar with those from shooting rifles. i assume these are the dovetail mounts but i dont know what size they are.
2 AnswersHunting8 years agorealistic hunting distance with air rifle and best pellets?
ok. i just got a gamo bone collector bull whisper air rifle in .177. i also bought a tin of cheap gamo hollow points. i threw the package out for the pellets and dont know exactly what weight or name they are other than they are gamo hollow points and only cost $7.99 for 750 of them.
so some freinds and i get together to do some plinking with it and another gamo rifle my buddy has. i started right out with the cheap pellets because i knew i had more of these than the platinum ones that came with the rifle. i wanted to sight it in with the pellets i would be using more of.
we quickly realised that the platinum pellets were much faster because they broke the sound barrier and the lead ones didnt. however, the lead pellets seemed to be more accurate at long range, maybe because they are heavier. also, i think that projectiles that light may encounter adverse aerodynamic effects at the speed of sound.
after some sighting in, we were hitting 12oz soda cans at 70 yards with every shot. we got many solid hits at 100 yards as well. i was shocked to find that there wasnt very much holdover required to hit at these distances. i was very impressed with this because i havent shot an airgun since around 1994. these things have come a long way.
anyway, i would feel very confident in hitting a squirrel at 75 yards with this thing (body, not head)as long as i had a tree or something to help steady myself on. i understand that these pellets will lose lots of energy at distance so i was hoping someone could help me in determining a realistic distance that this gun could kill a squirrel or rabbit.
also, if anybody that has experiance with this particular rifle, could you give me some tips as to what pellets work best in it. i would prefer something heavy enough to keep it under the 1150 feet per second speed. something suitable for hunting, but cheap enough to shoot alot at targets and cans. i was thinking of trying the gamo red fires. they are lead so they should be heavy enough to keep it slow and quiet. im not concerned with resighting it for new ammo because i plan on getting a different scope for it. the stock scope sucks.
6 AnswersHunting8 years agowhere are all these anti gun people coming from?
i was just wondering about where the anti gun people are from. i have never met anybody in person who thinks guns should be banned. granted, i live in upstate ny, way upstate. this is a rural area where most people hunt and fish. i guess this is partly why ive never met any anti gun people. is this a city issue? i mean really, what the hell is wrong with guns? obviously they are dangerous when handled by an idiot or a a nutcase, but can you really blame the gun. i just dont understand how gun laws could prevent violence. unless they plan to somehow get rid of all guns, new laws would be of no help at all. there are something like 400 milloin guns in this country. there is no way to stop violence. it seems like the politicians are just using this tragedy to please the silly city people who are constantly looking to "improve" our society. they are taking advantage of all the sappy mothers who relate to the poor parents of the kids who got killed in conneticut to win votes in 2014. thats all i can figure. i guess its just an issue to people in cities who only see the negative aspects of gun ownership and dont understand the positives. what do you think
10 AnswersCurrent Events8 years agowhats up with people thinking banning guns will stop violence?
all ive been hearing since this school shooting is people wanting to ban guns. how does anybody think this could solve anything. i have heard a tremendous amount of false information about ar-15's also. i have one that i use for hunting coy dogs. it is nowhere near as dangerous a weapon as the big game rifles i own. guns dont cause violence, i mean come on, how stupid are these people. do a google search of non gun related mass killings. its crazy. there was a guy in china, i think, who killed 198 people by setting a subway train on fire for christs sake.
9 AnswersCurrent Events8 years agowhat is a T. Rowe Price 2040?
i asked this question yesterday but it got deleted for some reason. i lost a bunch of money on a deferred compensation account i have through work. i work for the state of new york. this deffered comp plan is a voluntary suppliment to the normal pension. i quit contributing to it for awhile but recently decided to start again. i read the last statement and saw that it was actually making slight gains even without my contributions. i talked to a rep and he set me up to have 5% of my pay going into it. we talked about me wanting to change where my money is invested. he told me that they could take care of it for me because i didnt know what to invest in. im just a mechanic. i checked online yesterday and saw that every bit of my money is going into this T. Rowe Price 2040. could someone please tell me what this is. i got one answer yesterday before it got deleted, and they said it was a bond. this cant be right. i have about $10,500 in this, it cant be just a bond can it?
3 AnswersInvesting9 years agois it really worth it to buy silver.?
im thinking of buying silver. i had a thing at work that was called a deffered compensation plan. it sucked. i was putting 10% of my gross pay in it. after 2 years there was less money in it than my actual contribution. i stopped contributing. i cant cash it in i guess, so it will just sit there until i retire in 20 years. this plan is only a supplement to an actual pension, so its not like i have no retirement. so i thought that silver is cheap enough that i could spend the money that no longer goes into the deffered comp plan on it. i could buy a couple of ounces a week and pile it up in my safe. when i retire, i will have a pile of it that i can sell off to supplement my pension. i dont expect to make huge profits(though it is possible i guess) i just want to do some saving, and it seems kind of fun to go out and buy different coins and bars. i do plan to stick to actual silver value and not get caught up in numismatic value.

hi. i plan to start buying silver bullion and coins as a suppliment to my pension. by silver, i mean physical silver. i found a reputable source online because there isnt any place near me that sells it. the only problem is that the packages require a signature. i live alone and am at work when mail is delivered here. it says that the signature must be accompanied by a photo id and must be by the cardholder. will the post office make arrangements to hold these packages for me so i can get them there? i will be ordering some stuff every 2 weeks on payday, it wont be a one time thing.
1 AnswerOther - Business & Finance9 years agowhats the deal with investing in gold?
im sorry that this isn't the right place to post this, but there literally is no activity in the business and finance section.so im thinking of investing in silver and maybe gold. probably silver because its cheaper and easier to start with. i had a deferred comp plan at work that i was in for awhile until i realized that there was less money in my account than i had put in it. this is a supplement to the pension that new york state provides its employees, so its not like i have no retirement. i was putting 10% of my gross pay into it. im thinking of investing that same 10% in silver and gold. it wont be as much because it will be 10% of my net pay because i wont be able to use the pre tax benefit of the deferred comp plan. my main question is this. if i buy silver and gold coins, how will i be able to profit. i know that the sivler content of pre-1964 coins are worth more than face value of the coin. however, as long as they are still legal tender, how can they be sold for more than face value. american buffalo coins are 1 ounce of .9999% pure gold valued at $1731 per ounce. the face value of the coin is only $50 though. i cant afford to by gold or silver in 100 ounce bullion bars so coins are my only choice. i just need to understand how the coins can be sold for more than face value before i decide to start buying it.

3 AnswersAircraft9 years agof-22 oxygen problems?
i just read an article about f-22's losing oxygen to the pilot during flight. apparently, there have been 28 cases of pilots suffering hypoxia during flights. there have even been some incidents that resulted in fatal crashes. it said that one pilot in alaska on a training mission dove into the ground at supersonic speed. my question is, wouldnt such experienced pilots be able to recognize the symptoms of hypoxia and take action to lower their altitude to a safe level before blacking out and crashing. its my understanding that hypoxia comes on kind of slow and it seems that they would be able to address it before a crash. during a training mission i would think they could take corrective action. during a combat mission they may be forced to keep their altitude, but during training it seems as though it would be preventable. the air force claims that these fatal crashes were pilot error. i know that you always "fly the plane first" but hypoxia induced crashes seem like they shouldnt be considered pilot error. i was just wondering what opinions others would have about this.
