  • My cat has an open wound and has been wearing the cone for about a week. Somehow, he has been able to contort his body to lick at the scab.?

It's come off more than once. However, the open wound has been getting smaller. Should I be concerned, and call my vet, or just not worry about it.

He can barely eat, but still can reach a wound at the top of his back leg!

  • Good replacement buttons for a black suit jacket?

I have a nice black suit jacket that has lost a couple of buttons (and the darn thing was pretty expensive). Rather than replace with black plastic, I thought I might want to go with something more interesting. It's a conservative Hugo Boss suit jacket.

    Would silver buttons look good?

  • I was walking at a brisk pace on my treadmill last night and my face started tingling? Any idea why?

I was googling and came up with nothing for it happening DURING exercising - only after. I was fine after.

If I googled face burning exercise, the replies only dealt with burning fat / calories.

  • When buying term life & you want to have minor children be the beneficiaries, does a lawyer or CPA set up the trust?

I already have a CPA, but if he can't do it, I will need to look elsewhere. The insurance agent told me to just set it up in my will, but I don't think that's the right choice.

  • Toyota car leases - MSRP?

The sales mgr at the Toyota dealer I went to said that Toyota leases start from the MSRP. On the main Toyota site it says "MSRP/Gross Cap Cost".

He made it sound like there is no negotiation on the top number in the lease calculation. Does this sound accurate?

  • Leasing car - most important $ variable consideration in deal? 24 months?

I won't be buying the car at lease end - I am looking at this as a 24 month rental and will be buying a different car in 2 yrs. (This is partially due to non-financial reasons.) My last car (Toyota) was bought new in 2001 and had 117K miles on it when I gave it to my sister 1 month ago (her car died or else I'd be driving my car for another 3-5 years). I had planned on putting $ on the side over the next 3 years to cover much of the cost of the new car. That's all out the window now.

Due to potential personal changes in the next year, I don't feel comfortable locking into a 5 yr financing deal (although I plan on keeping the next car for 10+ years).

After reviewing lease terminology, how to get a better deal on leasing, etc. it dawned on me that for the most part the article were dealing with getting the best deal in the event you decided to purchase the car at lease end. The chance of me doing that is about 5-10%.

So rather than researching the best financial approaches, perhaps I should just focus on a decent monthly payment + down payment?

  • Is it ethical for a divorce attn charge to change a court date if they are the ones unable to be there?

The attn in question was not going to be able to attend prove-up and possible trial because she had a conflict with another trial. She charged me 2 hours to change the date, but this was for her benefit.

  • If revenue is recognized in one accounting year, but cash comes in the next year?

If an invoice is dated period 12, and cash comes in period 1 of the subsequent year, should cash be considered collected in the new year?

  • If called to be a witness in criminal case, can you be in court before testifying?

This is in IL. I know of someone who has had their family put on the defendant's witness list in a criminal case. Can they be in court prior to testifying? I'd prefer a link to back up one's answer.

  • What could be wrong - fall, numb knee, no bruising, slight swelling?

My sister fell and hit her knee at home. Plans on going to the doctor tomorrow.

What could be wrong? A sprain?

  • What satisfies community service for TANF?

My sister's husband left and has not given her any money in support. She has 2 kids under the age of 4 and spoke to someone about TANF today. She has another appt in 2 weeks, but they said she would be required to look for work (apply to 5 jobs per week) and also do community service for 20 hours.

    What qualifies as community service?

  • ADT wired alarm w/o monthly contract?

Back in 1998, I purchased a wired alarm system for my house. I just switched from a landline to comcast voice. Now my alarm system cannot communicate to ADT. At this point after years of paying for the service (and an extra service plan for $4/month, which I've used 1 time in 14 years), I'd rather just use my system to notify me if I am in the house.

The one time that I accidentally set off the panic alarm, it took the cops 40 minutes to get here.

I occasionally do get the 'CP' communication problem notification with a couple of beeps since the system can't dial out. Will cancelling my account change anything?

I looked into NextAlarm which is pretty cheap, but according to their specs, their ABN broadband adaptor will not work with my Brinks box. Any problems with just going solo?

  • How can you determine percentage of ownership in an LLC?

My sister is going through a divorce. Her husband had a business with another man, and they secured financing by soon to be ex's father. I'm not sure about that agreement.

Recently, the 2 partners split/ the other guy 'quit the business' and soon to be ex is claiming he has a very small claim in the company. I don't believe it, but... He's moved out but she does have older tax returns. She's not good with financial records, so I am trying to assist.

I checked the status online (Illinois) and the LLC remains in good status with the state.

Where would the information be located? Articles of organization? Operating agreement? I assume those aren't necessarily filed. Or, can that be gleaned from the prior tax returns? Would it be obvious, or should I take them to my CPA?

Worst case, I would assume that one could tell from the actual books of the company. However, getting any information from him (he is months late on discovery) is tough, and both of their attorneys are typical in that it takes forever to get a call back.

Divorce sucks, but there are 3 minor children involved, and she only wants to get appropriate support for them. She has no desire to mess with the business, but he's not taking a full salary now either, and is playing dirty pool. :(

  • Can replacing motherboard 'lose' RAM?

I know this sounds ridiculous, but my laptop's motherboard was replaced by Dell, and it says I have 2 MG RAM. I am almost certain that I had 4 MG before, and my laptop is running SOO slow.

Of course, I'm traveling for work, can't locate the sales order from dell.com since it's been more than 2 years since I bought it, and my support terminated at 2 years (December). I know I have the paperwork at home, but before I drive myself insane, is this even possible?

  • can a parent visit a daycare if they do not have custody of child?

My sister is getting divorced - he has the kids, and while custody is not decided (no, not even temp although a petition was put in - it makes no sense), my sister has every other weekend visitation.

Can she stop in and see them at the daycare facility? Or can the daycare provider deny her access to have lunch with her son?

  • Divorcing mom not on daycare list?

My sister's going through a divorce, and her husband placed the kids in daycare. She is not on the approved list and he said there was an open CPS case against her (not true). A G.A.L. will probably be appointed within the month, and we'd like to get the info ourselves rather than pay the attn to do so. ($$) Is a daycare provider likely to comply? The woman running the place is a former social worker.

Yes, asking our attn is the right answer, but if you've gone through a divorce, you'll know that getting a call back takes forever and costs $. My sister will be seeing her on the 15th, but the sooner we know, the better.

  • Temporary custody not decided?

Can a divorcing parent visit a daycare where their kids are if custody is not yet decided. The backstory - the father has taken the kids and put them in daycare on his own. Temp custody still not decided. The mother wants to drop in and see the kids, the facility and the emergency contact list.

Is there a problem with her showing up unannounced? She will have the certified copies of the birth certificates with her.
