  • Wellbutrin insomnia. Does it ever go away and what can I do?

I don't want to take pills on top of pills to counteract what pills do to me. Meaning, I do not want recommendations for sleeping pills. I just want to sleep the night through without coming COMPLETELY, I-could-do-my-taxes awake between REM cycles.

I take it for my ADHD, it's the only thing that helps with my mercurial moods and makes me feel balanced and unflappable. It is the only thing I take besides Benadryl on sneezy days. I have been on the medication merry-go-round for several years and this has been the only thing that has worked. But I don't want to give up sleep! I can't even take a proper nap anymore, and I LOVE naps!

  • What games or easy exercises can I do with my arthritic dog?

She s blew out her CCL (knee ligament, basically) several years ago (correcting surgery is $6,000 so completely out if the question) and I ve injured my knee, so even short walks are out of the question for the next several weeks. But the poor thing needs some kind of exercise. I have a fenced in yard. Obstacle courses may require her to jump which I don t want her to do. But she s so full of energy! And I just make her sit here all day and I feel like a jerk. Long story but no there isn t anyone else to walk her. What can I do to at least engage her mind and I don t know, have her just kinda run around the yard a little? It has to be gentle, she re injures herself all the time

  • Recommend a fast, hot, yet inexpensive coffee maker?

I'm replacing my Brewstation because the dispenser got moldy, so I don't want another brewstation. But man it was fast! A whole pot in less than 5 minutes!

What coffee maker brews quickly and HOT. no good to make a fast, lukewarm pot of coffee. Also don't want to spend an arm and a leg, so under $100

  • What is the best way to transport macaroni and cheese casserole to a potluck for Thanksgiving?

I make macaroni and cheese casserole for the holidays and I put it in muffin tins, so that everybody can just pop out an individual portion. (my grandma calls them walkamacs because she likes to pop one out and then just walk around the house noshing on it)

My question is, how to get them to grandmas house that is an hour away? Every year they're all rubbery by the time I get them there. I can't make them at my grandmas, she has specifically told me that she won't be able to spare any space in the oven. How can I get them there so that they are still crispy/chewy? I don't want them all waxy and rubbery!

  • How do I (or do I) get maroon from brown?

I am working on a small project and have mixed together a bit too much brown. I really don't need much maroon paint for the next step, and the brown looks kind of maroon-y. Any way to get it to cross over, or has the yellow ruined it?

  • How do I make my screen print ink runny again?

I am using Speedball opaque fabric ink and it was left on my back porch by mistake. I go several days between batches and this time when I used it, the white was super gloopy. Had the consistency of thick paint, while the red stayed wonderfully runny. I suspect it got some early evening direct sunlight. Do you think I could safely thin it with water, perhaps? The label doesn't say if it's acrylic or water based, but since it air dries fairly quickly (hour-ish) I'm going to assume it water based. I'm new to screen printing and would love some experienced advice. I also paid like $25 for this jar of paint and hate to think more than half of it is now unuseable. I did print a batch and it worked ok, it's just much gloopier.

  • How do I transfer contacts from non smartphone to iPhone 4s? different carrier?

I am leaving Verizon for AT&T. I've got a Samsung Intensity II with Verizon, and my new phone is an iPhone 4s. Normally I transfer contacts using bluetooth but they won't pair. Says it's "unsupported." I can't use Verizon's Backup Assistant due to a glitch with the Samsung being pre-owned. I can't use the iCloud because a Samsung Intensity just can't do anything that fancy. Any low-tech ideas? Can AT&T do it if it's not an AT&T phone?

If we could refrain from giving our opinions about my choices and stick to answering my question I'd appreciate it :) thanks in advance!

  • How to make light paint show on dark canvas fabric?

I make bean bags called cornhole bags, and I want to do a Bengals theme. I use a very sturdy fabric called duck canvas. Doing black on orange, obviously, showed up just fine. Orange on black, not so much. I used fabric medium with the paint but it just soaked right in. Suggestions?

I KNOW fabric paint is best. I don't need links to sites that sell fabric paint; I need to know what I can do to work with what I've already got (and already spent money on). The idea is to keep it at a bare minimum of expense as I don't have a very high profit margin. I've been using acrylic paints and heat setting it and that's been working fine, but light paint on black fabric is a whole new challenge. What can I do? Just accept that I'm going to be doing multiple layers?

(I do have this in two categories so if you think you already saw this question, you did. I just wasn't sure which category would be best)

  • What kind of paint works best on fabric and is inexpensive?

What kind of paint works best on fabric and is inexpensive?

I make the tossing bags for a beanbag toss game called cornhole. I literally make hundreds. I want to start including stenciled pictures but fabric paint is $6 for a teeny bottle that does one set of bags before I run out. What OTHER kind of paint can I use on duck canvas? Acrylic? Latex? What wouldn't soak all through the fabric yet stick around through a little abuse? The bags can't be washed or left our in the rain, so that's not a problem, but they do get flung at plywood boards.

  • My homemade laundry detergent is too harsh and makes holes in my clothes. What can I do?

    The recipe I use:

    1c Borax

    1c washing soda

1 bar Fels Naptha or 1/2 a bar of Zote (because theyre huge)

It took me a year to come around, but my fella noticed holes appearing in his boxers first. I had to replace a 500 thread count sheet only to have the new one tear the exact same way and have a hole appear in one of my favorite oversized shirts before I accepted that this stuff is just too strong/harsh and just seems to tear some stuff up. (I know it's great for people with sensitive skin but that's because it's fragrance free.) What can I change? I LOVE the money I save using homemade laundry detergent but it kind of gets negated every time I have to replace a $40 sheet!

  • The leaves are falling off my plant, what did I/do I do?

I think it's a Alternanthera ficoidea, with pink and green leaves. It's a small plant, I can hold the pot in the palm of one hand. It was very pretty when I bought it, but now it's more or less a pt of sticks. I'm new to houseplants, but I've been doing pretty god. My secret is fishtank water. Plants loooove it. But I have kept the soil most, kept it in the sun, and the leaves just keep falling! At first it was growing new leaves, but now they, too are falling off. And they don't turn brown, which is weird. The just start getting crispy at the tips and then drop from the stem. I'm at a loss.

  • Will a plant get bigger if its pot gets bigger?

If I get a bigger pot, will my plant get bigger? It's been in the smaller pot for a couple years. I was at a friends house recently and she had one and it was the same leaves but was the size of a small tree! My question is, if I get a bigger pot, will my plant also get super big, or will it stay the size it is since it was in the smaller pot for so long?

  • I need to use an app; should I get a Droid or an Ipod touch?

First you need to know I'm a technophobe and don't really care which can do the coolest stuff, so I'm not looking for which is the better device overall. I just need to know which will suit my needs the best, or if I should even bother.

I just need it for ONE app. I'm a substitute teacher and this app alerts me when a teacher puts up an absence. Since sometimes teachers realize about 3am or in the middle of a Saturday that they aren't making it in, so I need this app to be on all the time.

The Droid, as I understand it, will need a data plan to work which I do not currently have and which will add $30 to my bill. An expense I would like to avoid. I'm in grad school and money's tight.

The iPod will work without a data plan but will only work where there's wifi access. This will open up the places where I can be notified slightly..But, in the course of a normal day for me, if I have wifi access I'm probably near a computer and therefore the iPod is unnecessary.

    So, iPod, Android, or neither?.

  • I moved my bean plants to a larger pot and broke the roots. Is there any hope?

I'm an amateur at gardening, but my initial attempts have gone well and I think I got a little cocky. This year I'm doing a potted garden as I have moved into an apartment. I've realized that the pots I have the plants in are way too small and decided to re-pot them. I assumed I would just dig around each plant and put it into the new pot. I knew you were supposed to keep some of the original dirt with the plant when you move pots, but I did not know the root system would have filled the whole pot my now. So in digging around the plant, I severed just about the entire root system. Each plant still has a bundle of those little hairy roots around the bottom, but when I turned the pot over to dump the rest of the dirt into the new pot I saw it was webbed and crisscrossed all over with roots.

Are they goners? Should I start all over? I'm in Ohio; I still have time to start over, but barely.

I also have some yellow squash and zucchini that need repotted and now I'm afraid to move them! How do you recommend I go about re-potting the squash plants? I do not have time to restart them, I think.

  • My air conditioning compressor won't turn on. 1999 Alero?

Back in Oct I had my car guy look at it and I swear he said something was loose, it would be a teeny yet rare-ish part he could get at a junkyard for under $10. I already had bought the Freon but we didn't address the issue b/c he couldn't locate the part right away and it got cold soon after. The Freon stayed in my car. Last week I told him it was time to do it, and he starts talking about how we need a new compressor. I told him that I could have sworn he ruled out the compressor back in October but he insisted. So last week we replaced the compressor but couldn't test it b/c I had forgotten the little hose that you need to put the Freon in the car. (If I'm using the wrong word and it's not technically Freon but something else, I'm not worried about exactly the right vocab as long as you understand what's going on). Today I finally had a chance to put the Freon in and ... nothing. The little pulley toward the bottom doesn't spin at all, indicating the compressor isn't kicking on.

    Could the problem be:

    A) old Freon? It was in 2 of the smaller cans, all sealed and everything. It was in my car though, and rolled around and in different temps... I just didn't think that stuff ever 'went bad' but my boyfriend (who is not the car guy mentioned earlier) says nothing seems to be coming out of the bottles.

    B) TWO bad compressors? The unspinning pulley wheel was also not spinning with the old compressor. Seemed to me it was a different pulley that Tommy (car guy) pointed out to me than what Adam (bf) pointed out, but there's a BIG chance I'm wrong about that.

    C) If, for whatever reason, the Freon didn't get into the car, would THAT cause the pulley not to spin? Will it just not work if there's no coolant? Or does that even matter, and it would spin regardless but wouldn't blow cool air if it was a Freon issue?

    or what?

For the negativos out there: Tommy has no reason to stick it to me or give me the runaround, so don't assume ulterior motives. He is a good friend of the family and is a certified mechanic who's raising a family. He only charges me what I can afford to pay him and if it doesn't work he works for free the next time. I can't reach him on the phone and he lives 45 minutes away so it's not looking like I'm going to get a hold of him today, and it's hot out! I want my A/C to work!

  • Can I use the KVM switch for just the monitor?

I'm about to start working from home, and they gave me a KVM switch. However, in my harddrive I have only usb ports, not the green and purple connectors for mouse and keyboard. So I can't use the KVM for the K and the M. Can I still use it for just the monitor? If so, how? I have it hooked up to my hard drive and the slimclient my job gave me, with each hard drive having its own mouse and keyboard but the KVM switch in the monitor ports. My monitor say no input. What can I do?

  • How can i tell if transmission fluid is low for 99 alero?

It doesn't have a disptick, and the cap is on the bottom part of my engine (not underneath, just way down there). And I am not draining all the d**n fluid, no way. I read I'm supposed to see if the fluid is up to the low line, but I can't see the stupid line! Anyone who has seen an Alero engine will know what I'm talking about. If you have never seen a 99 Alero engine with your own two eyes, please don't bother to answer. This is an anomaly unto Aleros alone.

For example, if I stick a popsicle stick or a pen or something in there, how much fluid should stick to it? An inch?

It's been making this whiny noise for weeks, like it's winding up. Someone said it's my tranny, but it hasn't gotten any worse. It shifts at right very near 2000 RPMs, like 18-1900. But it isn't worsening, so I'm thinking just low fluid, or maybe I need a flush. Taking suggestions on what that could be, too.

    Thanks for your help!

  • What seasonings are in a beef stew seasoning packet?

I went to the store and bought all the fixins for beef stew, and don't you know I forgot to buy a seasoning packet, which I rely on. Does anyone know the spices/seasons they use? I have all the basics, and beef bouillon. Think I can duplicate it? Or come close?

  • Why does my meatloaf cook unevenly?

It's always cooked more on the top than the bottom. I cannot for the life of me think of a way to rectify this. I cook in a glass loaf pan, and the recipe calls for 350 for an hour but that leaves the bottom downright raw. It usually needs upped and cooked a little longer than that just to get all the meat cooked and even then the bottom is . . . squishier? than the top.
