  • Riding Confidence... Will I get it back?

I had a nasty fall from my horse last year when he bolted and I fell off and fractured my spine (L1 and L2), I was always a gutsy confident rider but now I'm completely wet. My horse is a lovely boy and has a Sweet temperament but can still be a bit nappy when riding out I can usually deal with that he's just trying it on. But I miss having the confidence to ride out alone I used to go out for miles on my old horse and I keep thinking of her at the moment (she was THE one and I sold her for stupid reasons!) I really want to get on with my boy and get my confidence back completely. Has any one got any tips for me? Apart from selling him because I'm not a quitter and I really want to succeed with him! Thanks x

  • Why So Much Ragwort This Year?

Has anyone else apart from me noticed the immense amount of ragwort this year? It seems to be wherever you look. I have been struggling to keep on top of it. I've noticed allot of farmers have just left it too even though it is the law to pull it or spray it!

  • Lame horse!?

My horse was shod just under 4 weeks ago, I have been working him and he has been ok but not brilliant, I put it down to him being a pickle as he can be at 1st but I lunged him last week and the first few paces in trot on the left rein he was very slightly lame so I brought him back to me checked for stones in his feet etc but nothing then tried again he was fine, he still wasn't quite right when I changed rein so I thought he may have twinged himself in the field, I have given him a week off and last night I lunged him again this time he was lame again not hopping lame but still more noticable than last time I swapped reins to check and he was slightly lame on the right again. There is no swellings or heat in his legs or feet so do you think this could have something to do with his shoeing? I have called the farrier and am waiting for a call back! It was the 1st time this guy has shod him and my horse was 100% sound! Maybe a nail has goe in too close and is causing discomfort?

I have just had my implanon replaced, my other one had expired as I got my dates mixed up and was lated getting it changed. My Dr advised me to take care for the next couple of weeks, I was under the understanding that it started working as soon as it was put in. Can anyone shed any light on this.

I am in a stable relationship (3 years) so this is our main contraceptive.

  • Cow proofing my horse!!?

My horse hates cattle he is a 6yo Warmblood and is excellent in the heaviest of traffic but is very suspicious of sheep and hates cattle. He will go past shep all be it very suspiciously he will have a look and heavy breath and grow to 19 hands and become very bouncy but he will go past them! Cattle however he is not good with them at all which baffles me as he lives on a farm!! He is turned out next to them and passes them on the way to the farm yard so he really has no excse! When I 1st got him we did get chased by some but he was fine after a while and got over it a bit, he's been silly going past them but has gone past and relaxed soon after. I went on a long distance ride with a couple of friends a while ago and we went past a field of mischevious bullocks and they thought it very funny to rush the fence and chace us, my horse freaked a little but my friends horse went mental and was rearing and nearly going into a 3foot ditch with her. My horse has been okish since............

  • Bitching at work!?

I recently posted a question about the bitching I get at work. I used to get on really well with everyone I worked with untill this new girl started a few months ago she was introduced to the job by her friend that I work with. I used to work with my mother too and the bitching really started when she left and moved away. It got so bad that one of my work mated shouted abuse right in my face apparently I called her a bad mother!! I've never said that and never would. I have always been one to speak my mind so I wouldn't beat around the bush If I did think that but anyway I was going to leave as this girl had been stirring more ane more things up but it was all about things I had apparently said (she even takes innocent things and twists them)! I am now staying at that place of work but was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on how to cope with all of this? I have spoken to my manager and she has taken me off of all but 3 shifts a month with this girl but I can feel that she

Anyway whthin a few days of wearing it it was already blemished and it is now turning a yellowy colour I've only had it since April. I've got another white gold ring that I paid £40 for 7 years and it is as strong as an oxe and is still it's origional colour. Has he been ripped off here? Should I take it back to the jewlers and complain or is it just me being a bit silly as it's special to me?

  • Sould I stay or should I go?

I've been working in a small home for people with learning difficalties for 3 years now, I love the clients there fab and the only reason I've stayed for so long, the staff team are very clicky and have all turned nasty on me just lately even though I cover most of the shifts so they can go home to their familys. The job isn't very well paid at all and I do about 60 hours a week plus sleep in shifts to pay my bills there only £20 a night and I'm on £5.70 I think! I have been offered a job doing a similar type of thing but working out in the community the starting rate is £7.60 and sleep in's are £40, you don't get paid for milage though but I can claim it back on my tax's obviously this will entail alot of wear and tear on my car but I am pretty goo at keeping her well serviced. What do you think should I stay in my comfort zone or go fo it? I really need help deciding!

  • Am I being bullied? Work!!?

I work in a small staff team and have worked there for 3 years now, I've always got on with everyone but lately it has turned really bitchy. I am opionated and so say what I think most of the time and the senior is the same so were pretty strong willed. Anyway there is this really lazy girl working with us who is friends with another of the girls and she keeps getting dragged in the office by the boss because she is always coming in late going sick etc and not working as part of the team. Anyway the senior had it in for this girl for ages and been slagging her off I did agree with everything she was saying coz it was all true. Now the senior had 2 weeks off as her dad died and has just come back, in the mean time I covered her shifts which meant working with the manager allot and we get on realy well and I would consider her a friend and have done for ages. Well on saturday the senior came barging in the office screaming at me saying i called her a bad mum which I didn't and all sorts

  • Hacking Out!!?

I have a 5yo warmblood, he is in medium work at presnt, he used to have a phobia with cows and sheep but as progressivly got better. However when I was riding past a field full of cows the other day one ran towards the fence and frightened him to the point where he was either going to rear or bolt I managed to contain him but he was petrified snorting and puffing really hard. My question is do you think for the time being I should feed him some calmer (like NAF majic calmer) to take the edge off him whie I get him confident again, his work load will increase soon and I ride in company sometimes too which helps him feel a little more confident and he copes better but I cant always ride out with another person.

He used to be quite nappy and rear etc but he hasn't done anything naughty in ages and has come along way I feel this has set him back and wanted sme advise really!
