Hello. Jewish prophecy claimed the Jewish Messiah would be the son of David, the son of Abraham. The start of the new testament reads:

'An account of the genealogy* of Jesus the Messiah,* the son of David, the son of Abraham.

It then lists Jesus descendance through his father's side.... But I thought Jesus father was God.....

Is Jesus the son of God and NOT THE MESSIAH, or is the the Son of Joseph and NOT THE SON OF GOD?

Answer me that! Also Luk and Mat both list Jesus as having different genealogy, proof that the Bible's not always correct.

I really want to know what you think the future will be like. I'm worried it will all collapse within 200 years, possibly less. My beliefs not based on any religious conviction, more an analysis of how society's functioning.

If you're interested; then read on. For 95% of mankind's existence we were hunter gatherers, with a population below 5,000,000. We lived in a state like the garden of eden, we didn't farm, we just took the food from where we could get it.

About 15,000 years ago we invented agriculture which allowed our population to grow and for civilizations to come and go, but global population still never went above 500,000,000 people.

It's only fossil fuels that have allowed up to build our 'modern' society. We learned to turn Oil's energy into food, medical care, heating and lighting; mass transport and our way of life. Unfortunately oil's starting to run out (see oil productions bell curve), as are many other energy sources. Even with our wonderful technology we won't be saved from a loss of energy; and we don't have any technology that will replace oil based infrastructure that could deliver a civilisation anywhere close to ours.

Additionally we have damaged the planet's natural systems; we are farming the sea's to death and we grow crops in dead soil powered by oil derivatives. We have changed how the planet works; with floods and droughts; natural disasters being far more common. Our massive 7 billion population is far more than the planet can stand without huge amounts of energy.

What do you think about this idea? I fear mankind will resort to war and destruction to try and maintain what we have... it won't last though and ultimately a lot of people will suffer horribly.

I would like to know your thoughts. I expect many people will pray at Technology's alter for deliverance; my research suggests it won't. Technology isn't the same as energy. Many others will believe our civilization, unlike all the others that litter the history pages, is eternal and won't worry. Again every great civilisation that has fallen has thought itself eternal.

Hello there. My names David and I'm 25. I graduated with a 2:1 in BA(Hons) Game Cultures from London South Bank University back when I was 23.

I'm not motivated by money at all and I'm on a very low income right now, however I would like a higher income as I could use it to greatly increase the happiness of my family and start to build a better life. I would enjoy another job but the only time I'm really happy is when I'm learning, studying and trying to better myself. I love working towards goals and I desperately want something challenging to do that will stretch me. I had a difficult start, and nothing gives me greater pleasure than overcoming a difficult challenge. I'm a very hard worker; a philosopher and care deeply about the human race and the world (from an environmental perspective).

Could I do an MA or a PHD without much money? I would gladly work a second job to achieve this end. When I was young I felt like one day I would do great things, and I still hope I can.

These past few years I've stalled; I have seen complacency atrophy so many other wonderful people that could have been even greater had they vigorously followed their dreams and I'm terrified it will happen to me. Jobs; unfulfilling pointless jobs have stolen some peoples lives and left them embittered husks, and it really upsets me. Why, in one of the richest societies in the history of mankind are so few people able to pursue their ambitions? I enjoy talking to people on the street in the Stoic tradition, and there is just so much misery in this supposedly advanced society, especially in the cities. I would do anything to advance my education in the vain hope I can someday help mankind.

I'm thankful to be living in such a time as this, where my material needs are met whilst only spending 33% of my waking life working.

I have a great memory for facts and ideas; I love writing, being creative, researching, solving problems and I would love more than anything to continue my education.

hello. I just went out in the snow for half an hour. For the first 5 minutes I felt cold, then I was fine. After the walk I felt a burning feeling.

it seems to be we only feel when things change: for example we can only see because we see the difference between colors, in a white world without shadow we are blind.
