  • Which painting would you say he hung up at 21.20?

An art gallery features a modern work of 'moving art'. The artist stands by a stack of paintings, each featuring a different number. One of the paintings is displayed on the wall.

At certain times the artist removes the painting from the wall and replaces it with a painting from the stack.

At 11am, the artist hangs a painting of the number 30.

At 4pm he hangs a painting of number 240.

At 7.30pm he hangs a painting of number 315.

What painting does the artist hang at 9.20pm?

  • How many cuts?

    A man has a 7-link Belcher chain

(Similar in appearance to paper link Xmas decoration)

He needs the service of a labourer for 7 days at a fee of one gold link per day.

However, each day of work needs to be paid for separately.

In other words, the worker must be paid each day after working and if the labourer is ever overpaid he will quit with the extra money.

Also he will never allow himself to be owed a link.

What is the fewest number of cuts to the chain to facilitate this arrangement and how does that guarantee payment?

(The more the chain is broken/fixed the less valuable it becomes)

  • Which ball is the Odd Ball?

    The Problem:

You have 12 balls identical in size and appearance but 1 is an odd weight (could be either light or heavy).

You have a set of (balance) scales which will give 3 possible readings: Left = Right, Left > Right or Left < Right (ie Left and Right have equal weight, Left is Heavier, or Left is Lighter).

You have only 3 chances to weigh the balls in any combination using the scales. Determine which ball is the odd one and if it's heavier or lighter than the rest. How do you do it?

  • What did the wise man say?

An Arab sheikh is old and must will his fortune to one of his two sons.

He makes a proposition. His two sons will ride their camels in a race, and whichever camel crosses the finish line last will win the fortune for its owner.

During the race, the two brothers wander aimlessly for days, neither willing to cross the finish line. In desperation, they ask a wise man for advice.

He tells them something; then the brothers leap onto the camels and charge toward the finish line.

  • Four People...?

There are 4 persons named One,Two,Five,Ten. they want to cross a bridge, late at night, WITH a lamp.

Maximum of two persons are allowed at a time to cross that bridge. the time taken by each person to cross the bridge is equivalent to their name.

i.e. One takes 1 minutes, Two takes 2 minutes, Five takes 5 minutes and Ten takes 10 minutes to cross the bridge. if two people walk simultaneously then the time taken is the maximum of both,i.e if Five and Ten go together then it will take 10 minutes to cross the bridge.

Also, REMEMBER, Each crossing must include somebody Carrying the lamp

What is the lowest time in which all the four persons will have crossed the bridge?
