I know that's oaken is a descriptive word implying or defining that something is of oak or has the characteristic/s thereof. The old norse word for oak is eik. Now my question is two part: a. What word would translate to oaken and b. How would eik be pronounced along with the old norse word for oaken. Now just as a side not, one source I read stated that oaken would be eikin? Please help and thank you

  • need help with th old norse word for "bear" as in the animal?

this is sticky so pay close attention lol. bear as in to carry is bera in old norse so that knocks that outta th way but here's where it gets sticky. Bear in old norse is bj?rn now ive seen it as bjorn and bjarn now the even stickier part is the spelling of bjarndyr with the "y" being accented. now bjarndyr is a combination of bjarn "bear" and dyr "beast" so the word is translated to bearbeast. now i know bjorn/bjarn is a common nordic name esp. in iceland. now the name bjorn/bjarn is suppose to constitute strength but does it have the animal meaning as well? or does the spelling of bjarndyr take the meaning of bear as the animal/

  • a queston about God in Christianity?

OK we supposedly have free will yet God knows all. This is completely contradictory seeing as how if God knows all then we do not in fact have free will because God has already predetermined all thus he knows who is going to heaven and who is going to hell therefor no person is free to live the way they chooe because their life and afterlife have already been decided without them having anything to do with it. Now also is said that God doesn't like to see his creations , his children, suffer. I find this curious because if we don't have free will, like God claims we do, then God creates certain people to specifically go to hell thus he creates them to in fact suffer. This is another contradiction as u can see. So either God said we have free will and we in fact do not thus he lied breaking his own commandment or he does not in fact know all as he claims to thus lying again. Either way either is contradictory. Now why exactly is this if someone would care to explain.

  • about the ways of Christians. im curiouse and need some answers.?

Alright here we go. I'm not here to be offensive by no means, I am a man of the Old Norse Heathen faith seeking answers. Do not judge me. First, Christians are taught not to judge or condemn. I am a Heathen, Christians judge me and tell me I'm going to hell. Why do they do this if they are not supposed to? Two, thou shalt not kill, lie, steal, etc...in the early times of christian conversion, Christians lied, killed, tortured, stole, used trickery and deciet in order to achieve their goals. As I recall all of this is forbidden in the ten commandment and especially so for holy men in the church. They adopted many cultural and pegan beliefs into their religion such as the location of heaven in the sky, hell in general, hades, Christmas, easter, the word amen, certain biblical stories, and so much more was all stolen and adapted for christianity. Christians are taught that knowledge is bad and it is wrong to question. Why? Because theyll find things out that are "forbidden". Why?

  • would it be right to buy a Mjolnir/Thor's Hammer pendant that has a lions face on it?

OK here's the deal I've been considering this and researching on the subject for quite some time now and am wondering if it would be right for a person of Heathen faith to bear a Hammer with a lions face on it. See I've heard that a lion symbolizes courage, but to I've years that Christ was also dubbed the Lion of Judah. Just as well Richard the Lion Heart was an English Christian king back in the Christian Crusades. Now I've never heard of a lion in the Eddas or myths, legends or lore that I've heard concerning the Old Norse and this is why it concerns me so. Can somebody please help me? Thank you

why would there be a lion on a mjolnir pendant? i thought the lion was more or less a christian symbol.?

I want a huge mjolnir pendant but I don't understand why there'd be a lion on it? A wolf, bear, preferably a bear, an eagle, or perhaps a raven, but a lion? I'm afraid they lost me. Please help and thank you. And as a side note if anyone knows where I can find a pendant of this size or larger made preferably of steel and preferably with a bear on it please let me know. Just as well were their any true fascinations with the Norse a skulls? Link included to skull mjolnir pendant: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/350870329612?lpid=82

    Thanks again

  • what are some great sandbox/open world games with character creation.?

I have saints row 2 & 3, fallout 3 & NV, oblivion & skyrim, all fables, two world's 1 & 2, Dragon age 1&2, kingdoms of amalur, bully, divinity 2, red dead redemption, so this should give an idea of what I'm into. I have dead island farcry 1&2 etc but they don't have character creation. Fable, Akron, saints row 2&3 all were awesome and in my top 5. So I'm only looking for open world sandbox games w character creation, the more in depth the better and the more stuff to do in the game the better . And as a side note I do have minecraft and terraria. Thanks

  • spiritual/religous guidance needed?

First off this is a serious and important matter to me so only serious answers pleaseand thank you. For a while now my heritage has been weighing heavily on my mind..I was adopted and raised Baptist Christian but never felt welcome in church or in the faith itself almost like I didn't belong. I've grown up am 25 now and have studied my Norse heritage extensively and feel at home in it like it is right. I found the Valknut and felt a strong pull deep in me what do I do. I feel as if though it's right like I am almost being pulled to convert to Asatru and that is where i belong faithwise. Is this the correct thing to do? Why is the pull so strong? Is my soul trying to tell me something? What am i sipposed to do from here? Is thete a readon for feeling this way? Why is christianity the only religion that had been forced througjout history? Why do christions condemn those they cant convert? who can i talkto about all this? Why arent christians supposef to question? please give me advice
