  • How do I continue a relationship with my friend who doesn't support my carrier choice?

I recently announced my big news of wanting to become a makeup artist for television/theater to my friend, and she doesn't exactly agree with it or doesn't seem to be happy for me. She has said on a couple of occasions that "the people in that industry are "fake" & why would I wanna work with them". I've said to her that that is a huge misconception that some people have & that the people in this industry are amazing, creative - arty people who I can't wait to be more a part of. But she doesn't seem to agree, which well, that's her opinion I guess. Even though it's a wrong one. But she could at least support me.

I haven't explained how devastated or disappointed I was at the time with her, but I don't think that would help anyways. She probably doesn't even remember the last time we spoke, but I do. And I haven't spoken to her since. And I'm not sure I know how to. Do I contact her & just move forward with the friendship, but just never mention anything about my progress to become a makeup artist ever again? -Which I couldn't imagine not being able to talk about my aspirations with her. Or, do I explain to her that it really disappointed me that she doesn't support my passion & that I'd appreciate it if she did? Or do I just move on & leave this friendship in the past?? Oh what to do & how to deal with her. Would really appreciated some advice on this & any specific answers to my questions here please. Also, this person has been like a second Mum to me in the past & has supported everything else I've shared with her that my mother hasn't, except this. -Which I think is why I'm so crushed by her response. Thanks in advance for any responses. :)

  • What time will lady gaga perform on new years eve in Time Square?

Me & my husband will be in NYC for New Years this year & have already booked & payed for tickets to see Deadmau5 on Pier 36 (no refundable). Then found out Lady Gaga will be performing in time square. Which is even more exciting, but we'll probably be going to Pier 36 @ 9pm THE LATEST. We have planned to hang out in time square till then. Perhaps make reservations @ a time square restaurant. Does anyone know if Gaga is set to perform before that time (of 9pm)??? Or what time is she set to perform exactly? I'm anxious to know!!! Would love to have both my dreams come true & see Deadmau5 & Gaga!!!!!!

  • Ideas on what to wear for our renewal of vows ceremony in Central park in December?

Me and my husband are renewing our vows in Central park towards the end of December and I really have my heart set on wearing a tea length 50's style strapless dress, with a large fur shawl to wrap around my top half. But I have a feeling I will still be cold, but think I might be able to handle it?!!? Would really appreciate any other fashionable suggestions that would fit in with the look I'm going for, or just any ideas on what to wear in general!! Thanks

  • What to where for our renewal of vows ceremony in Central park in December?

Me and my husband plan to renew our vows in Central park around December and I really have my heart set on wearing a tea length 50's style strapless dress, with a large fur shawl to wrap around my top half. But I have a feeling I will still be cold, but think I might be able to handle it. It will be our first time to New York though, so we've never experienced NYC winter!!! Will it be okay to wear this or any other suggestions that are still close to the look I want to wear????

    Thanks in advance!

  • Which type of updo will look better for a beach wedding? - Up high or a low updo?

I'm definitely going to be doing some kind of curly/messy style bun, but can't decide whether I want it on the side (down low), low bun at the back with hair poofed up around crown for volume, or a bun up real high near crown. Would appreciate any opinions or suggestions. Thanks!

  • Perfume measurements??? Help please!!!?

I am going to make my own perfume from essential oils, alcohol & water. I know & understand the method fine, it's just the measurements. Would like to know: how many mls is in; 75% of 15ml? 75% of 50mls? 5% of 15mls? 5% of 50mls? 20% of 15mls? 20% of 50mls?

Is there an easy way I can work this out for my self???

Also, do I need to add water or can it just be alcohol & essential oil mix?

  • When cleaning silver jewelery; is it normal for the polishing cloth to never run clean?

I recently bought a real silver chain necklace, which was slightly tarnished from sitting in the cupboard display. I've cleaned it several times using a proper jewelery cleaning solution & soft old toothbrush, then polishing cloth after & it comes up looking beautiful every time, but the polishing cloth just doesn't seem to run clean? Even after wiping several times, black just keeps running off it! Is this normal?

  • Engagement dinner party plans?

We got engaged three months ago and instead of doing a huge engagement party, I've decided to have just a small informal engagement dinner at a restaurant with four really close friends who are all in relationship/married. This is definitely what I want to do, but just wondered if there will have to be any major speeches or not? I was thinking I would like to get everyone's attention perhaps just before dinner is served & just simply thanking everyone for coming to celebrate our engagement with us, letting them know how much we value and appreciate their support & friendship etc. Just nice and simple. So what do you guys think?? Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated!

  • What's the best foundation for wedding make up?

I currently use Clinique Continuous Coverage. It's coverage is perfect & I would love to just be able to use it for my wedding day, but it has SPF 15 - which apparently doesn't show up well in photography & it isn't as long lasting. Any advise on this particular product &/or any other suggestions of foundation brands would be much appreciated!

    Thanks :)

  • How can I tell exactly what undertone I am & what foundation colour I am?

I think I'm between a pink and beige undertone, but I find that soft sand tone foundations suit me best (which are for yellow undertones?). I'm fair - medium skin, but not pale. So which tone would be suitable for me in make up forever HD foundation? I am currently using Sand Beige in Maybelline Superstay.

  • Mindfulness - How do you apply it to when you're having ongoing thoughts/worries that become obsessive?

Hi, my name is Sapphire and I'm interested in Mindfulness/Meditation. Therefore anyone else on here who happens to either practice Mindfulness/Meditation or has a bit of insight into my question, please feel free to share. Would love to here some mindfulness strategies on how to deal or not deal with thoughts that have already become obsessive. Or, how to prevent becoming so involved with particular feelings/thoughts of worry to the point where they become obsessive - without resisting them, but just not getting involved with them. ?

Thanks in advance for your kind answers :-)

  • What are some good brands for Translucent powder?

I've been looking online because I've had no luck at Chemists/drug stores or department stores. I'm wanting a translucent that's as transparent as possible, Matte (strictly no shimmer or glitter), no sunscreen and preferably compact (but it's okay if it's not). Just a basic matte translucent to set foundation! So far I've looked up Mac, Coastal scents and a couple other cosmetic sites, but I'm kinda over it and need some advice please!

    Thanks in advance! Smiles
