If you did it would be AMAZING, my horse and I have come so far, when I got him he was an underweight untrained TB who had been bought OTT and dumped at the horse auctions because the people couldnt sell him privately, he is now the most loving and quiet animal you would ever meet and I love him with all my heart <3
He would look amazing in this, and if you could like it that would be the best! I'm about 25 likes behind the winner, so please please help me out?
Thanks so much Yahoo Answers!! xoxo

and my comment is " Because my pony has worked so hard and puts up with so much and we've come so far, before I bought him he never had anyone love him, he was taken off the track, dumped in a paddock then brought to the auctions underweight, I've nursed him back to health and I love him to death ♥
He deserves it, we both do, we've both worked so hard! ♥ "

13 AnswersHorses9 years agoHorse lame after barefoot trim?
The barefoot farrier came up yesterday about 3pm (its now 11am) and my horse has been tender in his front hooves. Yesterday when I got home, the farrier had been and he was tender in one hoof, but today he seems sore in both. Apparently the farrier didnt mention anything, we've had him out before and he's great with the horses, it just seems strange that he's suddenly lame, straight after a farrier visit. His hooves were getting a little bit split at the end (I'm talking about 5mm cracks) but I didnt stress too much because it wasnt giving him any troubles and we were getting the farrier out in a couple of days.
Could it be because his hooves are too dry, hence the splitting and the soreness?
What should I do? Ask the farrier if its normal? How long should it be until the pain goes away?
Thanks!
9 AnswersHorses9 years agoHand raising 2 week old baby mouse? AT SCHOOL?
Today I checked my female mouse to discover she’d maimed and killed 4 out of her five 2 week old babies.
I couldn’t just leave the survivor, so, in a rush, I grabbed a patty tin case, lined it with tissues, grabbed some milk and bread in a zip lock bag… And shoved it all in my pencil case and went to school! I’m currently at school and I’m wondering if you think it would be worthwile taking him to the vets? He has a bite on his tail, but I’ve been giving him milk and bread every hour or so (tricky, when teachers are watching you every move! We got caught once, but the teacher just said, “How cute.” And moved on!)
He’s perked up but I’m a bit worried, am I doing everything right? Is there more I could do? How much would it cost for a checkup at the vet? I have got $5 on me at the moment lol but could pay the rest back later.
Any help would be amazing!
Oh, and he has fur and his eyes have just opened, hes starting to wander around.
And the patty tin DOES have airholes.
1 AnswerRodents9 years agoHow to get on a 15.2hh TB bareback?
I have ridden my TB bareback a couple of times now, but I cant get on without help, or climbing off a fence! I can jump up and lay across his back, but I cant turn around to sit up (if that makes sense!) because, I have nowhere to grab and pull myself up, and his withers in the way!
I hogged his mane, too, so I cant pull myself up with his mane.
What are some good tips? Its just more I cant get my leg over his rump, I have to get someone to push it over lol.
Thanks! :)
14 AnswersHorses10 years agoHow to encourage a horse to work on the bit and improve their flexibility? Half-halts?
I have a 5 year old OTT gelding, lately we've been working on our trasitions and circles.
when I got him (about 4 months ago) you had to constantly keep at him with your legs to get him going and keep him moving, when you asked him to stop he'd stop, but then fidget with his reins and prance around nervously. As soon as you released the reins he'd start walking. And if you leaned forward even slightly, he'd GO! When you tried to get him to circle, he'd just turn on his back legs, not bend his body at all. his idea of trotting over poles was JUMP the poles and then canter into the sunset! If you put more than one pole infront of him he's PANIC.
Now with a click-click of the tongue and a slight nudge with the heels, he'll walk on, ditto with trot, with canter you have to be a bit firmer but he does go when you ask him to 90% of the time. His stops are 100000 times better and he will stand still until you ask him to walk on, you can lean forward and hug him while standing still or walking (havent tried it while trotting yet!). He trots normally over one pole under saddle, and has started extending his stride over two poles at a trot on the lunge. And he now circles, they're pretty wonky but so much better.
BUT he will not flex his neck!
When I give him the reins and hold onto the buckle, he very rarely stretches out, and when he does its only so he can take you by surprise and turn around to go the other way, and it takes me a few seconds to pull his head up and get him facing the right way again!
Anyway, in short, he doesnt like/know how to flex his neck.
How can I encourage him to? He'll bend/flex his neck on the ground for carrots, should I try that under saddle aswell? I know its a slow process, but what are some tips to encourage him to flex? Thanks!
Also, I've tried half-halts, but they just confuse him and he gets all un-co. Should I just not bother with half halts? All we do is ride around the paddock anyway, its not like we do dressage :)
Thanks :)
2 AnswersHorses10 years agoDo you need Wii motion plus for Big Bass 2?
I just bought Big Bass 2 on Wii as a Chrissy present and I was wondering if you need Wii Motion Plus? It says its compatable with it, but it doesnt say you NEED it.
Do you need Wii Motion Plus? Or will the game work without it?
If yes, where can you buy the Motion Plus from, and roughly how much does it cost?
Thanks! Josiie

3 AnswersSecurity10 years agoSpring grass? Is rye hay heating? IMPORTANT!?
Who else is having problems with the bloody spring grass! Never been so scared in my bloody life!!!
Bathing Banjo today, decided to give him a bath instead of ride him, boy am I glad. Little shite reared up 4 times on the lead, all I could see was hooves, sh*t scared much?! My confidence has come so far tho, instead of just letting him off, I lead him around, brought him back and finished the bloody bath!
Then the little **** reared up and WALKED BACKWARDS on his back legs while I was leading him around, I just couldnt hold on, but got a big chunk missing from my hand now, he went racing round the paddock going spazz coz there was a 'snake' following him, little shite. Finally maged to catch him and tied him up to make sure he wouldnt try it again, he was fine, so I let him off and he went spazzing around the paddock! Rearing and bucking, little spazz.
Thinking about trying him on some calming food?
Also does rye hay heat them up much? I've just introduced some to his diet, could that be setting him off?
4 AnswersHorses10 years agoAm I over reacting? Please help?
I went to my grandmas house for a couple of nights and left my TB at home with strict instructions on how to look after him.
I get home, mum's left his rug off overnight in a thunderstorm.
His saddle has been left outside (thankfully its not wet)
AND my stupid sister (who I cannot stand one bit) who knows NOTHING about horses, went in with him with one of my old friends and started stuffing around with him!!
I'm so pissed off, he's my horse, I'm SICK of other people stuffing around with him!!
How do I explain that to them?! My mum wants Banjo because hes so quiet, but he needs more experience than she has, and she has no time (not to mention no knowledge). And when I told dad that my sister was stuffing around with Banjo, dad just said, oh well, it didn't kill him. No, but God knows what she did, to stuff up his training!!
Anyway, now my old BFFL and my sister are playing Wii in the lounge room. We used to be best friends, so close. But I started getting homeschooled, so we lost touch. Then my sister moved in and my 'friend' is friends with her. Because she feels sorry for her (or so she says)
I hate seeing my stupid sister that literally does EVERYTHING she can to make my life a misery, having fun with my old BFFL. Should I try to steal her back? Or just ignore them and give the girl silent treatment?
I cannot be friends with someone who is friends with my sister. Some of you may not understand, but my sister is a back stabbing *****, who with constantly make up rumors to my friend to ruin everything.

5 AnswersHorses10 years agoYour horse stories, falls and brags?
SHare your stories, falls and brags!
My brag is that I was riding my new TB gelding for the third time, and he was being reaallllly sluggish at the trot, we tried everything, nothing worked, so my instructor pulled out the lunge whip and started making a huuuuge racket. Anyway, he was trotting pretty quick after that, but was still listening, and my instructor had stopped cracking the whip, when suddenly my horse decided to cut across the arena, threw in a nice buck and started into a very bumpy half canter half gallop, then did a lovely sliding stop at the end of the arena!
And through all that I stayed on!
Another time I went horse riding along the beach on a pony with a riding school, and we were cantering along. My pony HATED the water, but stayed really close to the waves becasue the ground was harder and easier to canter along.
Now, just one quick thing. It normally takes me about 5-10 strides to get my seat right, to relax and get used to the rythem of the canter. I'd just done this when a wave came in and my pony went sideways about 10 meters, then tripped in the deep sand! I managed to hold on and she steadied herself and cantered for a few strides, then saw the other horses were really far away and just EXPLODED. I had my first gallop :D
It wasnt for very long, just until she caught the other horses, but i was scared she was going to trip again :l
Needless to say I stuck to a trot after that!
An embarrasing story... I was trotting along on my second trail ride ever, when we had to go over a really steep hill/bank that was about 25cm and straight up, I wasnt sure how my pony would take it and tensed up, and the little rascal went sideways! I fell off, straight into the path of the other horses. Fortunately I didnt get trampled. Then, five minutes later we had come to a stop, and I was trying to calm myself down and relax, when someone who was gardening stood up and my pony shied again. And I fell off. Again. I was so embarrased!!
Thank god, my seat has improved since then! I was riding my TB the other day and a dog jumped up unexpectedly, he went sideways and did a 180 at the same time, then took off in a trot, and I stayed on.
He will think twice about rubbing me off on a branch again, too! I was riding him in the padock for the first time, and he took the bit in his teeth, swung round and straight under a branch. I leant forward and he, being an ex racehorse, took off, all these twigs fell off the branch as we went under and he turned to water and freaked, he was shaking and everything. And me? I was laughing my head off! (still in the saddle! :D) He's avoided that branch ever since!
Another time (LAST ONE I PROMISE!!!) I was riding my friends 12.2hh pony, who's 20 but can still go at the slightest touch of the heels. I was riding without stirrups when she did a 180 turn and took off in a very pony-like trot (sooooo bumpy!!) then turned this tiny tight circle. My legs were sooooo cramped!!
Anyway, ignore my little brag, I'm just proud of how far my riding has come in the last few years, I used to fall off everytime the horse went sideways, and now I'm staying on quite well indeed :)
4 AnswersHorses10 years agoHelp with retraining a 5 year old Ex racehorse?
Any suggestions on exercises I can do with my 5 year old exracehorse? He tends to get a bit sluggish and ignore my aids, and has started putting his head down low in the trot, and pulling the reins out of my hands which unballances me, and he starts walking again. Bu when I try to keep the reins, she starts to fight against them. Its not like I hold them tight, either. I always keep them just a little bit loose, otherwise he starts to lean on them. Any advice? Also, when Im turning him he tends to just turn, doesnt flex his neck at all, and always keeps his neck really stiff, but when I try to get him to flex, he just stops and wont move.
I dont want to do anything fancy, I'm not going to do dressage or anything, I just want to loosen him up a bit, he always feels so tight in the neck. But he's not jumpy or anything.

17 AnswersHorses10 years agoHow many acres per horse? Fertilizing grass?
I currently own a 15.2hh TB gelding who was underweight when I got him, and had put on some weight, but after being moved from an adgistment paddock to our paddock (our fences hadnt been built yet) he kept pacing the fence and lost alot of weight.
He's settled down a bit now, but still isnt putting weight on as quick as I'dlike. I'm giving him lucerne every day, and he has constant access to a big round roll of grass hay.
He has two paddocks, which we've estimated to be about 4 acres all together. We're looking at getting him a horsey friend, but becuase our fence is quite high off the ground, a shetland is out of the question.
Theres a little 12 year old welsh pony going really cheap about 10 minutes from us, I'm looking at getting her. BUT in the next 6 months or so, my mums looking at getting herself a horse, about 15.2hh aswell. So I'm not sure if our land would be okay for that many horses/ponies. Chances are my mum would be getting something reletively bulky and a good doer, not like my TB.
I've been told the ruleis 1 1/2 acres per horse. Does this sound about right?
Our grass is currently, to behonest, crap. Its about 4-5cm long, brown and dry.
We are looking at getting a load of chook dung out and fertalising atleast one of the paddocks, preferably the bigger one which is the crapper paddock of the two. How long should you leave the horse out of the paddock for, to let the poop settle? Is chook poo the best fertalizer?
I've heard you can use horse poo after letting it settle/break down for a few weeks/months. Wouldnt it just sit ontop of the grass and look bad?
How long does it take grass to grow back after chook poo's been used?
Do you have to water the poo once its been dropped?
Sorry for all the questions :)
4 AnswersHorses10 years agoWhy is my goldfish floating? The right way up?
I bought a small goldfish and a 12 ltr. tank yesterday, I rinsed the tank out with rain water, then filled it up and put the water conditioner and ager in, and an oxygen block.
Then I sat the fish in its bag in the water for over half an hour, then slowly released it. For the first hour or so it seemed okay, but now its looking.. Weird. After about 4 hours, it was swimming down, then floating slowly up again, and it kept doing this, fighting to stay down the bottom.
It survived the night, but this morning it was just.. floating, the right way up, ontop of the water! I thought it was dead but when I tapped the glass it started swimming again.
The I put my hand in and shook the oxygen block, incase she didnt have enough oxygen, but shes still floating. HELP!! Whats wrong with her?!?! I've fed her but she hasnt eaten at all :(
3 AnswersFish10 years agoGood diet for 5 year old slightly underweight OTT TB?
I bought a very very VERY quiet OTT from the auctions, and it turns out the lady didnt used to feed him at all, he just ate grass from the pasture.
At the moment I'm feeding a few flakes of lucerne hay and grass hay. He seems to be putting on weight slowly (we wormed him too) but I'm being told I'm still not feeding him enough.
If he's putting on weight, shouldnt it be enough? I dont want to feed him food that is too rich in energy as I dont want him going off his rocker; he's already perked up a bit since he's started getting the lucerne.
Is there any low energy, reasonably priced weight lifter mixes you can buy? What do you use? And would you reccommend me leaving him for a bit on lucerne first, then easing him into some hard feed?
I just dont want him going from grass to lucerne, hay, grass, speedy beet (which I'm looking at buying too, opinions?) and a mixed feed or two.
