  • So, I made an offer on a bank owned foreclosure...?

And, I offered 204,900, and I asked for 7500 in closing costs, which is a little more than the standard 3%. Now, another offer has been made (which I'm told is less) and there's apparently another coming in (at least). Expecting either a counter or a better offer than mine, I decided to change my offer to 210,900, which is $1000 over list price. Be real with me, I need some sound advice. What are my chances? Is it even possible with this scenario to calm the stomach bile? This really is our dream house. Thanks in advance, come get the 2 points.

  • Guitar question for any luthiers or otherwise knowledgable people...?

I have recently acquired a guitar (LP studio), and the body is ash. I want to strip it, lightly stain it and burn it (using a propane torch) to achieve a cool stain and overall kickassness. What do I need to be concerned with, and after I've completed, should I just take it to someone to apply clearcoat/lacquer to make my job easier?

Thanks in advance for your answer!

  • I have just read an answer that contained the following sentences...?

"Your spirit knows all. You don't need some ancient or new book to tell you how to be, or think, or live."

SO. That clears it up. I wonder then, why toddlers can't live by their "spirits". Why, when little Bobby gets his little tonka truck taken by Joey does he run to Joey, rip it out of his arms and smash him in the head with it? Hasn't his "spirit" yet taught him to share?

Is it then that the only logical conclusion is that all of the various psychopaths (ie. Charles Manson, Hitler, Oprah and so on...) are mereley victims of a bad "spirit"?

Why do some "spirits" work different than others?

PS: To call me an a**hole would be an understatement. You can do better. Try... um, I dunno... maybe "Truck Stop Hooker" or something colorful like that.

  • Ok, one more quote--I promise, last one...?

    Whaddya think of this?

“The present is never our goal: the past and present are our means: the future alone is our goal. Thus, we never live but we hope to live; and always hoping to be happy, it is inevitable that we will never be so.”

  • Do you think the origin of disputes between philosophers...?

Do you agree with this? Why or why not?

“The origins of disputes between philosophers is, that one class of them have undertaken to raise man by displaying his greatness, and the other to debase him by showing his miseries.”

  • Atheists, next time you have a question that forces you to drink...?

May I suggest the "Sweaty Mexican"?

    Easy--here we go:

1 shot Tequila (I prefer Sauza Hornitos, for the $)

    1 Tablespoon of Hellman's mayonnaise

Then, all you have to do is toss it in a shaker, but don't use ice. That takes the "sweaty" out.

  • Christians, would you agree or disagree with this?

"The grace of God through Jesus Christ our Lord must be understood as follows:grace is the only thing that delivers human beings from evil; without it, they do absolutely nothing good, whether in thought, or in will and emotion, or in action. Grace not only makes known to people what they ought to do, but also enables them to perform with love the duty that they know."

  • Would you call a runner "a runner" if he were delusional...?

and was actually just running in his mind?

    I don't think I would...

By the same logic, how can I call anyone but my fellow Christians,"believers"?

  • A question for all... Does reason stand by itself in your mind?

I just want everybody's take on this subject. Is reasoning from the physical the only basis in your deductions of life, or are there other sources?

If so, or if not, why do you feel that you are this way, yet others are obviously different? The following is a quote I read that spurred these thoughts.

“Two extremes: to exclude reason, to admit reason only.”

  • Ten Commandments Part #whatever?

This will apply to those who think there is only one divine purpose of the Law.

How many people think the purpose of the Ten Commandments is for God to set the bar and for people to uphold His requirements?

If not for this purpose, then what?

  • Christians: Do you think when you witness to atheists...?

that the encounter is controlled by you or God? I'm asking this because I seem to get oh-so-many athiests e-mailing me, telling me "Thanks for continuing to disprove Christianity," "You people make it so easy to not believe in God."(That was my favorite) Someone must have told them that I care? The Gospel is totally offensive; its central message is deny yourself(realize your sin) and rely on Christ. We are called to preach the Gospel, not save people. People can't save people, only God has this ability.

To the point--do you think your witnessing is dependent on you or God's divine will? ie. Do you think, since God has used less than noble means to get His point across in the past, that He can use ANYONE with basic Biblical knowledge?

This passage(I'll select some verses) prompted these thoughts: 1Cor.1

  • Christians, please! Tell me where this is coming from?

Because I don't think it's the Bible!!! A Christian just posted this, "God helps those who helps themselves. God doesnt want people to totally rely on him, thats why He gave us free will "

Where does it say this in the Bible? Because to me, the Gospel says the exact opposite:

God helps those who CANNOT help themselves.

God wants TOTAL RELIANCE ON HIM in all things.

Show me the words "free will" in the Bible.

I'm sorry if it seems like a rant, but it's time we separate what God said from what we think God would say. Anybody with me?

  • Hey--what do you think of this quote?

"Can you prove that the incorporeal dragon living in my garage doesn't exist? Can you prove that leprechauns don't exist?" --Copied from the awesome intellectual property of Neo Frehley.

You cannot prove non-existence. In order to do so, you would have to know EVERYTHING that exists. Dr. Ravi Zacharias said it best, in my opinion:

"“Being an atheist is really interesting because to be a classic atheist you must know for certain that no god exists anywhere either in our outside the known universe and to do that you must know everything about everywhere both inside and outside the known universe...and well...that would make you God.”

    Dr. Ravi Zacharias

So, as my homie just pointed out, that makes all of you agnostic at best. Is this correct in your mind? Why or why not?
