11 AnswersChristmas1 decade agoSo if there is a shortage of afforable social housing in the UK, what can we do to stop Landlordism?
I believe there is a housing shortage in the UK, but plenty of people with money buy several houses to rent them out and make money for themselves.
People are then forced to pay rent to landlords, rather than the gov or a housing association. Why should the ordinary person pay into someone else's retirement fund rather than their own?
What can we do to stop or alter this, some sort of tax? a cap on the amount of properties one can own. any ideas?

5 AnswersTrivia1 decade agoWhat's with the silly names for newborns of late?
OK I admit to being a bit traditional and even old fashioned, but some of the names being given to kids here beggars belief (I know it's personal- parents choice!).
I'm guessing it's being led by celebrities who don't live in the real world! There's going to be a whole generation of kids on Britain's council estates with yankee names! (not a problem if you are American but in the UK? . . . Come on!) or exotic double barreled christian names, Do you think this will help or hinder their employment prospects?
What's the thinking behind it? A greater chance of your kid becoming famous? A vain attempt to sound glamourous or Middle Class? (the real middle classes actually favor traditional british names)
I would give examples of the types of name i'm talking about but don't want to offend anyone! I know it's been a bit of a rant but I'd be glad to find out what your thoughts are!

3 AnswersOther - Social Science1 decade agoRoyal Bank of Scotland RBS Bailout?
The RBS bank has been loaned 20 billion pounds by the UK gov.
The bank is now 70% nationalised (owned by the UK taxpayer).
As it stands at the moment, 1 billion (approx one pound in twenty) will be paid out in bonuses to the managers and people at the top of the organisation.
Is this wrong? Is this a waste of our money? What can be done if anything to reverse this (if it is a) waste of taxpayer money?
