3 AnswersHigher Education (University +)1 decade agoWhy are car manufacturers allowed to build cars that can exceed the speed limit?
Instead of all the expenses going to cops trying to check speed limits, traffic tickets, court costs for speeding, speed related traffic accidents, and billions of dollars spent on this cat and mouse game, why not pass laws forbidding the auto industry to build cars that exceed certain speed limits? This is very possible What's your take on this?
11 AnswersSafety1 decade agoIn which country was chess invented?
I had a discussion with a Dutch friend of mine today as to the origins of chess. He is ademant that a German guy invented it about 400 years ago. In Iran we have 1500 year old poetry that mentions the game of chess. I was always under the impression that it came from India or Iran and it's mentioned on Wikepedia also.
Anyone have more info?
10 AnswersBoard Games1 decade agoWhy is there no Yahoo Answer categories for Practical Jokes and Pranks?
Can anyone add categories to Yahoo Answers? or do the web admins take care of that?
2 AnswersJokes & Riddles1 decade agoDoes anyone here find it ridiculous that when people don't have an answer, they tell you to seek counseling?
I mean this is Yahoo! answers. It's a cheap way of getting answers and others' experiences and opinions. Why is it that some people find it necessary to respond to a question they have no answer to by typing: "Get Counseling" ? duh! everyone knows they can do that. It just costs a bit more.

1 AnswerOther - Canada1 decade agoIs skin cancer a product of our evolutionary misjudgement?
Why don't animals get skin cancer? They have no clothes on to protect them from radiation. Is their fur protecting them?
Lately I have started to think that millions of years ago mankind did not have problems with radiation from the Sun but as we started wearing clothes to protect us from the cold, we lost the body hair and an eventually our immunity to the radiation was reduced to a point where we are now very vulnerable. Clothes are as unnatural as artificial sugar.
Incidentally, darker people in Africa have less cases of skin cancer and I attribute that to the fact that they have been wearing less clothing than the rest of the world population and their immunity has not been been affected as much, at least so far.
Any thoughts?
3 AnswersSkin Conditions1 decade agoI wrote this poem for my dad who passed away in January?
I travel to the other side of the world
on land, on water, on foot
my joints rusty and my hands are cold.
News of my father who is no more
runs through the boundaries of my conscious,
numbs my mind and makes me fold.
He asked for me from his hospital bed, I was told.
Long ago on a rainy day he held my hand as we walked:
on land, on water, on foot.
He pulled me left, he pulled me right.
He pulled me away from the mud,
for my new shoes had to stay nice and bright.
Now I travel to the other side of the world
my joints rusty and my hands are cold
as they carry the man,
turning left and turning right.
on a rainy day.
I cry a bit, I cry alot.
I leave my father there, under the mud.
7 AnswersPoetry1 decade agoWhat do you guys think of my idea to fix the penalty kicks problem?
Lots of games are decided by penalty kicks and at times it does not seem fair. The goalkeeper is most certainly at a disadvantage. The problem is that the ball is too close to the game. I think there should be two separate penalty kick spots. One like there is now. But this one is only used for penalty kicks during the course of the game. There should be an additional penalty kick spot for tie-breaker penalty kicks. This spot should be right behind the box not inside. That way only great shooters can score. The way it is right now, the most tricky and many lucky shooters score. Let me know what you think.
