  • How to keep loft with one window cool?

    Hello.

My bedroom is in a converted loft space and I'm looking for inexpensive ideas to help keep it cool. I have a small window in the ceiling and an open staircase with no door leading to the floor below. Where would be a good place to put a fan? Should I place it facing inwards at the window to suck cool air in? Or should I place it outwards to push hot air out? Or should I place it infront of the stairs to help drag air from downstairs upwards?

Should I invest in another fan? Any other ideas?

  • A stray ferret bit me. Should I do anything?

So I found a ferret on my garden; I think it's a baby that lost its mother. Anyway, I put it in a box but while doing so, it bit me hard. It wouldn't let go at all and I had to pry its mouth open. I rubbed some TCP on the bite mark and it didn't sting so I don't think it pierced the skin (or at least didn't pierce it very deep). My hand feels a bit funny but I haven't noticed anything too odd yet. Should I do anything else? Should I consider A&E or should I only bother if I start to feel worse?

  • Who owns these solar panels?

I'm asking this question on behalf of my mother. A few years ago, she granted a lease to a solar panel provider to install solar panels on her house roof. In return, she got cheaper energy. The solar panels and the airspace on the roof were owned by the solar panel company.

Recently, my mother tried to get a new mortgage but was denied it as she didn't own the airspace on the roof. She then later found that the solar panel company she had dealt with had gone bankrupt. Now who owns the airspace and solar panels?

The mortgage providers want written evidence to show that my mother owns the airspace but she can't get in contact with the solar panel company as the company no longer exists. What can she do?

  • Have I done something wrong?

So I gave someone a birthday card and wished them happy birthday in person. Now they've told me they're upset because I didn't wish them happy birthday over Facebook and I feel bad for upsetting them but here's the thing - should I feel bad?

Perhaps I'm old fashioned but I'd rather have someone see me in person, or even ring me, rather than post some generic 'happy birthday' message over social media, but of course not everyone feels the same. I mean, is social media really that important nowadays? I feel slightly angry that they'd even bring this up to me. Is it selfish to ask for birthday wishes? Or have I just been narrow minded?

I'm not gonna tell you what relationship I have with the birthday person but I'll give you a small hint: we're related. Does that change anything?

    Gimme some opinions.
