I've decided to try to figure out how irrational people think, so this seemed like a good place to start. Why should anyone believe in astrology? Doesn't it seem a little far fetched and silly to you? How do you feel that there is no scientific evidence for astrology?

Is the gender studies board itself evidence that feminism is still needed in western society? I see such extremely misogynistic and patriarchal attitudes being expressed, does this not show that feminism is still needed to combat patriarchy?

That the Gender Studies section is overrun by tools of patriarchy and virulent misogyny? I came here expecting to have a civilized discourse about feminism and all I found was a bunch of nonsense.

What is your preferred school of thought, Analytic philosophy or Continental philosophy? Any specific figures or movements that stand out to you?

This is sort of a meta question, but why is it that so many of the questions asked in this philosophy section are not philosophical at all, or they are pseudo-philosophy wrapped in a cloak of legitimacy. Example: Things about the world ending on Dec. 1, 2012, things about mysticism, things about "the meaning of life", etc. Wheres the analytic rigor people?

indoctrinate our children with Secular Humanist teachings from pre-kindergarten all the way through college?

Moral Relativism is a popular idea floating around the world today, and the way I understand it, Moral relativism is the idea that moral values are based on what society or an individual deems is right, this may seem to some a liberating concept, self choice and all that, but according to this theory, if society had been accepting of genocide, would Hitler, Stalin, Mao and there like have been innocent? Would there decision to have millions killed been "right" if society had thought it to be. Just looking for some thought on the subject.

With the troops occupied in Iraq and with the fact that 15% of Americans and rising are below the poverty line, and 10% of Americans hold 90% of the wealth, is the time ripe for a Marxist revolt.

Perhaps more troops are being amassed in Iraq for an invasion of Iran.

My DVD-Rom drive is not reading the disks, what do you think the problem is and are there any solutions.
