I live in the forest by a river, with my DH of 30 years, 1 wolfdog, two dogs, four cats and two Vietnamese runner ducks. I love nature, read a lot, have two grown sons and six grandkids. I have worked in the medical field and take great interest in gardening, crafts, motorcycles, pets of all kinds, and I'm very curious! Peace be with all of you!

  • Are there any of those homeworking schemes that aren't totally bogus?

We live waaaaay out from cities, and we really need some more income. Any suggestions

or feedback about home-working? I'm middle-aged, somewhat computer literate, and

    will work any hours.

    Thank you!!!!

  • Adult kids back home--any support groups known? On line would be prefferable, and having some ideas...?

as to how to cope, especially when there's no option for them to move,

    in this economy!

Ours wants to give us "advice" about what to do with our home, how

to do things around here, our friends and other relatives, etc. I HATE

conflict, and believe peace in the home is very much what must be.

But I am about up to my chin sometimes with this kid. He is 31.

I looked at a time when "Mother" was going to be a noun, not

    a verb. Help!

  • Did you know there is a pet food recall?

Mars pet foods are being recalled, including Pedigree, Natural

Dog and Cat food, and Special Kitty. Look on the Net for

more information; they will tell you if your food may have

    salmonella contamination.

  • Have you ever been really dissapointed by an author?

I have read an author for years, and really enjoyed their

books and ideas. But then, I picked up one of the newer

books of theirs, and it just wasn't the same.

Did I outgrow them, or did they lose something over time?

With a few, they have written a lot, maybe they ran

out of things to say? Some feel like they are writing

because they can't stop and they sell, but it feels like

they don't care much anymore, the humour and zing

    of characterization is gone.

Stephen King and Sue Grafton are a couple that I

just can't read anymore. They feel flat, as though they

aren't there; the books are either boring or gross

    to me.

So, is it me who changed, or them?

  • If you could "rewind" your life, and go back knowing what you do now,?

what age would you press "play" again at?

Would you be a child with an adult's understanding,

or would you be a young adult, and know what you

    need to do differently?

I think I'd be a young adult; I seem to have been

rushing about, raising children and making a living,

and missed so much of history. I look back now,

and say, wow, that sure got past me!

    How about you?

  • Why does it seem like alot of folks here are trying to get help with their homework?

Not picking on you; just seems like if you're assigned a

lesson, you should look it up on the internet yourself,

instead of asking others to explain it to you.

Hey, at least you guys HAVE internet!!! Us oldtimers

had to do with dictionaries and other dusty, heavy

books, and it took us all night.

So, guys, get with it, huh? Look it up!

    Peace

  • Why do Christians wear crosses and crucifixes?

The cross is what they believe killed Jesus, who they love,

but they wear it, sometimes with him bloody & still on it.

If something killed someone I loved, I'd want nothing to do

    with it.

And, if he were killed with another thing, like an axe, would

they wear a little axe? Or a knife if he were stabbed?

This seems kinda morbid to me.

If someone I loved was killed by a car, I wouldn't wear

a little car around my neck.

Just curious; I am not Christian. Though I believe

everyone should be free to express their religion as

they choose, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone.

    Peace be with you.

  • My older cat is getting really weird with his "kneading"?

Our cat Skinny is 12 now. He's started this thing lately,

when he's sleeping with DH and me mostly: He starts out

"kneading" with his front paws, like usual, but now he

starts really ripping with his back paws and claws too!

Ouch! It gets so bad, he has to be put out of the bed at times.

So, I've never had a cat do this-- is this normal? Is he

getting his second kittenhood, or senile or something?

He's really bright, active, normal, and doesn't act older

or anything. Still runs around with our other cats, eats,

sleeps, loves us up, and so on. We love him so much.

So this kinda worries me, as I'm afraid it may

mean something is wrong with him?

Please give me some ideas about my old Skinners.

    Thanks

  • There is no "Answer this question box" appearing on my computer when I go to a question.?

I have received no warnings from Yahoo or emails saying I

    did something to be excluded.

I have the "save" and "email" icons, just no "Answer" button,

    so I can't answer anything.

I'd really like to know why. It's only happened since the format changed.

Anyone out there have any ideas? Did I p-off Homeland

    Security or something???

    Computer otherwise works well.

Ah, well, take care, Y'all, and I hope it doesn't happen to

    others.

  • Do anyone's cats trill, chirrup or squeak instead of meowing?

We have two cats who do this. One is Bengal, the other is

Siamese/Manx cross (little black cat). They are healthy,

affectionate, outstanding fur people, just, they do not meow!

They make an assortment of other sounds, talking with us

and each other. Do any of yours do this, or do we have a

    couple of strange cats?
