  • I read a book in 5th grade about a boy who found a dog on a beach and I can't remember the title!?

This boy finds a dog on the beach and takes it home. All I remember is that the dog learns to read the commands sit and stay because he was so scarred after being told those same things and left at the beach. I think there's also a scene where the boy and his mom are eating chicken wings in the car.

It's just been bothering the crap out of me lately!

    Thanks!

  • What is a good quote linking art to literature?

In Humanities, we're doing a formal speech linking a character from Lord of the Flies (Jack for me) and a piece of artwork. I wanted to start out with a quote linking literature to art for my attention grabber, and then lead off of that, and come back to it for my conclusion. Please make it by someone famous, or someone I could at least find on the internet. Thanks a lot in advance!

  • Mixed number question...has to do with trinomials and binomials and cancelling and whatever else algebra-ish!?

    I really don't understand this...

You only need to do one of them, just show all work so I know what I'm supposed to do, I really don't know

    Express in mixed-number form.

    6x(squared) - 7x + 15

    __________________ (divided by)

    2x - 1

    x(to the third) - 2x(squared) - 3x + 12

    _______________________________ (divided by)

    x + 2

    4x(to the third) - 200x + 28

    ______________________

    x - 7

I don't remember ever going over this in class, so I would really appreciate some help.

By the way, if anyone can give me the work correctly and tell me how to do exponents, automatic 10 points!!!!!

  • I think this is prime...is it? (Factoring polynomials)?

    Okay the problem is...

    6x(squared) - 3x - 18

I'm pretty sure it's prime, but I would just like some reassurance. If it's not prime, could you give me the two binomials? Thank you!

  • What is your favorite rhetorical question?

Maybe rhetorical isn't the best word but I mean like a question that really has no answer, like things you think of when you're bored...here's one taken from the book Jars of Glass (good book)

If electricity comes from electrons, does morality come from morons?

If you have any good ones, write them!!

The funniest/awesomest one gets best answer!

  • Animal Farm...is this okay sounding?

Okay, so the question is "With what ideas and with which characters is Orwell most in sympathy? How does he show his sympathy?"

    My answer:

I think that George Orwell sympathizes with Snowball most. When a writer "likes" a character, he will normally show it through the thoughts, actions, and words of the other characters. After the Battle of the Cowshed, Snowball was a real hero. Everyone loved him. "At the Meetings Snowball often won over the majority by his brilliant speeches...was full of plans for innovations and improvements. He talked learnedly..." Here he shows that Snowball is very smart, and always speaks with intelligence. On the very same page, Orwell writes "Napoleon produced no schemes of his own" and obviously does not appreciate Napoleon's role in the story. This reminds me of the Inkheart trilogy, and a character, Fenoglio (a writer). Many a time he states that he likes his villains better, and always ends their story well. His villains are the handsomest, brightest characters in the story. This isn't exactly how it is in Animal Farm, but it is similar. Orwell is always saying good things about Snowball, whether through narration or characters. Even after he's thrown out, the animals still believe he was good. "I do not believe that...Did we not give him "Animal Hero First Class' immediately afterwards?...I don not believe Snowball was a traitor in the beginning". These words were said by Boxer. Through him Orwell shows that he sympathizes with Snowball. Were he not the scapegoat, Snowball probably would have made a grand return carrying bushels of food for all the animals.

Any tips?...If it sucks do not be afraid to point out all its flaws.

The Constitution protected slavery in peace, but in war, Lincoln came to believe, the commander in chief could abolish slavery as a military necessity.

I have absolutely no clue...it has to do with the civil war and Lincoln, but the sentence makes no sense.

  • Hair issues, can someone save me?

    1. I sleep on one side of my head more than the other, so my hair is like impossible to fix up...or maybe it's just me. But even when I do get it looking nice, it deflates by 6th period (no matter how much hairspray I put in). Any hairspray suggestions?

    2. My hair is short (maybe a half-inch from shoulder-length), and it's honey blonde like Rosalie from Twilight's (sorry if you haven't seen it, I was at a loss) and gets frizzy easily. I don't have a lot of money to spend on hair products and I'm not creative...do you have suggestions of things I could do with my hair?

A link to a picture would be nice.
