  • tick control for my puppy?

I have a 7 month old Coton de Tulear who is being eaten alive by ticks. I apply Frontline Plus diligently and while he does not have any fleas it does not seem to effect the ticks at all. We do take him to the baseball field behind out house which we will not do anymore and I plan to spray the yard. Anyone know of a better medicine to give him for ticks? My vet said Frontline Plus was the best thing on the market.

  • How do you know when your cat's quality of life is gone?

My 19 year old cat is starting to have problems eating. I've switched to wet food but she still seems to only want the gravy. I suspect there is a lot more going on than tooth problems after all she is 19. She acts okay, but she is losing weight. I've heard cats can hide their pain very well. Will she let me know when it's time to go? I took her in about 3 years ago to have her teeth cleaned/extracted and it cost me almost $500. I don't have that kind of money right now. She is probably in renal failure as well. She smells like urine and her breath has a really foul odor. I've excepted the fact that she probably isn't going to live too much longer given her age and I don't want her to suffer. This is my first time to lose a pet and I'm not sure where to go from here.

  • Must I go to the hospital to have a sebaceous cysts removed?

I have two sebaceous cysts on my back that need to be removed. One has ruptured and the other hasn't. The one that hasn't is about an inch in diameter. I consulted a surgeon and on the first visit he acted like it would be no problem to do it in the office. When it came down to schedule the surgery he insisted that I have it done in the hospital because of the size and possible depth. I have no health insurance and they wanted $1,300.00 to have it done at the local hospital. That's not including his fee to actually remove them. I feel this is outrageous and that the doctor has mislead me. The have not changed size since he first saw them and they are not infected. This is a general surgeon. Should I consult a dermatologist? I have already paid $200.00 for nothing, he simply looked at them twice. I have already had one removed years ago in a local doctors office, so I understand the procedure and know what to expect. Any help is appreciated. I'm at my wits end and feel like this doctor is trying to take advantage of me.

  • large infected sebaceous cyst?

I have a large sebaceous cyst on my right shoulder that has become severely infected. I went to the Dr over a week ago and he prescribed me antibiotics and told me to see a surgeon to have it removed. I took the antibiotics for over a week and the cyst steadily got worse. Long story short, I am still on antibiotics, but the cyst burst yesterday and has been leaking blood and pus. I have a consultation appt with a surgeon tomorrow. My question is should I continue to let it drain or get emergency care?

  • How do I tell my friend to leave the little one at home?

I'm having a birthday party soon. When I invited my friend she said of coarse I'd love to come and I'll bring Lucy. Lucy is my not quite 2 year old Goddaughter. The problem is this is an adult party. There will be drinking, and all of my other friends are getting babysitters. I don't want to make my other guest uncomfortable because there is a sleeping baby in the next room and we are trying to have a party. How do I tell Lucy's mom that it isn't appropriate to bring her? She is aware of what kind of party this is going to be. I don't want her to feel like her child isn't welcome in my home, but I also don't want to be quiet all night so the baby can sleep.

  • How do I care for my hydrangeas over the winter?

I have new hydrangeas that I planted this spring. They somehow survived the hottest summer on record (I live in Arkansas). They still have blooms on them now, but I'm wondering if there are any special instructions I need to know for this winter. We usually have a fairly mild winter, however last year it did get down to 2 degrees.

  • Should I cut back my canna lilies now?

Last year was my first year to have Canna Lilies. I did not cut back the dead leaves before winter. Should I cut them back now to allow for new growth? I pulled one stem out of the ground and it looked kind of like a mushroom at the end. Is that normal? Any help at all will be greatly appreciated as I have no idea what I'm doing.

  • Why is it that people don't tip as much when eating lunch?

I work at a restaurant and people consistently tip 10% or less at lunch, but usually tip 20% or more at dinner. Is there some unspoken code somewhere that says you don't have to tip as much when you are dining out for lunch? Lunch prices are lower than dinner prices so the tip still wouldn't be as much if they tipped 20%.

  • What's the best thing you've ever eaten?

Mine would have to be the home cooked meal we made for Valentine's Day one year. Beef wellington, lobster, and twice baked potatoes.

  • Repayment of Home buyers tax credit?

We bought a home in October of 2009. I amended my taxes for 2008 so we could receive the tax credit early. It was my understanding when we received the credit we would not have to pay any of it back unless we sold the home within 5 years, or it wasn't our main residence. I'm now seeing stuff saying that this year you must start paying it back. How can I find out if we are required to do so?

  • When should I count the first day of my period?

I'm 34 and have always had irregular periods. My husband and I are thinking about trying to conceive and I want to track my periods to see if I can come up with a pattern. My problem is that sometimes I'll just start and there is no doubt I am menstruating. Other times I'll spot one day, then there may be nothing for another week. Or I'll start spotting and that's all there is. Should I count that as a period? I had some problems with heavy bleeding awhile back and the doc said it's because I may not be ovulating every month. I know I could get an ovulation kit, but will it tell me if I'm not ovulating at all? Thanks in advance for all your help.

  • What are some super fat burning exercises?

I'm a 34 year old female, 5'4" tall and right now I weigh roughly 182lbs. I'd like to lose about 40lbs or so. I'm not looking for a miracle cure, I know I'm going to have to do the work. I use to work out at the gym 3/4 days a week, however that's been about 6 years ago. Due to my location it's not practical to go to the gym. I have a treadmill and an exercise ball at my house. I'm looking for some exercises targeted to the abdomen, upper thighs, and chest area.

  • Why are people so concerned with me getting pregnant?

I'm 34 years old. My husband and I have been married a little over two years, but we have been together for 17. As soon as we got married everybody started asking us when we were going to have a baby. Like marriage automatically gets you pregnant. Two years later, they are still asking the same question. We are not trying to get pregnant, but we are not using any birth control either. I'm not even sure I can get pregnant. I feel like it's mine and my husbands business if we pro-create, not casual acquaintances, and distant relatives. Anyone else ever had this problem? How to I politely say it's none of your freaking business?

  • Elephant ear bulb planted in a container?

I planted an elephant ear bulb in a container over a month ago, and I'm still watering a pot of dirt. I did plant it about 4 inches beneath the soil. Could that be the problem or am I just being impatient? I try to give it plenty of water and keep it in the sunlight. Thanks for any help.

  • What computer security do I need?

My windows live one care subscription ran out and I can't remember my id or the password. It said they are not taking new subscriptions when I tried to get a new id. What is something similar or do you have any suggestions as to how I can find my id. I tried going to "help" for my id and password, but that didn't help at all.

  • How long is too long to leave cooked beef/pork out?

My husband made a pot of chili with beef and pork last night and left it sitting on the stove all night in the pot. It sat out for about nine hours, but was probably still hot for the first three or so. He thinks it's okay and says he's going to eat it. I don't want to have to take care of a sick husband.
