I ask because they did at home, but we had a rather odd shower, and the floor of it wasn't a standard materiel. Now I'm renting a room, and really don't want to stain the shower here because I'd have to pay to get it unstained. But I'd like to dye my hair a bit, with one of the semi-permanent dyes. So do they generally stain the shower?

If I'm writing a thought paper on the part of a novel we've read in class so far, and I make a prediction about what will happen in the latter part of the novel, is that a contestable claim???

Someone who had read only up to where we are could contest it, but someone who had read the whole book would know the right answer one way or another, and wouldn't need to contest it.

So I'm thinking it's not, but wondered if you had other opinions. Thanks.

I knew it was a bad paper, but I had nothing to say in it. That's why it was so bad.

The professor said in his comments that "your ideas and responses to the text are really good....you're right right about what you're seeing in the book, and .....you see the complexity. And your responses to particular passages and moments are likewise convincing and perceptive."

That's very nice, but then:

"The difficulty...is that....you're not yet certain how to present this material in the form of a tightly-structured 3-4 page critical essay.. A chunk of the paper's midsection is basically a compilation....of evidence, rather than an organically unified argument that both sets forth an interpretation and clearly works through that interpretation, step by step....."

This is totally and completely true. I agree with him. It's awful. I knew that when I turned it in, but I couldn't make it any better. I had nothing to say.

Now, I have to write another paper, and I really want to do better! Help?

Any help? One of my professors has assigned us to write a thought paper on something (he gave an actual topic, but mentioning what it is won't help) that we've been reading about in class. It has to be based on one or two of the texts we've read. I just don't think I have anything to say about it, and I'm supposed to come up with an arguable point to make. How about advice on how to fake it? Or anything?

I am getting this error message when I try to connect to the Internet using the wireless connection provided by my landlord. It used to work just fine, then a few days ago the wireless wasn't working at all, he fixed it, and now his kids' and wife's computers can all use the wireless, but mine apparently can't. I've investigated pretty thoroughly in all the network settings, and everything else that looked likely.

I can use a different wireless network by going outside and sitting on the trunk of my car. That's what I'm doing now, but my fingers are getting cold. I just made my computer get a new IP address, but haven't tried with it on the landlord network yet. However, I'm not too hopeful. But we'll see. Any advice? Experience? Why is this happening, and what exactly is it?

This is for my sister.

She tells me that her MacBook's desktop has changed from the picture she had to being completely blue, and she can't click on any of the icons on it.

All her applications and stuff still work, she just has to access them through finder instead of the desktop.

She has tried repairing the disk permissions, which didn't help.

She has tried to put her old picture back on her desktop, and it looks right in the system preferences pane, but doesn't actually work.

I've searched the apple support discussion board, but while I found a couple people with similar problems, nobody had answered them. Please help! :) Thank you!

I bought one from a catalog a long time ago, and carved it and it was nice. I can't remember what they're called now though! I think it was something that started with "T."

My mom saw this awful movie on late night TV years ago and would like to know what it was. We like awful movies. All she remembers is the above quote, and that the editing was choppy at best. Please identify the movie if you can!
