  • How about a hunting question.?

I am getting back into bow hunting after a 40 year lay off. Anyway, I picked up a 45 pound recurve, was shocked at the price of cedar arrows and bought carbon fiber (32 inches 8.9 gpi, aluminum inserts). Anyway, no one I know shoots recurve and they all argue about the weight field points/broadheads I should use. I'm committed to the recurve--at least for now--maybe a compound for a retirement gift. Anyway, one guy says heavy, another says light and I'm confused. Can anyone help.

  • Business refusal to return personal property?

Just over a year ago I sent a musical instrument (trumpet) to be restored by a company in Tennessee. I paid in full in advance. In January of this year I was contacted and told that my trumpet was being completed and that I needed to submit an additional $70 to cover return shipping (a totally outrageous fee, but that's another story). Anyway I paid that. At that time they said the horn would be shipped no later than 45 business days (that fell on St. Patrick's Day). Anyway, no horn, no contact, no response from my attempts to contact. Finally BS stories about why they couldn't finish my horn. To make a long story short, contacted law enforcement and received no help. Company refuses to return my horn until they complete the work they were originally paid to do. It seems they perform existing repairs from the money they collect from new customers. People often wait 2 years (or more) for horns to be returned. Can I hire a Tennessee attorney to secure a Writ of Replevin, have it executed, recover my horn and send it to me without first having to go to Tennessee. Secondly, can the attorney file suit on my behalf for recovery of the money I paid them, plus the money I have spent on the recovery process?

  • Anyone hear of recent firearm's confiscations in California?

My friend owns a gun shop and tomorrow he is processing the transfer of a man's firearms to his son. It seems the DOJ (don't know if it's California DOJ or federal) raided his house at 2am this morning and confiscated his firearms because he had suffered from stress after his service in Vietnam. They are going to allow him to transfer them to his son, but the DOJ is delivering them to the shop at 11am tomorrow. I'm going to help with the paperwork so I'll find out more particulars tomorrow. But my question tonight is has anyone else heard of this happening?

  • Medium Format C-41 Processor Recommendations.?

My local film processor just threw in the towel, and I'm in need of a recommendation for a medium format film processor. I'm really not worried about print processing--my local place will continue to made enlargements from negatives. I just need someone who can get my negatives back to me in good shape and preferably for a reasonable price. Any suggestions?

  • Does anyone have any experience using digital backdrops?

With the current cost of muslin and canvas backdrops, I am considering trying digital backdrops. Does anyone use them? Can you recommend any company over another? Any pitfalls or short-comings I should be aware of?

  • How good are the Pentax DSLRs, particularly the 200D?

I am upgrading from a Canon Powershot S60 to a DSLR. I am considering a Nikon D60 and a Canon EOS Rebel Xsi; but I am also considering the Pentax 200D. Bells and whistles are unimportant, all I'm really concerned with is image quality. Does the Pentax hold its own or not. I have searched and searched and can't seem to find any truly objective evaluation. Just want to know if anyone can tell me how the Pentax stacks up against either the Nikon or Canon.

  • Barnes Varmint Grenade question.?

Has anyone had any experience with the 36 grain Varmint Grenade in a .223 Remington? Any reloading information you have would be appreciated. I'll be shooting a 24" barrel with a 1 in 10 twist.
