I am used to working on elements 5 and have recently installed elements 14. I prefer to work on images in elements 5 but just clicking a file brings up elements 14 even when I have elements 5 open.I can right click the image and click "open with elements 5" but I'm wondering if there is someway to make 5 the default.

Kinda embarrassing, made a data cd of some pics on sonic record now but can't figure how to open the files to view.Looked in the help section, it has a lot of info on recording but I can't find out how to open the pics.Help an old guy from the 1950's.

I'm trying to set up file and printer sharing on 2 desktops hooked to a comcast modem thru a netgear router.Both work online.The IP addresses are 192.168.1.1 (router) 192.168.1.2 (1st PC) and 192.168.1.3 (2nd PC).

!st PC will ping router and itself, fails to ping 2nd PC. 2nd PC will ping router and 1st PC but fails to pig itself.

I have run the network wizard and reset the modem, router and PC's,thereby exhausting my technical knowledge.I'd appreciate any ideas.Thanks

I had an old Lexmark printer that I would regularly refill the ink cartridges with no problem. When it died I got a new Lexmark model X2670. It won't let me refill. Looking online I read the chip in the cartridge is the problem and the work around is to tape the left vertical row of contacts. I did that, now the cartridge shows a question mark status and I can print but black prints as a muddy red.

So I'm looking for a new printer that would allow cartridge refilling.I read some models can be reset with a chip resetting tool. Any recommendations will be appreciated.

I have read that the G clef ( for piano right hand ) determines the value of the notes on the lines and spaces of the staff (EFGABCDEF) and I'm curious as to why. If we had such a thing as an E clef then the bottom line would be C, the leftmost key on the piano keyboard.

Wondering if there is a technical reason for the G clef of is it just a "no reason just company policy" type of thing.

I'm cleaning my oven, having a hard time replacing the door.I push the prongs on the door in, it seems to seat but it is too high. I have this trouble every time I clean it,usually get it in after many tries .Anyone know a short cut? Thanks, Pete

I have an old Sears sewing table I would like to drop a brother sewing machine into, wondering if anyone has done this. The original machine (gone) swung down out of the way so the drop table could fold up.

I looked online for an adaptor but didn't find any. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm wondering why digital cameras haven't followed the pricing of electronic calculators. Calculators were costly when they 1st came out, now they are very cheap. I thought that by this time there would be a point and click in the 15 - 20 dollar range.If anyone knows of one please let me know. Looking for one to leave in the glove box. Thanks

The recent demonstrations over tuition hikes in the CA university system makes me wonder why education should be so expensive in the 1st place. The schools product (knowledge ) is public domain - so couldn't some enterprising company ( Walmart University?) train some unemployed teachers, rent some commercial real estate and open for business charging lower tuition and still make $$$. ?

Textbooks - hire a tech writer to write the manual, burn a cd for each student.Offer online classes.It seems like there is not enough competition in education. What am I missing?

Well I'm a lapsed Catholic, I disagree with church teachings, but we were visiting relatives recently and we accompanied them to church.

I always liked the mass, the ceremony, the music candles,etc except for the sign of peace and holding hands while praying. Creeps me out. Anyhow the local church said in the paper there would be none of that for a whiledue to the flu scare. I am temped to go to church this sunday just to not have to do that stuff. Am I alone on this or are there other non touchers out there?

In the catholic mass members give a sign of peace - a handshake or hug. Are there any christian (lutheran, methodist ,episcopalian, etc ) that don't have this custom?

You go to college to get an education ( knowledge ). The knowledge is free.So where is the expense? The facilities aren't lavish, the teachers aren't getting rich. Would a Walmart university be able to offer a BA at a reasonable price?

1. I got an email that warned that if you use your remote to lock your car in a parking lot someone nearby with a device to pick up the signal from the remote will be able to open your car after you leave. My users manual says the alarm generates millions of codes. True or urban legend?

I live in a duplex and our kitchen vents are very close. When they cook ( steak, smells like ) the fumes come down our kitchen vent and trigger our smoke alarm. We run our vent fan, that helps. Wondering if there is a anything to put on the vent that would act like a valve, letting our vent run but preventing fumes coming in?

I try to save to my desktop, get a msg. "Cannot write to directory C:\documents and settings\pete\desktop". Clicking help,I get " make sure you have rights to that directory" Any Ideas? thanks, Pete
