  • Prepaid credit cards for non-US, non-UK resident?

Hey, I need some advice re. how to get a prepaid credit card. I'm a Canadian consumer (and we Canadians get screwed over choice wise) trying to get one of these handy cards, which I believe are a much better alternative to conventional credit cards (I'm not trying to build/rebuild credit ratings).

However, the facts are simple: These cards are primarily offered to US and UK residents for whatever reason. Hey banks! What about the rest of us?

  • Prepaid credit cards available to non-US/UK residents?

I've been doing some searching online and here to find some good leads as to where I can find a reasonably good prepaid credit card with terms I've willing to accept. However (and its a big however) is most, if not all, of the advertised prepaid cards are geared for US and UK residents. I can't even apply for them without meeting the nationality requirements. I'm a non-American living in Shanghai, China (It's an unfortunate truth these relatively new hybrid cards aren't known about in China by the banks.) at this time so flexibility in this area is paramount during the application process. Please someone guide me to prepaid credit card nirvana.

  • Grammar 101 Question: who vs. whom?

For this question sentence, which is correct? 'Here comes who?' or 'Here comes whom?' (Wouldn't I choose 'whom' as the object of the verb, 'comes'?)

Other than his age the man has it all in the looks dept. Guys, wouldn't you like to merge his 'good looks' genes to your own and at least look partly like him?

  • Do you think a large North Atlantic lobster could break a cola bottle?

Yes, this question goes in the miscellaneous category for sure, but I recall a long time ago when a friend told me his father, who worked in a fish plant, had said he and some coworkers placed bets whether a large nearby lobster could break the Coke bottle they had in its crusher claw. Apparently the lobster pulled off this impressive feat but I've never seen it. I wish I could hear back from some lobster fisherman on this.

  • Mentally ill people and their delusions...?

Has anyone else noticed that mentally ill people often assume the role of lawyer? I once met one when I was a kid who thought they were the real thing. Actually, that person was a trailer-trash type on welfare. Recently, I had the misfortune of working with another person who also claimed to be lawyer, a federal lawyer no less, which I highly doubt. So, what's up with this? Is it a role that mentally ill people often assume? And why?

  • Is there a way to create NTFS partitions on hdd via boot disk (not the Windows CD)?

I'd like more control with regards to setting up a hdd with NTFS partitions. I preferred the convenience of the old Win9x floppy boot disks, which unfortunately only see FAT partitions through DOS. Any workarounds online that will let the user make NTFS partitions without the Windows install disk?

  • For those who have been in China: Have you noticed the smell of cat urine seemingly everywhere?

Yep, just about everywhere I go, there seems to be that rank smell of kitty pee. On the buses, in the stores, internet cafes... - everywhere! I have to say, China smells a lot worse than the three other Asian countries I've been (Taiwan, Thailand, Korea). Actually, I didn't notice many bad smells in those countries (Unless, say, someone let one rip next to me!).

  • 426 Hemi ~ Did it really put out something like 800 horsepower stock?

I know this question seems moot to ask, but I recall watching a program on the 'Speed' channel last summer where they put a bunch of legendary big blocks on dynos to measure their gross horsepower. A lot of the numbers were crazy high. The Ford 427 put out over 600hp and the Hemi, get this, put out 800hp stock! Firstly, were these engines put in the cars that an average joe could purchase at their Dodge dealership? And if so, were these engines sold in limited numbers?

  • Where are the discount brokers for Canadian investors?

It seems that Canadians get dumped on when it comes to choice regarding discount stock brokers. TDWaterhouse (formerly Ameritrade, which was quite good) and etrade.ca are really lacking. Beyond these guys I honestly don't know of any others LOL. Does anyone out there deal with other discount brokers with good feedback?

  • Mystery Religion: Is there a religion that goes by the name, Go Ye?

My father's parents had been followers for many years. My grandmother still is but it seems to be an underground following. I never learned or heard anything about it, i.e., the principles behind it, name, etc., other than it's based on the Old Testament.

The followers are very conservative. They cannot own many modern things, such as TVs, DVD players, and PCs. The woman are expected to wear only dresses and to wear their hair up. They act as compliments to their husbands doing all the housework and womanly things as it was 40 years ago. The men are to never remove their shirts in public even to go swimming. However, they differ from the Omish and Mennonites in that they make use of modern appliances such as washing machines, automobiles, and certain electrical gadgets, in my observation, so long as the device doesn't allow mainstream pop culture into their lives.

Only recently has my father's brother told me to look up Go Ye after falling out with this family.

Yep, the now infamous Pets.com and Boo.com. What made them stand out among the pack of dotbombs? I hadn't heard of either of them until I read a PC mag article that referred to the company names. Who said cave dwelling was easy....
