  • Photoshop and Lightroom question?

Does Lightroom offer anything that Photoshop CS3, Bridge, and Camera RAW do not? Is there anything that Lightroom can do better than the rest? Or any features of Lightroom not included in the CS3 package? Or is it overkill to have both of them?

  • Best graphics card for around $100?

Any recommendations? I have a PC running Vista. It's a capable computer with a lousy graphics card.

  • Will Spore run on a computer using a nvidia geforce 6150se nforce 430 onboard graphics card?

I've got a HP w/ a athlon tri-core running 2.1 on each core and 4 gbs memory. I'm not looking to run the game on the highest settings, just want to be able to run it at a reasonable frame rate.

  • Can I buy Microsoft points for Xbox 360 online?

I've tried buying from Marketplace through the console itself, but for some mind-numbingly frustrating reason, it's not recognizing my card or my boyfriend's card. I don't want to buy one in the stores because I would have to buy way more points than I need for one game. Does anyone know how I could buy them online? (yes, my credit card works for everyone else except the overly-finicky Xbox Marketplace)

  • Photography contests?

I'm having a lot of fun with photography just as a hobby, but I'd like to get some exposure by entering my photos in some contests, preferably online. Does anyone know of good photo contest sites?

  • lg chocolate-headphones through the headset jack or charge port?

I'm trying to figure out if i'd be able to put a pair of regular 3.5 headphones w/ no mic through the headset port (the 2.5 port near the top of the side of the phone) w/ an 2.5 to 3.5 adapter of course or if i need to get a special adapter to run it through the charge port.

  • Upscaling / upconverting DVD players?

I'm pretty new to this HD thing. I got a 37" Sharp (710p) HDTV which I currently have hooked up to my Xbox 360 for watching DVD's. I thought, perhaps naively, that if I got a DVD player with upconversion/upscaling, I would see an improvement in picture quality of standard DVD's.

So I got an $80 Sony at Costco which I hooked up directly to the TV through the HDMI cable which came with the player and Yikes! The picture quality is even worse than when I watch movies through my Xbox at 420p. I tried changing the settings on the DVD player to 720p and 1080i, and both looked terrible.

Am I doing something wrong? Or do I have unrealistic expectations that an upconverting DVD player would be better quality than 420p on the Xbox?

  • Looking to upgrade from Canon Digital Rebel kit lens?

I'm looking for a general purpose lens. I don't need any extreme macro or zoom. I mostly photograph people, some landscapes, nature, etc. So far, I'm drawn to the Canon EF 28-135mm. What are your thoughts? Are there other lenses that would fit my needs more? I'm wanting to upgrade because I heard that I could get significantly better quality and clarity by using pretty much anything besides the kit lens. I'm on a budget, so as it is, the Canon EF-28-135 is at the top of my price range.

  • My dog needs a name?

I adopted a cocker spaniel from the pound. She had a stupid name (Dora) so we are changing it. Initially, we thought Jesus would be a cool name, but we adopted a girl dog so it doesn't really fit. Any ideas? She's white and cream colored. I'm avoiding any names like "cutiepie" or "precious" or "fluffy." I'd prefer a name that could be a human name as well (just like "jesus" was a human name). Thanks!

  • What do you think of the name "Jesus" for a dog?

I'm thinking of adopting a dog. I like the name Jesus. Not pronounced Hey-soos, but Ge-zus. I believe Christianity is bunk, but Jesus is a pretty snappy name. What do you think?

  • what are some nice, quiet beach towns in northern baja california?

I'm driving from santa barbara down to baja. I want to get about 2-3 hours into mexico before stopping for the night. I'm looking to avoid party towns or big cities. I just want a nice palapa to sit under and get crazy drunk, maybe do some skinny dipping. Any suggestions?
