  • Sister in-law lost her baby and I m due soon.. I m not sure how to feel?

I m 31 weeks pregnant with my first baby and my SIL s baby stopped growing at 8 weeks, 3 weeks ago (they just found out today). They already announced to their 3 kids on Christmas that they were going to have a little brother or sister.

My husband and his mother are devastated, as they should be. But, I m not sure how I should feel. I spent my entire first trimester in and out of the hospital with complications and know that you can lose a baby at any time, and had to prepare myself for that loss.

When my MIL told us, my husband started crying but I m rather emotionless over it. Yes it s sad, but it happens. Im also too excited about my little girl to know how to react to someone else losing theirs without feeling guilty that my pregnancy is now going well and my baby is healthy as can be.

I need advice on how to act about this and/or what my husband and I can do to show our support.. I know if I lost my baby, the last thing I would want is another woman whose about to have a baby trying to comfort me. Especially when that person (me) has never been through that kind of loss.

  • things to do in Washington DC?

    i moved to dc back in july and have finally gotten comfortable with working and traveling. the only problem i have is;

i have noooooooooooo idea what to do aside from being bored at home or going out with my boyfriend to eat.

i'm not 21, so i can't go drink at bars or clubs

and obviously, i'm not single so i can't go mingle with anyone with out him getting jealous.

so, i was just wondering what all there is to do (reasonably priced) here :)

neither of us have our licenses so please keep in mind that we have to use the metro buses and trains to get around.

also, good restaurants that are reasonably priced will be a good plus :) we've tried a few but he doesn't eat any meat aside from chicken... i eat anything so we're just limited to what he can have. any good indian restaurants with a buffet will be a good place, but yea... anywhere that has more than just fish, pork, and beef will be great :)

    thank you!! :D

  • what to get my 17 yr old brother for his birthday?

My brother is going to 17 soon and I'm not sure what to get him, he's always outside and has to walk everywhere.. I'm VERY limited as I moved away a few months ago and have to take into consideration the cost of shipping from DC to the middle of nowhere in Colorado.

He also is obsessed with zombies.

He's very high strung and is an "ex" stoner (he's on probation right now so he can't smoke. HA!)

He likes rock music and wants to go to an August Burns Red concert, but there's no tickets for the area and I know my parents won't let him go out of the state especially just to go to a concert.

if there's any ideas please let me know :)

  • CVS promotion opportunities?

I live in the Washington D.C. area, and I've just started working, Right now I'm only about to finish my second day of training and then I'll start actually working. However, regardless of the inexperience (because that isn't the reason for this question), how long should I wait before I start showing interest in getting a promotion? No, I'm not talking about a raise, I mean, I'm going to just be a person on the floor, but hope to one day make it as high as I can go on the corporate ladder.

    In short:

    1) How long should I wait (so I can also use my time of experience as a reason to get promoted) to show that I'm interested in getting promoted

    2) How long is too long before I want to show I'm interested in getting a promotion. (I'm sure that after a number of years, a manager or some one else who makes those decisions such as a district manager decides that I'm only interested in having the basic job instead of moving up in the company.)

    3) What requirements (such as education as well as other things) are there for different promotions? i.e. Shift Supervisor, Assistant Store Manager, Store Manager, Training Store Manager.

    4) How do you make a transition from a Store Manager and a Training Store Manager to a District Manager? Then a District Manager to a Regional Manager, or another Manager that is equal to the District manager (such as Regional Category Managers, Regional Human Resource Manager, Employee Relations Manager, and Regional Loss Prevention Managers) I understand that to get higher you need a specific qualification in Education, and I'd like to know what those are as well.

I know and understand that along with experience years in the company, you need to have good work quality and be able to prove it. I don't plan to be expecting anything, that's why I would like to know how long I should wait, but the length of time I shouldn't go over, that way I know when I should let them know I'm wanting to grow with the company.

Thank You for your reply, as well as reading this entire question (or at least the parts that I'd like for you to answer.)

  • kitchen stuff for carry ons?

can you take stuff like glass plates, glass cups, and a pot/pan obviously you can't take knives, i would doubt forks because you can still stab people with them... and if you're taking spoons and such it'd make even more sense to pack it with the forks and knives... but i'm not 100% sure about the glass objects because it might still be a "hazard" i just don't want these items to get broken on the plane and would feel more comfortable having them in my carry on.

    thank you :)

  • basic home appliances?

I'm going to be moving out soon, and I have absolutely NOTHING to take to my new place, I have a small list of things that I'm going to NEED but would like to know if there's more things that i might have left out. I'm not putting the list on here just because it'll give everyone a fresh mind, but yea. All rooms are needed (there's a bedroom, den, kitchen, dining room, and a living room. I don't need to hear "oh well you need to get a 54" plasma HD tv" because I don't NEED it. I'm just talking about the things I'll need to get by life so that I can work my way to getting the 54" plasma HD tv. (not like I want one anyway.)

  • end of the earth? -no, i'm not being serious... just wanted a catchy title :]-?

soooooooooooo.... they said we have nothing to worry about... with all the hype of the obvious "2012" thing, but more specifically, the fact that the earth is going through a lot more the past few years is pretty bad.

tell me this doesn't add up to something?

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/space/20100609/sc_space/mo...

    http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eqarchives/...

-note- the stats aren't as high as past years, but this year isn't even half way over and already it's above half the other years.

    http://hogueprophecy.com/2010/natural-disasters-th...

another thing - the chile earthquake shifted the earth's axis, and our days are shorter by a fraction of a second, i know not to worry about a fraction of a second, but eventually it adds up... 1/50th of a second is a whole second in just 50 days, a minute in a couple years, and will eventually add up to an hour to a whole day to a couple days, to a week, to a month, to a couple months to half a year, to a whole year (that's giving the half a second or whatever it is, hundreds of years to take away a whole years worth of time)... i plan on living a long healthy life, so why would i want a day or two taken out of my routine?

no, i'm not being paranoid... frankly, i don't give a crap. i just wanted to post a question to make people think. SO please don't put up "omg you're so dumb" "wow you need to kill yourself" "wtf you believe everything you read" answers.

ten points will go to the person who puts the most thought into their answer... thus, you won't get 10 points by posting "posting for points" because that's not going to get you anywhere.

  • why do people make such a big hype over if men like larger women or not?

usually only young guys like the really skinny girls because they're completely immature and don't think it's possible that she'll get fat (surprise surprise!) i've seen a few older guys (30+) who are shallow, too... but usually by the time they're in their mid to late 20's they begin to like different body shapes (i'm not saying EVERY young guy likes skinny girls... just the vast majority)
