  • Would Minethatbird have won today if Mike Smith was up?

My theory is this; if Rachel Alexandria was in the field, Smith would have rode a different race that Borel. It appeared to me that Borel wasn't urging or whipping MTB in the stretch. My expectation was that MTB was going to win in a Secretariat style fashion, but 30 years of watching races make me know better. Glad I didn't waste my money today!

  • can your spouse de-designate you as insurance payee?

We have 2 children, one is special needs. She say she will redesignate beneficiary of Life insurace (1M) and leave me with special needs child. Will divorce if I don't agree. I have 275K of insurance that she is beneficiary on (48 and in poor health rating wise).

If this is a bluff, I'm done with this. Will just leave and let chips fall.

    Any suggestions?

  • what to do - more details?

I asked this question before - now more details. My mom died last month and my dad died last April. The estate is a small one, probably 20-50K. Four years ago, my parents had a liquid net worth of around 200K and my brother took over as Power of attorney to help them out (mom was 76 and frail, dad had Alzheimer's). I have good second-hand knowledge that my brother and his wife took at least 100K from the estate in addition to the 20-30K that my parents contracted him for handling their affairs. Here's the real question: He is not going to ever speak to me or my sister again anyway (his words); Do I tell him to jump (would use other 4 letter word) off or spend 12K that I'll probably not get back to sue him for Breach of Fiduciary contract? If sucessful, he would be civilly liable for around 100K plus the 12K I'd have to put out up front.

If you have another solution that doesn't involve killing someone, I'd like to hear that too.

P.S. If you think it's about the money, you're dead wrong. This SOB just made it so I didn't get to speak to either of my parents for the last year of their respective lives. I make more money that he and his wife combined.

  • How would you handle this?

My mom died 2 weeks ago. My dad died 11 months ago. He had Alzheimers for at least 4 years before he died. My brother handled his POA and took at least 80K from him for stupid things like having people sit with him while he was in the hospital having his foot amputated. My sister was my mom's POA and I'm pretty sure she's taken a good chunk from the estate. Now comes the will and she gets 40 percent, thief bro and I get 20 percent each and other sis's kids get 10 percent each. Do I demand an accounting from each or let her steal some more (Asbestos money and wrongful death money could come in later)? I know I'll never speak to bro again, don't know about sis (She can be a bully verbally).

  • If something happened to Mount Rushmore, who would you replace and why?

GW, TJ and AL seem obvious to keep, but TR was a bit off-key after his presidency and JFK, FDR or Reagan seem palatable choice to replace him. Just a "Fun" political question.

  • Relocate or bite the bullet?

I'm a computer programmer in my mid 40's. I was laid off from a 55K per year job. I have a special needs son and because of this, we live in a high-end community and have a large mortgage payment. I was able to find a new job that would pay 60K but would require relocation to another state. The best job I've been able to find here would only pay 40K. My family is fatally opposed to moving. My wife's job pays 50K and she's been there for 12 years. What should I do?

  • what type of job can be worked from home that does NOT involve sales or collection?

I am a programmer with an autistic son. Don't want to stuff envelopes, do MLM or sales or be a telemarketer, though I've done the latter. Any suggestions?

  • what is the best way to give a haircut to an autistic child?

He has a fit when we get within a block of shop. Kicks and screams during process. I've had people want to call DHR because of how I hold him to get these reluctant stylists to do a half-way job for a 100 percent tip.
