Hockey memorabilia appraisal?
I wanted to get an appraisal on a Mario Lemieux autographed pens logo (the old logo like the new one) and an unprinted on stanley cup finals ticket also autographed. These are framed in the same frame and have the authenticity sticker on the back numbers 06897. This is a real autograph not a print. I saw these around forever ago, but this is the only Lemieux one I ever saw and got it for 200 dollars around 10-12 years ago. I do not plan on selling it, but I would like to get an idea of what it's worth. Thanks.
2 AnswersHockey1 decade agoSpinning rings ride at fairs/amusement parks?
There used to be a ride around where a single person would be strapped into the middle of 3 rings. The ride would be started and the rings would spin turning the person in different directions, upside down, sideways etc. Does anyone know the name of this contraption, not the festival/fair name?
1 AnswerAmusement Parks1 decade agoLinear Algebra Problem: Projections?
I don't really understand what this is saying, and how to prove it.
A linear mapping T: V -> V is called a projection if every element in w in the image is fixed by T. (That is, T(w) = w).
a) Let T be a projection. Prove that every v in V can be written as v = w+n with w in W and n in the nullspace of T.
b) Prove also that this expression is unique. That is, if v = w + n and v = w' + n' with w, w' in the image and n, n' in the nullspace, then w = w' and n = n'.
My professor pretty much through up the idea of the whole T: V -> V thing and I don't understand it at all especially where the w's come into play, and a little explanation of what exactly is going on would be appreciated.
Thanks
2 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoWhat is a good site to learn how to solve PDE's?
All my teacher does in class is derive them, and the book skips almost all the steps to a solution so I never get a straight forward method of doing things in this class.
So if anyone can provide me a link to a good website that explains how to do these.
Thanks.
3 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoCould you check this answer for me please (SSR)?
I have a book that doesn't have solutions for me to check. I know this question is fairly easy so I just want to double check.
State the number of degrees of freedom that are associated with each of the following extra sums of squares
SSR(X1|X2) = 1
SSR(X2|X1,X3) = 1
SSR(X1, X2|X3, X4) = 2
SSR(X1, X2, X3|X4, X5) = 3
1 AnswerHomework Help1 decade agoLaw School for Actuaries?
I will be graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics with an Actuarial Science option and I plan on attending law school. My professor for my Life Contingencies class told me that is best if I look into a school that has an Insurance and Pension Law certification, or one that offers a joint with a Masters of Actuarial Science. I've been searching online for hours and I am having trouble locating any school that has these programs. If anyone knows of any schools that do please let me know.
Thanks

I was checking stocks today, because I have been keeping a close eye on Washington Mutual for various reasons and I stumbled upon a second Washington Mutual stock labeled WMUTP, that was created this month. However, I can't find any information in relation to what it actually is.

Given that you have an object that is contained in a finite space is possible to put that object into a hollow object that contains infinite points of space?
6 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoConsidering law school?
I am currently an undergraduate at Pennsylvania State University pursuing a BS in Mathematics with an Actuarial Science option. I have been looking at different angles of graduate school and I have noticed for the most part with no experience as an Actuarial Analyst your only option is pretty much to get into a Masters of Applied Statistics program. I was looking into the LSATs, and started working on them and I have not done too bad on the practice exams. I wanted to know if anyone could let me know what programs in Law School I could get into with my background considering that I am not a Pre-Law student. From what I can tell with a degree in Mathematics and passing the LSATs I should be able to get into a law school, because I will have proven myself to have very strong logic. However, I am uncertain if I really can or if I have to go into a specific portion of law.
Thank you.
4 AnswersHigher Education (University +)1 decade agois there a civil suit in this situation?
i have a case coming up at the end of november for a robbery that took place 2 years ago.
i was working as a clerk in a gas station while attending college and towards the end of november i was robbed 2 times within 3 nights by the same person. there was no physical harm done, i did have a slight panic attack the second time however. none of my money was taken and i voluntarily left my job and was not going to be fired. i did have nightmares for a month or two after the situation.
this is being brought up now because there was a spree of robberies by these two guys in west virginia and pennsylvania and i suppose they are getting off on parole in wv so they are attempting to try them in pittsburgh at the end of the month.
i was curious if for any reason i could file a civil suit against any specific party.
thanks
5 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoproblems with 2001 toyota camry v4?
I have been having some trouble with my camry. I have never had to fill any coolant at all, and there is no leaks. I checked it last month before the problem occured and the radiator and overflow were full. I checked yesterday and the overflow was virtually empty. When I start the car instead of idling at 500 rpms, it revs and then idles at roughly 1200 rpms. The accelerator pedal is extremely touchy, but at the same time it will occassionally stick to the degree where I cannot push it. I tried checking the throttle body and it was clean as expected. I have 94k miles and I had a brand new, not salvaged engine, put in at 65k miles. I tried pulling the accelerator pedal in case it was sticking inwards and its out all the way. I use mid grade gas as per request of the delearship, and take care of all the regular maintenence on schedule.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
4 AnswersToyota1 decade agoomaha hi/lo pl and fixed strategies to prevent being quartered.?
I have been picking up on omaha rather fast, and one thing I have not been able to figure out is preventing quartering or a better understanding of how its better to be quartered then to fold.
Take the given scenario for example:
my hand: AA23 double suited
board comes 5567K rainbow
Through each step in pl and fixed what would be your best assuming one player is playing high(theoretically take XX55) and another player holds A2XX.
Being that the A2XX player is unlikely to fold given they have nut low and that XX55 player will not fold given he has the nut low.
I know position is important so just kind of break it down by positions as well if possible.
Basically what I am asking is in pl and fixed is it better to allow the quarter to maximize possible return of investment, or is it best to fold your option to reduce any further loses.
Thank you.
Thank you.
2 AnswersGambling1 decade agogroup and set theory question?
I have a couple problems I cannot really figure out
Let S be a set with an associative law of composition and with an identity elemment. Prove that the subset of S consisting of invertible elements is a group.
Let S be any set. Prove that the law of composition defined by a*b = a is associative.
and last one
Suppose that G is a group in which all elements x satisfy x^2 = e. Prove that G is a commutative group.
(e is the identity element)
I know they are probably simple, but I do not know much about the associative law of composition, because for whatever reason its not in the book.
