I am graduating this december with a bachelors degree in social work from the University of Florida with a 3.4 GPA.

i didnt think i was cut out to be an officer, so i went to an enlisted recruiter and went to MEPS and picked a job. however, i feel like i am selling myself short and want to at least try to be an officer. i know that right now i am not obligated to join at this point since i havent officially sworn into the navy.

however, my question is: is it too late??? can i go to an officer recruiter and still put in a package at this point in time even after already going to MEPS and picking a job??

I graduate from the University of Florida this December with a bachelors in social work. I want to enlist in the Navy as a sonar tech, but I am unsure if I should do the 4 or 6 year contract. I could see myself becoming an officer if I enjoy my time enlisted, which is a big reason I am wary about the 6 year contract.

Does anyone have any advice if I should choose the 4 or 6 year contract? Any other details about being a sonar tech? Anything would be greatly appreciated!!

i'm a junior in college and i go to the University of Florida. i have roughly 1.5 semesters left before I graduate and i feel like i haven't done anything BIG throughout college.

the only things i've done is:

1.) have a year long internship (which is the most professional thing i've done)

2.) joined a sorority

3.) work at publix during the summer and during college

i am not in any clubs, i have a 3.35 GPA (kinda mediocre as a marketing major, to me), i dont have any leadership positions, and i'm not SUPER involved in my sorority. i'm surrounded by such motivated, smart, and involved women that it makes me feel like i'm not DOING enough.

but, i'm also not a "leadership"-type person. i hate being the center of attention, but i like to be a part of a team. i like to cultivate ideas and talk to people to get things moving along. i guess i could say im a facilitator.

i talked to my dad about the above information and he says what im doing is awesome and not that many people can even get into UF (which is true).

i do have some things in mind before i graduate though, such as doing community service trips (fun and a good resume filler) and possibly apply for the MAIB (master of arts in international business).

am i just a worrywart? am i not that "impressive" on paper?

i want to buy the device that connects your iphone to your car stereo to play music that is on your phone (such as pandora). i need it for my long drive back to college.

p.s. i just got an iphone and i am iphone-illiterate :(

ok, so i'm a 19 year old college student working at publix (a chain grocery store). this regular customer comes in a lot and he finally asked to go on a date with me. he is really cute, tall, nice, funny, and in the military. however, he has been in the military for 10 years... meaning he is 28 years old. BUT he doesnt even look 28!! my guess was that we was at most 25.

to me, the age difference is a little wierd. he knew i was 19 before he asked me out and i knew he was 28 also.

i gave him a chance and we went to see spiderman last night at the movies. he didnt initiate anything and was really repectful the entire night. however, the age difference is still a little too much for me to handle at this point in my life. i dont want to start something with someone on an entirely different life path.

we've been texting and i kind of want to break the news that i'm not interested via text. but, i think it will make it super awkward when i see him shopping at publix....... how do i let him know i dont want to date him??? via text or in person? i'm also a little shy/timid/awkward and i HATE letting people down/rejecting them

i am currently a freshman who is majoring in marketing at the University of Florida, but i feel like i dont like it here. i am considering transfering to the University of West Florida this upcoming fall because it is closer to home.

here are my pro's and cons for each school:

UF Pro's-

Good/prestigious school

“Learn” life

The opportunity

could potentially be an RA and thus get free dorming

might join a sorority

Cons:

Super expensive

Racking up student loans (at $9000 in 1 year)

Not having a job

No car

Miss my family & home

i dont care for it so far

UWF

Pros:

Have car

Get a job

Potential scholarship ($1000-2000)

Save money - no dorm, no meal plan, have bright futures to pay for classes/tuition, potential scholarship, grants

Get apartment (NOT live at home)

Cheaper than UF

Closer to home

Cons:

Going back home

Looking like a loser

Not as prestigious as UF

so yeah, there's my list. if i went to UWF i would NOT be in debt and i think i would like it more. but im still unsure. im going to stay this next semester at UF and see if my feelings change..

but i also feel like a degree is a degree, regardless of where you get it. i plan on doing many internships at either place to make myself "stand out" in the business world.

what are your thoughts/feelings/advice for me?

i'm looking for a laptop brand that is relatively affordable, has 4 GB or more, and more than 320 GB hardrive. a mac would be IDEAL, but it costs way too much.

i've been comparing the dell inspiron and hp laptops, and both seem relatively good.

any suggestions?

i'm currently a freshman majoring in advertising in college, but after looking at some internships for "marketing majors only" i think marketing might be a better future career field to venture into because it seems more involved in the "design, plan, and collaborate" aspects that i like.

both marketing and advertising are fairly similar from the research i have done, but i'm still unsure if i should switch majors and thus not using some of the classes i am currently taking.

any thoughts/advice about my situation? does marketing have more appeal/prestige than an advertising major?

im a senior in highschool and roughly two years ago i weighed around 114 lbs. im the same height at 5'2'', but now i weigh around 120. is this typical?

i know women gain more curves as they mature, but i feel like i could have gained unneccesary weight. should i be concerned?

i know chitin is the exoskeleton of things like bugs and horseshoe crabs.

but does this mean it is truly a bony skeleton like that of a human?

for example, if you drank a lot of water, would the weight of the water you consumed make you heavier?

cuz i feel really fat and bloated but ive eaten really healthy today. i had about 2 cups of black coffee and i look and feel really bloated.

today i made this AWESOME cake- devils food with a peanut butter-fudge icing. it was kind of like a reese's peanut butter cup.

but anywho, when it comes to sweets, i cant resist myself- especially chocolate.

so i had a piece or two and felt a little bad. i ate healthy the rest of the day.

i never never never eat fast food. so i figure this is my "bad" food.

do you have your own yummy delicious food that you cant resist? or am i the only one =P

i want to make a peanut butter frosting, here's the recipe:

1 cup confectioners' sugar

1 cup creamy peanut butter

5 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature

3/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

1/3 cup milk

i dont want to use butter, so i was wondering if i could simply just whip the peanut butter to get it light and fluffy, and maybe add the powedered sugar, i dont know yet.

i want to use it for a chocolate cake :)

ive been trying to get toned recently. but it was my birthday weekend and i went crazy with the cake. im 5'2 and average 113 lbs. but i stepped on the scale and gained 5 lbs. within about 3 days.

should i worry?

tonight i just binged on some brownies and icecream.... waayyyy too much. i had like 5 brownies and a lot of icecream. now i feel like crap and a fatty lol. i'm working out big time tomorrow!

okay so i used store bought fudge brownie mix, and instead of using oil i used yogurt to save calories and fat.

then end result was cakey, and not fudgy like i was hoping for my brownies to be. by adding the yogurt and not the oil make them turn out cakey?

and i would like a good explanation pleaseeeeee, not just yes/no
