  • Question on HSA and filing status?

I have a Health Savings Account through work that I added my wife too. Does this mean I have to file jointly with her, or will we still be able to file separately if the figures come out better that way?

  • Why are the Dems forcing this before Christmas?

    From this article...http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091222/ap_on_bi_ge/us...

The Senate has been voting at odd hours since Monday around 1 a.m. because Republicans have insisted on using all the time allowed under Senate rules to delay the bill. Not to be thwarted, Reid, D-Nev., has refused to postpone action until after the holidays. Hence the unusual schedule. On Tuesday, they started voting at sunrise.

With long hours getting in the way of family obligations — and the outcome now seemingly preordained — senators are getting frustrated. Even Obama has put his planned vacation to Hawaii on hold, saying he wants to be in Washington in case there are last-minute problems in the Senate.

Reid appealed to his colleagues Tuesday to set aside acrimony and reach for some holiday spirit.

"I would hope everybody will keep in mind that this is a time when we reflect on peace and good things," he said.

....So Why are the Dems (Reid?) hell-bent on forcing this through on Christmas Eve? This can be postponed until after Christmas instead of Reid forcing everyone to stay while he states his bold face LIE that Republicans are to blame for Congress having to stay until Christmas Eve. Why can't it wait until after Christmas?? (And why is everyone, including Fox, saying it's the Republicans fault that everyone has to stay there until Christmas Eve?)

Aren't you guys on the left a bit upset about this too? Cause if you'll be patient, you'll get what you want! It can wait a week or 2!

Anyone else want to throw up because of this grandstanding?

  • Remember when Obama got the insurance companies to support what he was planning?

Any idea why he put a knife in their backs by saying they are a big part of the problem (like he did in the speech the other night...or by saying a public option is needed to keep insurance companies 'honest') when he originally wanted, and got their support? And if they still support his ideas after this...why?

  • Don't we already have a government-run option for health care?

I thought it was called Medicare and Medicaid. So what exactly would be different about this public option the left is pushing for?

  • Who is the party of corruption?

Just thought I would ask this question to get everyone all fired up.

But seriously...didn't the Dems ream the Reps a few years back about being the 'party of corruption?' They can't play that card anymore unless they want to be obvious hypocrites. Not that they're all corrupt...

  • What would you think of this proposal?

Here's something I've been thinking to myself ever since it became apparent that Hillary was running for president a few years back...

Things have changed since the Constitution was written. They never foresaw women having all the rights they now have...women didn't even have a role in government. Of course, that has completely changed since the 18th century. However...the way the Constitution was written, they made a way to make changes to it. Which is why blacks are free, and women can now vote.

    Fast forward to present times...

When Bill Clinton took office, I strongly believe that Hillary was at work with him. And with that line of thought, I didn't think she should be allowed to be president again, since she already had 8 years co-piloting Bill's 2 terms (or if you want to think this way, like a lady I know, SHE was the one running the country while Bill was doing his 'hanky-panky'). So here is the proposal...

No spouse of a president can themselves run for president if their spouse has served the max allowed by the Constitution.

What are your thoughts on a proposal like this?

  • What do you think of this article/opinion piece on Obama and Palin?

    http://www.salon.com/opinion/paglia/2008/11/12/pal...

    Note that it's 2 pages.

Let me know what you think about it, and what side of the aisle you come from.

  • You hear about Palin's new ethics charge?

She took her kids with her on government business....how horrible!

    http://www.citizensforethics.org/node/35238

Close to the bottom of the article, here are 2 paragraphs...

Sharon Leighow, Deputy Communications Director, said “Governor Palin followed state policy allowing governors to charge for their children’s travel and there’s also the expectation that the first family participate in community activities across the state.”

This new ethics complaint comes on the heels of the Federal Elections Campaign complaint filed by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington for spending $150,000 on pricey designer threads.

So, it would seem the media is STILL running a smear campaign on her. Don't they realize the election is over and their candidate won?? They can stop all this non-sense now. Why are they reporting about two lawsuits that have no basis? They even admitted that much with what I copied! Remember them for future knowledge...Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington. They can not be trusted. If you disagree, tell me why.

  • How long until the media turns on Obama?

Some radio talk show hosts speculate that the mainstream media has become their own political party. And though I can't find it online (I'm not the best at searches), I know I heard that 51% of exit polls had people say they thought the media was actively rooting for Obama (that would include some that voted Obama). So here's the question...how long until the media gets ticked off that Obama isn't doing what they want, and start to turn on him?

  • Are conservative Dems the only hope we have of the far left going overboard?

It seems to me that, with the Dem 'stimulis package' they want to pass, it's already starting to look like the Dems are going to overreach. At the same time, Harry Reid is considering taking away Lieberman's (independent in name only) chairmanship. So what is going to happen...are the conservative Dems going to rise up, or are they going to fear being punished for voting their conscience?

  • Was Rush Limbaugh wrong on this one?

I believe it was about 2 months ago, he said this election was going to be a referendum on Obama, not Bush. So what do you think...was this a referendum on Bush, or Obama, or neither in your opinion?

  • Can you trust polling that is weighted towards Dems?

"For polling data released during the week of October 26 to November 1, 2008, the partisan weighting targets used by Rasmussen Reports will be 40.0% Democratic, 32.8% Republican, and 27.2% unaffiliated."

    http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/pol...

Interesting, the number of Dems polled is 7% more than the number of Reps polled. What does this tell you, especially with some polls showing the race tightening or holding around the 3-6 percent range?

  • What do you think of Obama's 'testy moment' with the media?

    http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D945ORIO1&...

I think if he's taking a walk with his daughter on Halloween (maybe trick or treating, who knows), get your one action shot and move on. After you get your photo, leave them alone, especially after he tells you to. You guys agree?

  • Do conservatives have a chance to prove themselves if Obama wins the election?

Today I was reminded that there are conservative democrats...Bluedogs I think was the term I heard. So here's the question...if the Dems have supermajorities, will the Bluedogs stand for what they believe in, or toe the party line?

  • Why does Obama's campaign keep changing their numbers?

Before, they were saying they were going to raise the capital gains rate to 30%. After the Miami Dolphins owner went public in saying he was wanting to sell his stake in the team by the inaugeration if Obama was elected, Obama's people have now said that the guy is wrong saying Capital Gains wouldn't be doubled, that it would only be 20%. There's one change.

Another change has been the dollar figure where those being taxed more were only those making $300,000 originally. Then $250,000 was said at the debates. In the past week, the figures have gone down to $200,000 and now $150,000 either yesterday or today. (In fairness, they said the $200,000 figure was for one person making that much, and that $250,000 was for joint filings) So as I asked...why does the number keep changing? Can we trust Obama to do what he has promised when he keeps changing things?

    1 AnswerPolitics1 decade ago
  • Have you heard the Miami Dolphins owner wants to sell the team by the inaugeration?

Wayne Hizenga (I butchered his name, I know) is on record saying that he doesn't want to pay the higher taxes Obama would put in place...he would rather give the money to charity than to Obama. What's this tell you?

  • What do you think of Obama's upcoming tv spot?

I'm listening to McCain's speech, and he just said that he would never interrupt the World Series with an infomercial. So, what do you think about this upcoming event?

  • Who realizes that Bush's tax cuts are expiring soon?

All this talk about McCain is going to lower taxes for everyone, and Obama is going to lower taxes for 95% of Americans, we're leaving out a good question. Will this be before, or after Bush's tax cuts expire?

And in Obama's case, will more people actually be taxed because Bush's tax cuts expire? Because remember...some people that might have made enough to pay taxes under Clinton were moved into the bracket that didn't pay taxes under Bush.
