  • Help breathing issue? Should I consider asthma?

Hey guys...I am out of ideas here. I am 27...for a few years I have trouble breathing properly. It started with my nose. I don't have mucus (sorry I'm trying to explain as better as I can),I just feel like my nose is swollen on the inside...most of the time. Then I started coughing...quite often and I have mucus on my throat... which I can't get rid off. And for a few weeks now I have the sensation that I can't breathe properly....like the air isn't getting to my lungs.... I did the allergy tests thinking I might be allergic to animals (which I have,I can't see my life without them...and I am also a vet). They came out negative even though I sometimes get rashes from my patients...the ones that have thicker hair.... The blood tests were fine (the blood count...calcium...there were a few) I had a great grandfather with asthma....No one here could figure out what it is.... I had pneumonia a few years ago (2-3 years....) but it wasn't that bad...I didn't stay in hospital at all.... I am starting to think about asthma more and more often....Any piece of advice would me more than Welcome. Thank you.

  • Do you trust your dog's instincts?

There is one guy that really likes me and I have some feelings for him but not that serious despite the fact he is a very nice guy.I like him more as a friend. But my dog goes crazy when she sees him,I can't even say his name without the dog starting to wag her tail and jumping all over the place :))).So I decided to trust my girl and date him, let's see if she had good instincts.

  • Did anyone give ginkgo biloba to their pets?

I have an old dog,a 10 year old German Shepherd and I had a revelation today.I didn't hear gingko is used in my country, for pets but I found a bit of info online, not much though...So I was wondering, has anyone tried this?If yes, what is the dose?Did it help?

My dog isn't sick(except some joint problems which we are treating)but I was thinking it might keep her brain in shape and help her grow old beautifuly.I will be by her side no matter what but I was thinking if I can help her with this?

I am also going to ask the vet,but in my country veterinary medicine isn't too evolved...

    Thanks!

  • What's a good name for my Facebook page?

I love animals and photography. So I want to make a page and share photos of my pets.I have two German shepherds, sweet and gentle but because people usually are afraid of them(due to the size) I call them beasts.I was thingking about "The beasts" as a page name(the albums with their photos are Barking beasts and Purring beasts) but I think it sounds rather strange?

Maybe paws and purrs(just checked and there's already a page with this name so maybe purrs and paws?) or paws and claws? or hearts and paws?

Or maybe something else?Any ideas guys?

    Thanks?

  • Cat internal bleeding?

Hello guys,we need a little help, and please don't judge.I adopted a stray kitten who from her first days glued to me.To be brief, last night as I was talking to my sister(after a loong looong time) I wasn't paying attention to the kitten, she put herself under my sole(I was touching the ground only with my toes) and when I got up I stepped a little(or that's what I felt) on the cat's abdomen but didn't put wh whole weight.Tooked the cat and examined her(she is around 6-8 months),she seemed fine.I monitored her the whole night,I am a vet student. So no sore abdomen, breathing normally, eating, playing, peeing and pooing normally. Her gums are pink(even though, because the last night fright I think they are a bit less pink than usually),she's purring, she comes to me for petting. The question was,can she still have internal bleeding and not show any sympthoms?I love her dearly and wouldn't forgive myself if something happened to her because of me.

  • Any typs on how to stop a kitten from sucking on clothes?

I adopted a kitten from a local NGO.I don't know much about her,she was found on the streets, ready to be eaten by a dog .She's been with me for one and a half month and ever since I got her she comes to me,she starts purring, lays down and then starts sucking on my clothes. She is about 4-5 months.I thought she would stop after a while but nooo way.I love her a lot and she loves me,she's glued to me when I'm home but this sucking drives me crazy.I tried saying no and putting her away, she comes back and does her thing like nothing happened.I tried putting my arm under her head whenever she starts doing it but she moves her head after a while and then starts sucking again.I even tried to raise my voice but I don't want to scare her.I don't know what to do,I'm afraid that if I won't let her suck and I keep pushing her away she won't love me as much.I want her to stop sucking(especially at night) but in a gentle way.Any typs, pretty please? Thanks!

  • How to help a baby dove?

Yesterday I took a baby dove home, took it from under a cat that had just jumped on it.It hasn't got any wounds, just a few feathers missing from it's tail and a featherless area on a wing(small and it doesn't prevent it from flying). The little one knows how to drink by itself and it started learning to eat seeds.I think it is a bit unwell,it looks all fluffy(the feathers don't stick to it's body like I've seen at the big doves) and sometimes I'll see it close it's eyes(in the middle of the day) and it looks like it's sleeping but it won't stay with it's eyes closed for long.I give it vitamins but maybe he needs antibiotics or something else?I"m going to ask the lady at the drug store for animals if she has any ideas but I could use any tips,I know a lot about cats and dogs but very few things about birdies.

  • How do you know when you should let your pet go?

And how do you cope with this decision?I'm asking this with tears in my eyes,I have an 11 year old cat who is very sick. She has feline immunodeficiency(the vet said she wouldn't live to be 10),she only has one eye(with glaucoma) and she can't see with it.She has heart problems and will start coughing because she can't breathe well. She has better days when she seems fine and days when she doesn't like anyone touching her.Now she barely eats anything and she started developing nervous signs(the muscles from a leg will contract all of a sudden or I see her moving her head in odd ways).I don't think she's happy and one one hand I'd like to make it easier for her(cause I know I can't cure her) but on the other hand I feel like I'm giving up on her.I am trying to take her to our vet(the one who diagnosed her and the one where I used to volunteer cause I'm a vet student) but I'm afraid of what he will say,I can't even call him.

  • Please help-Feline imunodificiency?

I have a problem with an almost 10 year old,FIV positive cat.She was diagnosed with FIV 4-5 years ago and we're struggling with this horrible disease ever since.

She has heart failure so we're giving her medicine every day,she also eats dirt and the vitamins we give her seem to no longer help and she doesn't eat much. She went from a huge appetite to normal eating to not eating much all day.

The main problem is that she is kind of constipated.I used to find the brown "treasure" every morning in her litter box, then every two mornings but now the time that passes till I find anything in the litter box keeps getting longer and longer(three days or more).Someone told me this can be caused by her heart medicine that she has to take every day?

My question is what can I do to help help her,it breaks my heart to see her like this and knowing I can't do much. And another thing, can these digestive problems be caused by FIV,because I know her heart problems are a consequence of the disease?

Please help and any piece of advice would be more than welcome!Thank you!

  • What can I do to ease the life of a cat diagnosed with FIV?

Hi!I have a 8 and a half year old cat which was diagnosed with FIV(Feline immunodeficiency). She probably has it from the age of 3 or 4 but we didn't figure what was going on till now.

We had ups and downs,we started an interferon treatment which was fantastic but we quit at the advice of our vet,we had to remove one eye due to a nasty infection which could affect the other eye but we got over that also. Now she started to cough more often than before(if she jumps from the bed she'll start coughing) and I was told she also has heart problems caused by FIV.She also started to lose weight, almost 200-300 grams a week despite she's eating and doing almost no exercise(it's not much but she already lost a kilo and I don't want to imagine what will happen if that goes on)

I don't care for how long she lives,I just want her days to be happy and to feel how much she is loved and in order to do that I'll need a lot of advice. Thanks for taking the time to read this and for the advice.

  • Why is my kitty behaving like this?

My kitty only came to me if she wanted food or if she felt the need to be pet!Almost two months ago we discovered that she had a tumor on the interior of her lip and I took her to the vet!He operated her and she's healing very well now,no signs of it growing back(Thank God!)

Since then she follows me everywhere and she comes and sits near meShe's like glued to me(she even stays with me in the bathroom when I shower-she refusses to go out)She mews to me if I talk to her and if I stop as I'm walking in the house she just stops and looks at what I'm doing? Why is she acting like that(she didn't do anything of these before)
