I live in Colorado. I work in the IT field. I have 4 kids and a loving wife.
Have you ever noticed how so many of the people in the mental heath field have more mental issues than normal?
Just curious if any others see this too. I suppose it makes sense, someone who has problems of their own would be more likely to study this field looking for their own answers.
4 AnswersPsychology1 decade agoWhy do so many gay people speak the same way?
I guess you could call it an accent.. or maybe sometimes a lisp, whatever you want to call the style of communication.
Is it advertising?
12 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender1 decade agoMethod or algorithm or formula for optimal linear nesting?
I put this question in the programming forum, but it might be more suitable to this one.
Lets say you need to cut some pipe for a project. This particular project requires:
15 ea 6 foot lengths
30 ea 3 foot lengths
10 ea 11 foot lengths
All those lengths are of the same materiel
For this example, the materiel comes from the supplier in 20 foot segments, and lets say that we are not allowed to weld smaller pieces together to make any of those parts. We want to know how many full length peices are required, and how to plan the cuts for the least amount of full lengths ordered.
I want to approach this programatically (I want to eventually make a program to do the thinking here). I'm thinking that one way I could do this would be to sort the required lengths then from largest to smallest, then starting at the longest, see if I can fit another of the pieces into a full length bar and if not, try to fit one of the next smaller... etc. Until I have exhausted my requirements. I could then iterate how many stock pieces were required and the cut order as needed.
So using my example:
a ) 15x6
b ) 30x3
c ) 10x11
would sort to
c ) 10x11
a ) 15x6
b ) 30x3
Then the output would be
cab
cab
cab
cab
cab
cab
cab
cab
cab
cab
aaa
aabb
bbbbbb
bbbbbb
bbbbbb
Total of 15 pieces would be needed
I can see how I would go about implementing that method, but I'm not sure if it is optimal. Using intellect I can also see that I could do this cut order :
cbbb x 10
aaa x 5
Though I'm not sure how I could get that output programatically. Is there a more efficient method or formula to use?
P.S. I left off things like materiel loss due to cutting and truing up end cuts intentionally.
1 AnswerMathematics1 decade agoIs there tool in Yahoo! Mail that...?
Is there tool/feature/whatever in Yahoo! Mail that will sort messages? Something like, making all messages from <Email@Address.Com> go into a specified sub-folder.

This is more of a rhetorical question, I know, but perhaps someone has some insight on the matter.
This link does a good job of showing what I mean by the question: http://incompetech.com/Images/caring.png

I'm looking for a good recipe for Sweedish Meatballs. I remember having some served with a generous amount of Rice Pilov (sp?) and it was quite good. What other sides would you recommend with them?

15 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoReligious Names?
Does anyone else find it odd that we Christians (I was raised Catholic) use names like Jesus, Mary, John, Peter, Paul, etc. for people whos names were really something completely different?
I mean, I don't have any idea what their names were, but I think its safe to say that none of them (ok, with the possible exception of Jesus) would have known who you were talking to if you called them by those names.
I know its due to the Bible being translated into English, but really, shouldn't their names have been important enough to make them look something like what they sounded like at least?
Anyway, just a thought that has bothered me for a while... comment or not as you like.
13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDigital Camera Product Feature Idea.?
I've used many digital cameras over the years, and I've always thought there should be a better way to name/label the images. With technology where it is, I think I have an idea.
What about if there were a mini recorder built into the camera. You could take your shot, then hit a "memo" button and append a sound byte that describes the photo. Heck, software on the PC side could even use speach recognition to attempt auto labeling the assosciated photos.
Or does this sould like just another useless feature to you?
