Someone posed the theory to me that The Roman Catholic Church managed to hold on to the only power left over from the collapse of the Roman empire. And that they used that power to effectively squash societies growth citing Copernicus, Galileo, The Inquisition, Dark Ages, etc . And while obviously impossible to definitively prove, is it reasonable to speculate if not for the interference of the Catholic Church on scientific research would humans be living in significant numbers outside of earth?

I answered a question about racism I noticed that the person asking had a some other similar questions, I later checked back to read some other responses and found that someone have give a very long and thoughtful answer only to come back and edit it saying "they couldn't believe they had been pulled in by a troll” What is a Troll and why are they called that?

I have my computer almost where I want it however I want a motherboard that won't be out for a few weeks yet. If I install Vista when I get it in a few days will I have problems reactivating it, if I upgrade my motherboard. Please don't post about system requirements or I will make fun of you, thats not what I'm asking.
