Hiyaz. Thank you for reading my "About me" thingy. Cya!

  • How do you disable Windows Vista program files protections?

I know for a fact there is a protection on Vista that basically is set up to keep stupid people--even with administrative rights-- from marching into the program files and deleting core data. However, the life of a computer-savvy person becomes handicapped when they can't edit their own program files. If anyone knows how to disable this (or can at least tell me what its called again so I can search it) I would appreciate it very, very much.

Just to be clear, I am the admin and I am giving approval, its just windows blocking me from editing the files due to a certain system setting that I'm not sure what it's called or where it's located.

  • Can something be impossible yet necessary? Logic question?

In logic, I'm looking to find if something that is impossible can have the quality of being necessary. I'm in yet another debate, and my opponent is suggesting that a mathematical proof for 1+1=5 may be illogical and non-existing, but claims that because he can define a proof as "necessary" that he can say something that is impossible can still carry with it the qualities of being necessary.

Again, I already know Alethic logic says "necessary if and only if it is not possibly false" but I'm looking for anything else that may aid me in this. Sources also please, thank you!

  • Did Slavery affect learning capabilities?

I recall reading a long way back in some psychology book that learning capabilities expand over time. As in, as time progresses, we gain the ability to learn more, so theoretically it should take more than a single generation of those who were enslaved to catch up education wise to whites who had a couple century leap on them. I can't recall though, and I'm currently in a debate over the issue.

Does anyone know if being kept uneducated for many centuries can affect the learning capabilities of said group that was refused education? The assertion made by my opponent is that it would only take one generation of kids to be able to learn the exact same information and do just as well, while my side would say that it would take many generations to slowly catch up with the rest of the world in education.

Does anyone know if you can drive in other states with a provisional license? I doubt you can with a permit, I know you can with a full license, but what about a provisional..?

  • Do any know proteins form without chaperonins?

Sweet and simple: Amino acids can form peptide bonds and become amino acid chains, but is there any *known circumstance where proteins have formed without cellular help from chaperonins?

  • Do you need protein to make protein?

So, I'm looking once more for help from the all-powerful Y!A community. Finding sources and information is hard, especially when trying to disprove something you assume isn't even true or correct. In a debate, I've been told that you need protein in order to fold amino acids into proteins which (as per an older question, though the prior was asking about DNA replication, not protein creation) is like a chicken and egg problem. My question is: Do you need proteins to create proteins, and if so or not so, can you please provide source information? I've yet to be able to find any and thus I am consulting the vast pool of knowledge that Yahoo users have.

  • Republicans, Now that there is no more IRS "scandal"..?

Are you guys finally going to give up on the IRS scandal now that it's proven that Democrats were targeted also in the same manner and same numbers, and we've seen that Issa tried to create the scandal by refusing to release full transcripts of the investigation in one under-handed political partisan attack?

Or, is there still anything left of value you would like to try and get information from regarding the IRS?

Also, side poll, how many of you still follow/believe:

    -Benghazi

-Birther "Obama isn't a citizen" campaign

    -Other (Enter scandal here)

Curious. Not so much out of spite, mind you (even given my clear bias), but more because I'm actually interested to know if there is any value to the IRS thing left to be had, and just how many of you hold your own party accountable for these antics.

  • Query: Hk-47 lines, KOTOR?

So, HK-47 has a lot of epic lines (feel free to share your favorite!) but well, I'm not so much wondering about his lines, but the part before where he states what kind of information he is about to say. Does anyone know all of them? Like, Query, Irritated answer, Objection, Recitation, hesitant answer, etc.? I'm doing a little side thing for the heck of it and I wanted to know the authentic sentence types he uses.

  • Transgender percentage, who changes back?

I'm writing an article regarding Coy Mathis, and I'm trying to refute some claims made by both sides. Does anyone know if there is some source where I could find the percentage (if any) of how many transgender people change back to their original gender later on (Like, if a boy is a transgender girl, if they change back to a boy eventually and vise versa)? I'm sorry if my question is a bit confusing, it's hard to know how to word it, but I'm looking for percentages of people who were transgender and now no longer are (if there is any).

  • Christians: I have another question for you?

So (and I ask yet another question, once again with the same intent to be completely serious and looking for realistic answers), if we accept the premise that God is all knowing, has a divine plan, and sticks by that divine plan no matter what (unless someone cares to come up with a better explanation than "divine plan" for the Holocaust, famine, natural disasters, and other worldly problems. Remember though, he has to be able to interact with humanity, otherwise prayer holds no meaning anyway, and he has to already know everything that will happen simply because he is all knowing) then why does prayer matter? For what reason would a virtually omni-everything God change his perfect divine plan for one single person with a prayer? It doesn't make sense to me that he would change his absolute plan for someone with a prayer to win a football game, but would reject a prayer for someones mother/father/daughter/son/etc to live because it's "all part of his plan."

I look forward to answers for this one.

  • Christians: Answer me this?

I'm curious. Putting my bias aside, I've heard a very very good argument that makes me wish to question you all as a community and see the responses.

If God is so perfect and infallible, as is his word, the Bible (Inspired by visions he gave to the writers) why is there so much diversity in interpretation? If the Bible was perfect, wouldn't that mean it could only be viewed in one way as to not confuse his children? Would we really see this many denominations and variations if it were perfect?

If we say that it is not, as it was written by men via inspiration so it may have flaws, wouldn't that make the entire Bible discredited? If the Bible has flaws because people wrote it based on inspiration and not exactness, wouldn't that mean all the proof of God in it could be refuted simply from that single point given that the Bible was written by man?

If we say that it was written by man, and thus could be interpreted wrong as it did not come from the exact words of God himself, and so the Bible may have fallacies and parts that could be interpreted multiple ways, then wouldn't it be safe to say the entire Bible cannot be trusted? Would it also not be fair to say that God could have seen the future, known this would happen, and wouldn't have done this as it could lead to people believing incorrectly?

The above is my best attempt at reiterating a strong argument posed the other day that I liked. I'd like to hear refutations from the Christian community (fellow atheists, feel free to poke a few sarcastic puns in there too as I know you will, I do it too, but this is mainly aimed at Christians to see if this is a fair point)

  • Are proteins needed for DNA replication, is this a "chicken and egg" problem?

My friend and I are debating religion, and we've came to a crossroads. He makes the claim that you need DNA to make proteins, and you need proteins to make DNA, which is essentially the "chicken and egg" type problem. The question I have is this: Is this true, and does this make it impossible for a cell to be created outside of a deity (I understand this is somewhat of a religious-sounding question, though at it's heart it's more of a "is this a true premise or is it valid for debating" question)?

  • Fable: How to expose Lady Grey?

So, here's my problem: I'm playing Fable (Also, wondering if this is a lost chapters thing only?) and when I first met Theresa at the Grey House, I went in and ended up opening the cellar and already getting the letter that exposes Lady Grey (Possibly glitched the quest by getting it early?). I'm up to the part just before I have to fight Thunder, and I still can't find the prisoner that supposedly gives you the quest to expose Lady Grey. I'm wondering if I'm missing something here or messing something up?

Thanks to anyone who can answer for me!

  • Pledge of Allegiance came from where?

So, it is to my understanding that the idea of a pledge of allegiance originates from dictatorships wanting to control their people (Such as in the U.S.S.R. under Stalin). Now, I have gathered that information from a reliable source, and it *does* make sense, however I would like a fact check on that. Links & fact supported answers would be appreciated, I'm having trouble finding what I'm looking for via google.

  • 21 gun salute to chavez, are republicans so ignorant?

So, one idiot makes up a rumor. Now there are several posting the same fake "facts."

I actually took the time to look for any basis, any shred of evidence that maybe this whole "Obama 21 gun salute to Chavez" thing might actually be true. The ONLY thing that you'll find is Y!A questions mentioning it. Not even Fox News mentions it. Thats how unrealistic that claim is.

Does anyone else feel this McCarthyism is really quite an insult to the intelligence level of humans? It seems to me that anyone will take any piece of information from any source, no matter how reliable, and consider it acceptable so long as it opposes their opponents viewpoints. Its just a tad bit sad to me.

  • Why did Speaker of the House John Boehner..?

Why did he try to push the blame for the sequester on the president and senate Democrats? Isn't it pretty obvious that senate minority Republicans are to blame for their repetitive filibustering? The Speaker is talking to deaf ears here. Informed, sane people know he's lying and Fox News watchers who believe him were already unintelligent enough to have blamed Democrats in the first place, so what exactly was the motive for the lies? I can see if its something to be skeptical of or something really open to either side to take the hit on, but isn't the sequester so blatantly obvious of a Republican fault that it would be pointless?

Maybe it's just me, I just wanted to ask the opinion of the oh-so-interesting Y!A community

(For those who don't know what I'm referring to, I'm talking about the particular quote he said the other day claiming that if Obama and the Democrats had an actual plan for the sequester than "why wouldn't Senate Democrats go ahead and pass it" which is clearly impossible due to Republican filibustering)

  • Could I be the son of God #2?

Jesus was just a man who could perform "miracles" and so the Jews accepted that he was the son of God (or at least, thats what the bible would preach). Thing is, as an upstart magician, I can tell you straight up that I can think of ways to make it seem like I turned water into wine and could walk on water just as I could find your card in a deck.

And clearly, if I did any trick involving me turning water into wine then claiming to be the son of God, no one on earth would believe me. In fact, they'd call me insane.

So what is the difference between me and Jesus? How can a Christian accept Jesus to have done any miracles when it is clearly possible it was a simple mind trick as opposed to a real miracle? And how come no one would accept me as the son of God if I did exactly the same as Jesus did?

Is it all a matter of whether or not your name is in a book, in the end?

  • Second Life Cache Clearing?

So, from what I gather, I'm supposed to go to C: \ Users \ (USER NAME) \ AppData \ Roaming \ SecondLife and C: \ Users \ (USER NAME) \ ApplData \ Local \ Secondlife and delete all "contests" to clear the cache -- Question, what is the word "contests" in this mean? everything? the folders? the random pages? or is there something here labeled "contests" I should be looking for?

Thanks for the help in advance!
