  • This is about mainland Chinese preferences. It is for ladies.?

I want to create a bedroom suite that will appeal to female guests from China. What kind of bed linens would please these ladies? Are there brands that they like? Colors that they prefer?

  • Best and cheapest international mobile phone and plan?

For a person who will travel from China to the USA and spend a few months in the USA, what is the best and cheapest mobile phone and calling plan? She will want to make calls to China and receive calls from China.

  • Is this okay in mainland Chinese culture?

I want to know if this scenario is acceptable in Chinese culture.

There are two visitors in an American household. One is a young married woman. Her husband is not with her. She has a bedroom with its own bathroom to herself. The other is a young unmarried man, a student, who also has a bedroom to himself. Just wondering if this is okay, or if either person would be uncomfortable with it.

  • Weird behavior from Craigslist respondents?

So, I put an ad on craigslist. It tells the prices of the items clearly. It also specifies cash sales only. No certified checks, other checks, money orders, wire transfers. It also specifies that I don't do shipping. Why do people keep emailing back proposing to send me a certified check and asking me to ship the stuff? It doesn't just seem stupid, it looks like a really boring waste of their time.

  • treatment of patients who have had the Roux en Y in primary care?

There's lots of information about the post operative period. I need the title of a book or medical journal article on treating these patients further down the timeline, in primary care, when they get routine illnesses. They are chemically and anatomically different from other people; they dehydrate more easily; interruptions in their eating habits affect them more strongly. I need credible professional information on their medical management in the years after the surgery.

  • AARP health insurance application questions?

If you have filled out an application for AARP health coverage, maybe you can help me. I need to know if they ask if a person has had surgery within the last five years, and anything else that you can remember of the questions. The way the site works, I can't find out what they ask without actually applying. Thanks very much for any information anyone out there can remember.

  • Do you think we are going to have societal meltdown in the United States?

If you do, when do you think it will start? Do you plan to sell out and leave, or do you have other plans for coping?

  • Are pomegranate, fig, and camellia/magnolia good for firewood? If so, how long must they dry after cutting?

Pomegranate tree's been dead a while, I just cut it down. Others are fresh-cut. I would like to recycle my yard's deadwood by burning it in the wood stove.

  • Please suggest some novels with happy endings?

My mother's housebound, recovering from illness, seriously bored, rather depressed. She likes Jan Karon's books. She doesn't like most contemporary fiction because it has too much sex and violence for her (she has a very low tolerance for sex and violence). Could anyone suggest some novels that have happy endings, a generally upbeat tone, no graphic sex, no graphic violence, and enough substance to appeal to an intelligent person? I need to get this woman something to read. Thanks very much in advance.

  • Depressed, very angry older adults?

Those of you who are caring for elderly parents, do you find that they feel very low and angry much of the time? How can a person help them?

My mother is in poor health, with serious mobility problems, and living with me because she needs a lot of physical assistance. She is angry about that, but also because of things like the decline of analog TV and what she calls "sex and little rat-tailed girls" on cable TV. That is, things I can't possibly help. She has long crying tantrums. She woke me up in the middle of the night because she thought there was no ice in the fridge (there was, plenty). That kind of thing is beginning to be frequent. I'm worried for both of us.

  • About Christianity and general happiness...?

My mother, who is a committed and sincere Christian, is the unhappiest person I've ever met. Now I know that faith doesn't guarantee an easy ride, but shouldn't it help a person know where she stands and help her through challenging times? (She is not deprived or neglected; she's luckier than most but can't seem to see it.)

I am moving her and my dad into my household because they can't take care of themselves without help, and I have to admit I'm worried about being around that kind of toxic mood 24/7. It's the usual thing for her to be anything between depressed and a total meltdown; it's remarkable and unusual when she's in a decent mood. (She is supposed to take antidepressants but won't take them, and they didn't have a tremendous effect when she did.)

  • People who have had to deal with stalkers, what are the signals that the stalker is about to go physical?

Stalker is female and has attacked through email (obscene and aggressive). Her first target is a male neighbor. She was silent for months, then started again. She has reached out to his friends, of which I'm one, and gotten a bunch of people nervous. I do not respond to any of her communications - that's the standard advice when this kind of thing happens.I don't want to upset anyone who's had to deal with something like this, but if you have been there and know what the danger signals are (that someone is about to appear on your doorstep and try to harm you), and are comfortable discussing it, please help by sharing your knowledge. (My house is well secured, and I carry my cell phone all the time...got that stuff covered. I need to know what behaviors by the stalker are red flags.)

  • How do you get rid of Microsoft's new nuisance...?

the screen that appears when I open Word and says that my copy of the software is not genuine? I bought it from them, so if it's not genuine, they have only themselves to blame, and I don't want to buy the newest version, or anything else I don't need, right now.

  • One for you Buffalo, NY residents out there...?

Is Moselle Street (near Concordia Cemetery, right off Walden) a fairly safe residential area? (I know nowhere is perfectly safe; I just hope to avoid any place that really is a dangerous slum with a really unmanageable amount and kind of urban crime.)

I want to buy a home in Buffalo and have just seen a residential listing there that interests me.

  • What home health care equipment for elders does Medicare cover?

I need a walk-in handicap bathtub or walk-in shower for my mother. Her mobility problems are getting too bad for her to use a normal bathtub, and those handicap fixtures are very expensive. (I cannot lift her in and out of a bathtub. She isn't huge, but she's way heavier than I am and has little strength in her legs, so she can't help much.)

  • If you've got a Cat Genie litterbox, does your cat like it and use it with no problems?

Just interested in finding out if cats who are used to clay or clumping litter make the transition to the Cat Genie with no problems or with only problems that can be overcome. Thinking about getting a Cat Genie.

  • Thin and cold? What helps you stay warm?

Other than keeping your house heat up high? (I keep a couple of rooms warm and close off the rest of the house, which would be unaffordable to heat.)

I've managed to get my weight down 20 pounds below anything I've ever achieved as an adult. It is low normal. I'm delighted. My problem is...I freeze. I have various kinds of winter underwear, wool socks, and a heater under my desk, but my hands and feet seem to stay cold. It's distracting. Any smart ideas out there?

In a mountainous, remote area where cell phones don't work, do beepers and pagers work? How about old-fashioned car phones, the kind some people used to have before cell phones?

  • How do you help someone who is in a mental institution, not receiving good treatment, maybe in danger?

This is someone who is physically disabled and mentally not too coherent, not consistently able to advocate for himself. Are there organizations that will help relatives advocate for patients in these situations? Any tactics that people have tried and found effective?
