  • In Yahoo Answers are some readers employed directly or indirectly to look for violations, even petty ones?

are there individual staff or volunteers who read through questions and answers as to find those that violate community standards? I was guilty a few times of violating a few standards partly as I was trying to be cleaver or funny. But my impression was some persons were making real efforts to make borderline content go over the line rather than give the writer benefit of the doubt. The kids who loved to tattle back in elementary school?

  • who is Mike and does he look like his avatar?

The ask Mike gimmick is cute, useful. For full disclosure, who is mike or is mike just a made-up persona? Does Mike always ask questions within Community Guidelines or his Mike allowed a bit of leeway?

  • How can people believe they were abducted by aliens?

There is almost no way someone could believe they were abducted by space aliens. It is impossible and so obviously impossible that no way the person can dupe themselves into believing it really happened to them. The person would tell the story for attention or money but it is not possible to have happened. Same with crop circles. Aliens! Please!

  • If I had a parent different from the one I now really have, let us say my father married another woman who th?

If I had a parent different from the one I now really have, let us say my father married another woman who then gave birth to me, would my life count as me now? That is would I feel like me with only one parent the same or do I need both to be me?

I wonder why, how do I exist now? What is different, why did I not feel like me fifty years ago for example? Anyway, however that is, I don't know. But do I need one parent or both (original parents)? To be uniquely me? Can I exist again, that is feel like me again in another place and time and body, not knowing the old me? Personality traits, aware of myself apart from others, etc, are such ways of distinguishing ourselves from others. Can we be in two persons at once?

  • Jesus on other planets or maybe someone like Jesus?

This question will have just guesses as answers since it seems impossible to know, if there is life on other planets, regarding Jesus, since he appeared on earth and it seems made his statement to put it informally, what would be the case for persons on other planets in the universe? Would he also appear on those planets? Or is it possible some planets had societies which did not need Jesus in order to adopt and live in the Christian manner?

  • God's warnings: Perhaps we see cause and effect where it just isn't there?

Religious people, my question is simple yet I never hear it asked, discussed or taken seriously. With prayer, one hears of answers coming in the form of calamity set upon a person or persons or countries as a sign of God's anger at their unholy behavior. Take the recent diaster of your choice and someone will have assigned it as a result of God wanting to let the country or whoever know how angry He is and that they must change unless they dare Him to strike again! And it is always indirect, vague, non-sequiter and oblique connections between how and why God would do such a thing to indicate some warning about bad behavior and to further assume the correct behavior is already known so just stop the bad behavior. Just a real logical insanity. I think it would be easier if God were to put up a billboard or manifest Himself and spell out what He thinks is bad behavior and what is correct behavior. Then people would have no doubt He exists and atheists would fall to their knees in supplication!

So under the obvious doubtful connection between God and calamities to purportedly alert us that He is going to really come down harder the next time, could we not just admit we may be barking up the wrong tree?

  • Good Customer Service?

I went into a well known store and saw a tooth brush holder. Sign above it said these were on close out and only $4.99 instead of $6.99. When I went to the counter the clerk had to check the price. She said it was only two colors that this applied to and not the color I had. I did not see it on any sign. I did not buy it. But in any case it was a very bad choice for the store to price by color.

Would you advise me to complain to the store manager or just forget it. It is just the thought of their being unintentionally deceptive over the color.

  • Would Logic be Incorrect for Religious Questions and Can Ants Go to Heaven?

I am asking not to be disrespectful of any religious beliefs nor to suggest that I have the answers or for that matter that anyone could definitively have the answers (excluding any divine individuals perhaps).

I hope that Heaven exists and that it is close to how the Bible and religions of the West believe. How I differ or wonder is in who would be in Heaven, specifically ants, bugs, birds, cats and dogs, worms, etc.

It is obvious that if we go to Heaven we may not be going in our physical bodies. If it is our spirit, why is it not possible or even required that life of any sort can be spirited? The concept I believe is that living persons as we are gives us the spirit. I think maybe this means any living creature could well be set to enter the Pearly Gates. Just an observation that I do not hear much in church or elsewhere. Why are some concerned to surmise of what may be beyond just what is Biblical? Obviously I have some gall to be so smug and I may well be the one who is wrong!

  • Size of a hard disk setting a world record?

The size of hard disks are fairly reasonable considering how much data they hold. But if we built a hard drive the size of a big merry go-round, maybe 35 feet in diameter, how many bytes could it hold? And what challenges would be present to actually read and write to it ? If incorporated into a computer system, what size memory would such a computer require?

  • My question is not designed to draw pity from anyone..in particular but..you know?

Why do I not yet and by now have any Yahoo Answers' Fans? The category is available and I am a rising star, sky rocketing above so many of you. Why then are more or heck any of you not signing up to be a fan of mine? Are you all careful in your evaluations and do you all appreciate the work and turmoil (yes!) I must subject myself to so that I give you, my audience, your demands? I am not too sure that you are. Please. Someone of you must by now go wild over the mere mention of my existing here in Cyber Land?

Will I see those Points add up and up? Is there a Level 8? If not, will one be established before I reach this altruistic level, real or not? My New years is , as you can see, of dubious excitement. Of -- and read this well and think, think, you nitwits! -- this are you so sure?

  • Why is it only one God?

The religions of the times and I suppose going way back, reference only one God. Why? Here is my problem with that notion. For God to "just be" or "always has been" when trying to answer the question of "God created everything but who or what created God?" Fine. My question is just why it could not be :Just has always been Gods, two or whatever count; if God just came into being why not a bunch of Gods just materializing? And I mean this seriously and I do believe in God. What I don't necessarily believe is that any of us, Bible inclusive, know or could possibly know. And may never know although I Do Hope that is not the case!.

  • Should we be considered as back sliders if we do no research?

For instance, I often don't research before answering a question because it takes away some momentum and spontaneity. If it is just laziness, is that not reason enough? So my condition or state of mind may be irrelevant to a proper answer done without research on the question to be answered.

  • Will the Internet ever copy the billing system used by cable television?

What if the Internet was priced based on the subjects and types of the content so that you would pay for bundles such as cable tv has where you get channels bundled with tier pricing? Now I love the fact that so much of what I enjoy and find useful is free on the Internet. I am dreading also any major government entities "managing" the Internet. The two together would be impossible to live with. Either one alone would be very discouraging.

  • God: Is it possible God has a limited time to Exist?

    Could God Die?

As depressing as it sounds, asking if God’s time is limited seems to me no less worthy too contemplate than eternal bliss.

So a big assumption I am going to take is that there is a God in some form or the other. either in the religious depictions of God or in some unimaginable fashion, I am assuming that God is here and presently account for.

And I will leave for another discussion the nature of reality and time and space, matter, dimensions, black holes , and all the many esoteric topics; those, interesting as they are, will need to wait.

Simply stated, here is what I am asking. Eternity is a long time. But going back or running ahead, we are in no position to say what limits might exist on this seemingly endless landscape.

Is the idea that God came into being and yet will end His existence at some multitude of eternities? In other terms, counter to Catholic teachings, for example, there is a beginning and there will be an end. Long off I hope should this be the case. It could be that all is as we hope from Biblical descriptions and descriptions of modern day religions. More to our liking. Gathering His flock together and some point, is there a chance God tells us that we, including Him, actually have a time limit. But don’t worry now, it is billions of eternities away still. Or whatever time frame He gives us assuming He knows Himself?

Of course I could go on about variations of the “end of it all” but I am on shaky ground already.

A pleasant day to us all!

  • If one has his head chopped off in a surgical manner and done so quite quickly, will he be aware of it?

As gruesome as it sounds, I thought of this as gallows humor and still do in the right situation but I wonder. If suddenly my head is on the table, will I have a period of time to view my headless body?

  • Is there a value to writing answers where the author is using lampoonery in giving a reply?

To write answers to Yahoo Answers, should one always attempt accuracy? For the specific question, would an answer which was written to be witty or to kid around be better than not answering at all? It can be boring to read answers sometimes so why not liven up answers a bit on occasion?
