  • Does my dad have cancer?

Last Thursday at about 1 am my Dad was sick after a sudden onset of nausea after laying down to sleep. He had drank a glass of wine and 2 shots of Jack Daniels before going to bed. After the vomit attack he was intense burning pain in his right abdomen. We rang 111 and we were sent to the all night emergency doctors. They suggested it maybe pancreatitis and that we should have him checked at the hospital. We went to the hospital, by which time the pain had stopped. They took blood and urine samples and felt at is abdomen. He was no longer in pain so everything checked out normal. The blood and urine samples came back normal too. He was discharged.

Now a bit of extra information about my Dad; he has had attack like this before usually after drinking heavily, drink real ale or eating a large amount mixed with alcohol. He's had about 3 of these attacks over the past year and a half, usually the pain is in his chest, this time it was in his abdomen. He is, or was, quite a heavy drinker, drinking 1 or 2 glasses of red wine every night. He smokes too, about 5-10 a day.

Since his most recent attack he has not been able to drink without feeling nauseous. So he has effectively given up alcohol.

However since the attack he still occasionally feel woozy and bloated and he has lost about 10 pounds since the last time he weighed himself, when the last time was i have no idea but he doesn't weigh himself regularly.

Other than this he seems fine, he doesn't seem tired and his appetite hasn't been affected at all.

My question is, is it likely he has something such as stomach cancer, or pancreatic cancer? Or is his body just telling him to stop the drinking? Or could be something such as acid reflux.

    Thanks for your time.

  • Can germs travel on surfaces?

If I touched a bateria such as E.Coli then touched the top corner of a magazine, or a the edge of a table would the germs move around on the surface, or stay put? If I came back an hour or two later would they have moved from the area or still be in the same location?

  • Could my Girlfriend be Pregnant?

Me and my girlfriend have had sex a number of times all using a condom, I have never ejaculated inside her either, even with a condom on. But, the other day, I had some pre ejaculate on my hands and then a while later, in which time the pre ejaculate was dry on my hand, I pleasured my Girlfriend with the same hand. She's now 3 weeks late for her period, although she's regularly late for her period I'm still worried that she might be pregnant. Is it likely? she was 2 weeks late before we had engaged in any sexual activity but i'm still worried. Should i be?

  • Can you get sick from toilet water splash back?

A bit of a gross subject but....

I had a bowel movement and water splash back came up between my legs and a small droplet splashed my chin. I'm not sure if it went on my face, I didn't feel anything anyway. I washed my face and neck straight away and rinsed my mouth out with mouthwash. Is it likely I'd get E.Coli or something? I'm emetaphobic so I really don't want to get sick.

  • How long can a Cold Virus live on Skin?

This is a question I can't seem to find the answer for. I met up with friends yesterday one of whom had a cold, and seeing as I am a Hygiene Freak i tried my best to avoid catching it. However at one point she touched my hand. From this point onward i didn't touch my face as i knew i could potentially catch the illness. I drove home, washed my hands thoroughly and didn't think anymore of it. Later that day I went somewhere else in my car, touching the infected steering wheel etc. I then scratched my leg whilst driving. When i returned home i washed my hands. But my question is, if I touch this area of my leg before i wash/take a shower, will i get the virus on my hands?

  • Do you have Lymph Nodes in your Perineum?

I found a two little bumps in my perineum, about 5mm or less. They feel rather lymph node-ish and i have to dig quite deep to touch them. They move too. Is this anything to worry about?

  • Am I suffering From Anxiety or do I have cancer?

For the past 4 years I have worried about dying from cancer, sometime convinced I have it. It all started because i found some lymph-nodes in my neck. I have felt them ever since. Around the same time i developed as Hoarse like cough. I was convinced I had Cancer but my mum said i was fine and i thought nothing of it. I've have continually poked my lymph nodes however for the past 4 and managed to dig around and find some more in my Groin. The thing is they never really got any bigger so i thought nothing of them. This year they began to hurt as i felt them more and more and again i was convinced I had cancer. I still have the cough too. So I decided to stop poking them as I probably aren't doing them any good. They have started to go down surprisingly, which gave me a little bit of hope. But whenever I think about them, I worry and start to feel like I'm dying. Fatigued and Lethargic and I occasionally feel pain. But then the next day I can feel fine. And then i can feel fine for weeks. Then I'll have a bad few days again. My lymph nodes are 3mm to 15mm in size and have never really got bigger. Just pain from poking them. I just want to Know if these 'dying' symptoms are something i should worry about, or self inflicted and Psychological. Also over the past 5 years I have gained GERD and Post Nasal Drip like symptoms which could cause my cough? I have always been a 'mucus heavy' person. A lovely Image, I know. I just would like somones oppinion on the situation, these thought control my life. I also constantly worry about certain social situations, My parents dying and getting sick, as I'm emetophobic.

I'm Male, 18. I've not lost any weight or gone off my food. I'm still also going through growth spurts as i was a late developer.

  • Do I have Basal Cell Carcinoma?

A couple weeks back I found a little pink shiny spot like thing on my leg. I have mild eczema on my leg and i just assumed it was just an irritated area of skin. 3 or 4 weeks later it's still there. It hasn't grown and it doesn't bother me, it's about 2.5-3 mm big. It's not 'crusty' like a lot of BCCs I've have read up on, and my legs haven't been out in the sun for 5 years or so and even then it was only a few days a year in summer. However I am pale skinned and rarely tan. I'm male and 18. I know you can't diagnose across the internet but I just want to know if I should be concerned?

  • Are my Neighbors being cruel to their cat?

My Neighbors have a lovely 8 month-ish tabby cat. They used to have two but one died recently due to Ethylene glycol poisoning. The neighbors are out for about 8-12 hours everyday. On occasion they're are in most of the day. Due to this they used to put the cats out during the day when they would come to our house. Then when the owners came back we would put them out so they can have their cats back. This was fine until one died like a previously mentioned. They have now started locking the remaining cat in during the day and letting it out at night. What I'm worried about is this poor little cat is stuck in on its own everyday for long periods of time with no human or animal contact. The only real contact he gets is when he comes to our house late at night. Will he be okay with this? I don't know what to do. I don't want to report them because they are lovely people and they probably just don't realise there cat is being neglected. What should I do?

  • Do I have Head and Neck Cancer?

I'm 18 and I worry about almost anything. For about 3-4 years I have been worrying about lymph nodes in my neck. I discovered them in October 2009 I think, although it could have been 2008, and there were 3 Nodes in my neck. One about 1cm big and two others 5mm big. I worried about them all night assuming I had cancer until I discovered what Lymph Nodes were and then thought nothing else about it. I prodded them on and off since that night. About a year ago I found too more lymph nodes in my groin, which are a similar size. I also got a slightly visible tonsil on one side, the same side as the neck lymph nodes. It wasn't infected and it was the same colour as the rest of my throat. It has been visible ever since. Recently my lymph nodes have been hurting me, almost like a muscle pain. I have prodded them pretty hard the last year. I also sometimes get pain in my ear on the same side and my throat. It's not constant pain it's just the odd occasion. Normally it occurs when i wake. I have had post nasal drip and a cough from around the same time as discovering my lymph nodes.

My main question is, do I have cancer or are these symptoms been brought upon by my self. Does my constant prodding cause my lymph nodes to be in pain and cause my Tonsil to be visible. Does it also cause the pain? I am quite worried and I know i should go to the doctor but I just wondered if i am being silly and I'm perfectly healthy and should stop prodding around.

  • Can colds be caught through breathing?

I am your regular hypochondriac who always worries about being ill/ becoming ill. Today one of my friends had a cold which didn't seem too bad. She hugged me and lent on me a few times but I'm much taller than she is and her head only comes to my chest. Anyway i didn't touch my face and she didn't sneeze or cough during the time i spent with her. I also went in the shower as soon as i got home. So I'm wondering, can colds be transmitted through breathing? I know coughing and sneezing spread the virus, but can regular breathing? I'm worried about catching it as i have a university interview next week and the last cold i had a few months ago was really bad and made me vomit. And guess what I'm emetophobic too. Thanks for any answers!

  • Has my Dad got heart problems or had a Heart Attack? Please Help!?

I worry about almost anything and my dad has had a few 'episodes' since summer which has got me worrying. The first was about 5-6 months ago. We were on holiday and my Dad went with some friends from the hotel to a Pub whilst me and my Mum stayed at the hotel. When he came back he was complaining about severe chest pains and went straight to bed, my Dad hardly ever goes to bed before us so we knew something was up. He was all cold and clammy so we assumed the worst but he fell asleep and the next morning he was fine. We thought it could be indigestion as we eat a lot more on holiday than at home. Normally after eating my dad has a 'power nap' and on this occasion he didn't and just when straight out. Could the combination of food and alcohol caused the pain? When we got home my mum tried to convince him to get his blood pressure checked but he wouldn't go, adamant it was indigestion. about 2 or 3 months passed and we didn't think anything of it. Then one night after a 'power nap' my dad stood up he went dizzy and had to lay down again. 15 minutes went and he was still dizzy. He went clammy again. He then went to bed. Again it's unusual for him to go to bed before me and my mum. The next morning he was fine. No chest pains this time. My mum was sure it was the same thing and and wanted him to go to the doctors. My dad wouldn't and said it was nothing. Another 3 months passed and everything was fine until yesterday. My mum and dad had gone out round town for a friends birthday. When they came back my dad was more drunk than my mum which almost never happens. My mum said he had drank some strong stuff so i though nothing of it. He ate about 5 left over pizza slices, crisps and some questionable chocolate fondue. He then went to bed before me and my mum. I was suspicious but just assumed it was because he had drank a lot. about 20 minutes later he was sick which again i assumed was due to a combination of drinking and food and went to sleep. This morning my mum said he had chest pains for an hour in bed before they got to sleep. He kept jolting and said he couldn't breath properly. But then when he woke up this morning he was fine. His normal self. My mum is trying to persuade him to go to the doctors but he wont again saying it was indigestion. Which is very possible as he had drank quite a lot and eat quite a lot whilst sat on the floor hunched up. Sorry this is so long but I would like to know if my dad has got anything serious as it's quite worrying. He's 47 and has smoked about 3-10 a day for about 20-30 years. I'm really worried can you help?

  • I am worried i have cancer, is it likely?

I have a 'Lump' in my perineum area [Between the penis and anus]. It's about 2mm-5mm big. It's movable and sort of squishy. It's sometimes more of a thickening. It is also more feel able with an erection. Sometimes it's pretty impossible to feel, and sometimes it's easy. Recently my urethra has been hurting slightly after pressing on the lump. I think this could be due to irritation. Should i worry about this lump? I have had this lump since last January and it hasn't seemed to increase with size. I also have feel able lymph nodes in my neck, they are moveable. I have noticed these for 3 years. They are about 3mm-1cm big and haven't got bigger. I also have 2 feel able lymph nodes in my groin area which are a similar size but aren't movable but you have to press down hard to find them. I have had noticed these for about a year. Please help me, i worry constantly about it yet i daren't go to the doctor in case i hear the worst. I am 17 and male, Thanks.

  • Late Puberty. Is my growth normal?

I didn't start puberty at all until i was 14. I'm now 17. My penis is about 3.4 inches flaccid and 5.5-7 erect.

I have pubic hair but not that much armpit hair. I Started to grow facial hair this year. (If i shave it takes about a month or two to grow back.) Do you think my penis will get bigger? I've only been going through puberty for 3 - 4 years. Thanks for any feedback

  • Am I going to catch a sickness bug?

There's this sickness bug at college and i really don't want to get it, Ive not been sick for 6 years. I'm also emetophobic (scared of being sick). I always wash my hands thoroughly and use hand-wash when there no water and soap nearby. Anyway, this guy who was sick, he stopped being ill about 3 - 4 days ago may a spat whilst talking which landed on my lip near the bottom. I went straight to the toilet to wash my face but i couldn't see any spit in the mirror so I'm hoping there was never any spit there. I also have since found out that that soap doesn't even kill germs. SO I'M REALLY WORRIED!

Also about an hour later I washed my mouth with mouthwash, just to be sure! I also take vitamin C tablets.

    I may sound like a freak, but I don't care ;)

  • I have a cough, is it serious?

I have had like this cough thing for about 3 years. Its not bad but its worrying me. I don't think I cough more than anyone else it just sounds different, like a bark or a vibration. My mum has a cough and so do my grandma and grandad so I wondered if it was hereditary. Over the last week or so the cough has been annoying me as after i drink is makes my lung and windpipe area feel itchy when i breath. I was looking around and one guy a tracheotomy - I was like - 'No thanks!' so i came here. I'm not coughing up blood just white or clear mucus but most of the time its dry.

Im almost 17 and im a major hypochondriac so i have a disease per week. I appreciate any answers as to why i have it and to wether i should worry about it.

    ps i hate the doctors.

    Im almost

  • I have swollen lymph nodes HELP!?

FACT: I'M A MASSIVE HYPOCHONDRIAC! - I have had just about every disease Lol.

I have 3 lymph nodes down a line from my ear, the highest up is about 1cm maybe a tiny bit more, one lower down which is smaller and the lowest one which is quite hard to find and you have to press hard. They move around and they have never bothered me i have had them for 1 or 2 years. Recently my life has revolved around them and mostly its all i think about. I'm 16 year old male and I'm generally quite healthy.

I have self diagnosed the cause of these nodes:

    - I have really bad eczema on my lower legs since I was 6 or so.

    - Normal size nodes?

    - Hormones and growing etc. - I'm a late starter in puberty.

Recently I have been achy and tired but its the Christmas Holidays and all I have done is sit down eat and slouch over the computer when normal I'm walking several miles a day to College.

Your probably wondering why I have put so much detail but a REALLY HATE the DOCTORS. Sooo... I just wanted another opinion. My mum had cancer (who is fine now) and she says I'm fine and to stop going on as it features in every other conversation. (My Dad hates it).

I just wanted to know if my diagnosed causes are correct.

  • Flash cs5 export problems - the video is longer than it should be...?

I have exported a video which when in flash performs slow as a SWF as I have created a blurred fast moving image. But, when I exported the video file i assumed it would be the same length as in the

time line but it isn't, it plays at the same speed as the SWF file and is 33 seconds long when it should be 8. Does anyone know how I can stop this from happening?
