  • How should I handle my recent time as an unpaid caretaker on my resume?

I have been the sole caretaker for my recently deceased father for the last 3.5 years. His income was our income, so now I MUST find another job. I spent 10.5 years in higher education administration, before becoming a caretaker. I am not sure how to handle the employment gap for my time as a caretaker.

  • How quickly could you have a negative drug reaction to Lipitor?

My dad was recently in the hospital. Without consulting either of us (I have power of attorney & it was in his chart.), a doctor started him on Lipitor. Shortly, thereafter, he was disoriented, confused, & violent which is nothing like him. He is fine now & home, but after reading his discharge orders & a quick internet search, I am wondering if the Lipitor started the confusion, et al. Could his reaction to it have actually started within a couple of hours?

  • Best way to reduce heating costs with central heat & air?

We have rooms in our house that we rarely use. We have two returns - one in each hall & vents in each room, larger rooms have two or three. I would like to not have to fully heat the areas we don't use, but I don't know what my best option is. Should I close vents, close doors, or both? Or is there nothing I can do?

  • Can a mouse open a cabinet door?

I'm not asking if mice can push a cabinet door open from the inside, but rather if one could pull a door open from outside the cabinet.

  • What if I dont have pallbearers?

As his only living descendant, I will be planning my grandfather's funeral when he passes. (He's 90.) When I try to discuss specifics with him, he tells me that he doesn't care about speakers, songs, pallbearers, etc. My mother was his only child & my Dad is not physically able to be a pallbearer. I don't have a husband, children, or brothers. My grandfather has LONG outlived his siblings & most of his nieces & nephews. I have no ideas for who to ask to be his pallbearers. If I can't find anyone, will the funeral home do that?

  • Early 1990s Country Song?

I am trying to recall the name of a song that my friend's dad had played at her wedding. He had the chorus played first which was appropriate, but funny. The wedding was in July of 1994, so it must pre-date that.

I know there is a verse about how to care for this girl. I think there is a prior verse about taking care of a car, but I could be wrong. I wish I could recall more about the song. I know the singer was male.

I don't want to ask my friend, because that marriage ended when her husband cheated on her.

  • Wonton or eggroll wrappers in chicken and dumplings?

Our family prefers thin dumplings in chicken & dumplings. We have used sliced flour tortillas as the dumplings before, but now I am wondering, if sliced wonton or eggroll wrappers would work like noodles. Has anyone tried this?

  • Wrestlemania 28: match order...?

I think HHH v. The Undertaker was the best match of the night. I think it should have been the main event, not mid-card. What do you think?

  • Do I want a heat pump?

I am replacing a 26 year old HVAC unit. We use propane heat. I have been given a price similar to what I have & also one with a heat pump. I live in North Alabama. Is the heat pump worth the extra 2-3 thousand dollars?

  • What is the origin of Cherokee casserole?

While looking through several cookbooks today, I found a new casserole called Cherokee casserole. It sounds good. I plan to try one of the variations that I found this week. I am curious about the name, because there is nothing in it that makes me think "Cherokee" (which my great grandmother was). One of the cookbooks that I was using was about 40 years old. Several of the versions that I found online mention a grandmother making it, so I am very curious about the origin of the name.

  • Why does corn (in any form) upset my stomach?

This is a recent development. I have IBS & have had to limit my whole corn consumption for about ten years. Within the last six months, I have become intolerant to corn in ANY form. Popcorn, cereal with corn, & corn tortillas have all made me sick within 30 minutes of eating them. The discomfort is in my upper abdomen. Within another 30 minutes, I have an urgent, explosive, loose BM.

Most of what I've read about stomach problems & corn are about trouble digesting the whole kernel. Is there something with corn, like there is with gluten?

  • Why can my elderly father no longer read?

He's never had the best reading skills, but he could read. Now when he tries, it's like he doesn't recognize the letters or he's looking at another language. Could this be a vitamin or mineral deficiency causing this apparent misfiring of synapses?

  • Is a high efficiency HVAC unit worth the extra initial expense?

We have to replace our a/c & heating unit before we need heat, because the supply has rusted through on the heating. The unit is 23 years old, so I knew it would happen soon. Anyway, I am trying to decide whether the extra initial cost of a more energy efficient model is worth it. The one that we are looking at that is not is a 13 seer 5 ton cooling gas heat with LP conversion. The a/c unit is electric, but we use propane heat. I live in N. Alabama, so we use the a/c MUCH more than the heat. Any insight is appreciated.

  • Why is my elderly father always freezing?

I know it could be circulation & I am trying to convince him to go to the doctor. My father not only complains of feeling like he's freezing & can't get warm. He's actually cold to the touch in a 70 degree room. Could it be anything other than circulation? I'm just wondering what all I need to ask to have checked.

  • What do you think it means if you sincerely have to THINK about your age when asked?

I truly don't think about age much, but my birthday is soon & someone asked how old I will be. I truly had to stop & figure it out. This is not new. I have been this way since my mid-twenties. I'm just wondering what that says about me. Thoughts? Sources for your ideas would be great. :)
