  • Issues with shower faucet temperature?

I have a stand up shower with a Delta Monitor faucet that controls two shower heads.  The shower head on the opposite wall has a manual valve at the shower head and I usually leave it off.  Recently the water temperature has gotten colder but if I open the valve to the second head it will quickly warm up to what it should be at according to the faucet handle location.  If I then shut the valve for the second shower head the temperature will stay hot.  Is this likely a problem with the Monitor faucet?  I'm wondering if I should install a new cassette/insert.  I was thinking it might be a problem with out electric hot water heater but the temperature changes pretty fast so thinking it wouldn't respond that quickly.

  • How to put a rod in a 5HP Briggs & Stratton?

I'm getting ready to reassemble a 5HP horizontal shaft B&S and the rod has an oil hole drilled in one side. I'm not sure if the hole goes towards the flywheel or away from it.

  • '92 Lumina Van Electrical Problems?

My uncle has a Lumina van and the battery will go dead after it sits for a day. It has an electrical short somewhere in it. Is there a common trouble area with these vans? One mechanic told us that the van will enter a safe mode for 45 minutes so it will be hard to hook a multimeter up between the battery and cable to check for a draw. Is this true?

  • '99 Silverado taillight problem?

I'm borrowing a friend's Silverado and messed something up with the lights. I accidentally connected both terminals in the LH tag light socket. When I did that the LH tail light quit working. The filament looked ok but the bulb looked black inside so I replaced it. The brake light works but the tail light will not come on at all. Also, the automatic lights don't work now either...they did before. Everything but that one bulb will light up if I turn the headlight switch itself on.

Can anyone point me in the direction of what to look for? I checked all of the fuses in the side of the dash and they were ok.

  • Will the same TV set work in foreign countries as well as the U.S.?

There is a TV available locally for free that the lady said worked great in Germany when she bought it but won't work at all now here in Kansas. She has the adaptor for it. Is there something different about how the broadcast is sent out or was something mechanically just broken in the move?

  • Any known problems with a '97 Dodge Intrepid 3.5L?

I'm looking at buying a '97 Intrepid with the 3.5L to fix up. The seller says she thinks the head gasket is gone...it overheats on her. I'm not worried about doing the repair but are these engines known to crack heads or anything else serious?

  • Dodge Dakota V6 - what transmissions bolt up?

I'm thinking about trading for my uncles late '80s or early '90s V6 Dakota. He said the previous owner told him the tranny went out and he'd put in an older one but we don't know from what. Now that tranny is slipping. Will a V8 transmission (like from a 318) bolt up or is the bellhousing bolt pattern different?

  • How do I add a headphone jack to a TV?

I didn't get a chance to update details on my first post. I need to add a headphone jack to a small TV with NO external jacks. The only connector on it is the input coax.

TV Techman said to put in a dual ganged slide switch. I believe this is what I need so I can select having the sound go to either the TV speaker or the headphone jack. I went to Radio Shack today and the guy was nice and tried to be helpful...but also very clueless. I found some slide switches that had three terminals on the back...is that dual ganged? I'm not familiar with that term but I believe I understand how to wire the hot wire up to that.

The main question I have left is how to connect the female 1/8" jack to the speaker connections. They had a mono and a stereo version. The stereo female had 5 terminals on the back and the mono just had two. Do I use the mono and just wire the live and ground wires to it? If I need to use the stereo female how do I connect it?

    Thanks!
