We are planning a week long trip to London during Easter 2013 (with wife and 7 year old kid), and would like to make a day trip (or an overnight trip) somewhere. Would you recommend Brighton? Is is quiet or crowded at that time?

Is there some other place in less than 2 hrs train ride from London that you could recommend?

Also any tips to spend the Easter in London with a family are much appreciated.

Background info: I've been to England a couple of times, my family has not. Our daughter does not understand the language, so that may influence our choice of program..

Many years ago I visited a huge Dr Martens shop in London. It was located in Covent Garden. Is the shop still there? If not, where can I find a large selection of Dr Martens shoes?

Does anyone know the exact date for the hotel opening? All I find from the website is mid-2007.

A friend of mine is travelling to Rome, Italy, and she has booked a room in a hotel that's supposed to have a "french bed".

I'm not familiar with hotel terminology, so does anyone know what does this mean?

We're planning a trip to Japan in mid March, and we plan to visit at least Nagoya, Tokyo and Kyoto. We're going to buy the Japan Rail Pass, and I'd like to know two things. First: is it easy to travel with a child in trains? How can we take a stroller with us (we have normal luggage as well)? Are there special cars for children in trains?

Second: what is the validity period for a 7 day rail pass, if we first start to use it let's say it 2 PM on Monday. Is is valid until 2PM on Sunday, or is it valid to 11.59 PM on Saturday / Sunday?

Also: do you have any suggestions for itinary and accommodation in those cities, and/or other places? We'd like to see some nature, and countryside also, and not just big cities.

I'm travelling to Singapore and plan to visit Malaysia as well in a couple of weeks. I'd like to know if I can find the latest and best Gillette razor there (as it is not yet sold in my country)?
