I just started hostessing at a fine dining Italian restaurant, and the waitstaff and the owner are unsure of what an adequate tip percentage should be. I don't want to take more than my fair share, but I also don't want to end up short-changed.

I just read online that I'm supposed to bury the "crown" of the plant a full 3"- 4" below the soil level. The plants I got were shipped from TN to CA and I think they were kept in cold storage to keep them dormant before I got them. Including the root system of these plants, they were all of 6" total, no leaves, just 3" - 4" long stems w/ about 2/3rds of that again roots (tiny, really). I think I was supposed to soak them for a day before I planted them, but I was so excited to plant, I just stuck them in a pot & watered them like crazy. Now all the stems are really stringy looking & I'm getting really concerned. Could it still be possible to save them if I bury them completely? Help, all ye gardeners of clematis out there in Y!Answers-land!

My hubby & I are quitting. He's using the patch, I'm trying to go cold turkey. I know the nicotine will be out of me 1st, but is there a time range specific to your body weight or age?

I doubt it! Too bad there were better singers than him that got sent home 1st, though...

It snowed at the 2300 ft level last night, it supposed to be partly cloudy, & I want to know how long my kids will be able to play in it today...

My dog ate about a pound (hopefully less) off the table that we were packaging for the neighbors when we weren't looking. He threw up (we think most of it) within 30 minutes and then several more times over the next hour, until only bile came out. Now he seems fine, but it's a holiday weekend & I hate to bug the vet if I don't need to!

I was driving a one-lane backroad the other day, and there was a bull on the right side of the road as I approached, on MY side of a barbed wire fence. He walked towards me a few steps as I got closer, so I backed up about 300 yards to a place where I could turn around. Would it have been safe to try to pass him?

Why is it classified as an illegal narcotic? Alcohol is so much worse for a person, physiologically, psychologically, and in the long run, financially, as well. History reports that alcohol prohibitioin was a failure. Isn't it obvious to the law makers that their current prohibition of marijuana is a monumental failure, as well? And if so, why doesn't anyone have the balls to do someting about it before more innocent people are put in jail with murderers and rapists? Maybe the lawmakers are too busy raping their own pages to notice...

I have about 15 strings of xmas lights of various lengths and sizes that I want to hang and light, but I'm worried that my energy bill will go through the roof...

I have a gifted child who I think might benefit greatly from a more focused and challenging education than what she's getting in the public school system. However, I can't afford to send her to a traditional private school. Do any gifted schools exist that offer "scholarships"?

I've started several books, but seem to get stumped in where to take them, if they go anywhere at all. I love establishing the setting and setting the scene, it's in taking the reader somewhere that makes sense and actually finishing the story where I get lost. Any advice would be appreciated.
