Pre-washing, cutting and storing leafy greens?
I feel like I waste a lot of kale, spinach, etc because I haven't found a method where I can wash, cut and store them and have them last long enough for me to eat them, especially if I want to eat them raw (which I usually do!)
Anyone have any tips or hints on this to make it easier to keep greens fresh?! Thanks!
6 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan8 years agoMold between tile grout in shower?
To make a long story short, the apt. I live in spray painted the shower tiles before we moved in--so once that paint eventually washed off, to my dismay there was mold between the tiles of the lower half of the shower wall.
So...I've never been able to find anything that really works. I've applied bleach both a sponge, an old toothbrush, and with the "bleach pens", used, soft scrub, tilex, baking soda, bleach again and it's driving me CRAZY. I cannot stand mold.

5 AnswersCleaning & Laundry8 years agoFaux Meat products with little to no Texturized Vegetable Protein?
So I'm in what I guess is the early stages of attempting to transition into vegetarianism. I had tried before and noticed that, though I love MANY foods and dishes that don't involve meat, when I DID get that craving for the taste/texture of meat...I had nothing that I could "cheat" my brain with (i.e. faux meats.)
After failing my first attempt because of that, I decided to go to the supermarket and buy a few Morning Star products to hold me over until Friday when I go grocery shopping. It was late so I stopped at Wal-Mart and not a health food store and got what I could: vegetarian sausage, their little "hot pocket" like breakfast sandwiches, and chik'n patties. I glanced at the ingredients and was somewhat put off because it seems like there's a lot of processed soy, sodium etc.
Are there better brands that I could find at a health food store, or regular grocer? Are the products I bought just as bad for me as the real thing? And any advice/tips you have on addressing cravings for meat?
4 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan8 years agoUsing henna hair dye?
I've sworn off bleach and traditional hair dyes as I'm attempting to grow out my hair. However, I've heard that red henna is a great alternative to perm/semi-perm color and also doubles as a conditioner for hair. What is the effect of henna on hair (from personal experience, preferably) and are there any good products (dyes, shampoos, conditioners etc) that contain it? Any tips or warnings I should be aware of? Thanks!
2 AnswersHair8 years agoWill a Gentle Leader break?
We recently rescued a 2 yr old APBT who needs a lot of work on her leash training. I got a Gentle Leader the other day, and while it has made controlling her on a leash SO much easier, I am SO nervous that if she gets excited by another dog or a person, she will be able to bolt and break it. The material of the Gentle Leader is a 1/2 inch wide, made of your run of the mill nylon material. The nose strap is secured by a very flimsy looking plastic press-clip, and the the clip connecting the leash to the collar is nothing significant, either. All the other gentle leaders I saw were about the same.
So has anyone ever had a Gentle Leader snap when their dog lunged/pulled? How can I avoid that? We already take her out during times where MOST other dog owners are at work, or later in the evening--but there's no way to completely avoid other dogs as there are a LOT of them in our apt complex.
Thanks for your help.
7 AnswersDogs10 years agoClean freak/animal lover-Help?
I have a cat and, as of recently, a dog, too. I'm a clean FREAK, and my biggest fear is that our apartment will begin to smell overwhelmingly of DOG. Now there's sprays and candles, shampoos and vacuum powder--but what works best? What combination will keep my apt smelling fresh?
There are some people, gods among men, who have a million animals and also have emmaculate looking and SMELLING houses. And I want to be one of them. Now my pitty doesn't smell bad at all, and she's short haired so her fur doesn't collect very much dirt, she's also potty trained so urine smells aren't really a concern.
How do you keep your place from smelling like dog?
9 AnswersDogs10 years agoIntroducing New Pitbull to Cat?
First of all, if your knee jerk response is to say "zOMG THAT DOGS GUNNA KEEL YO CAT!!" Then I'm not interested.
1.) My cat is very used to, and tolerates all dogs, and has lived with dogs larger and less friendly than the Pitty (2 y/o female, spayed) that I am adopting. He is usually indifferent toward dogs in general, favoring avoiding them to the ol' "scratch and run."
2.)The Pit seems to be animal friendly. I spent some time with her at the dog park today specifically to observe that, but obviously there are not cats at the dog park, so I would appreciate some tips in introducting the two.
While I have experience introducing Jack (my cat) to dogs and other cats in "their" domain, I've never had to introduce a new dog into "his" domain, and I'm not sure how he or Coco (the Pit) are going to react. I am bringing Coco home on a day I have off so I can observe both of them.
If you have a multi-animal home--how did you introduce them? What are the most important things to keep in mind? What do you wish you had done differently? etc.
Thanks for your responses!

4 AnswersDogs10 years agoHow did you stop bickering with your partner/spouse?
I'm soooo tired of arguing with my boyfriend.
Quick Background: We're going through a stressful point in our relationship because of a lot of issues he has been having with his roommates, who are disrespectful to him and myself whenever I come over.
A lot of our arguments stem from this situation, or are intensified because of the background frusteration caused by his current living situation (Luckily he only has 2 more months with these people!)
What are some effective ways to prevent, avoid and resolve arguments so that we can cut at least this specific stressor out of our relationship?
If it helps, I'm a mellow person who doesn't usually start the argument, but I'm extremely stubborn, can be passive aggressive when an argument goes unresolved, and from what he tells me I "talk it to death." On the other hand, he's extremely quick tempered and just as stubborn as I am, so when we argue we usually butt heads until we become weary of arguing and eventually apologize to each other.
I would like for us not to have to argue to the point that we're both mentally exhausted from saying the same things over and over and over. Heeeelp!
3 AnswersOther - Family & Relationships1 decade agoMoving in with a boyfriend...?
My boyfriend's current living situation is causing problems in our relationship. He rooms with his brother and his brother's girlfriend, let's just call her, the Wendy. She is literally the RUDEST, most DIFFICULT person I've ever met.
The first time I came over, I said hi to her, only to be ignored and not even glanced at. The next few times I'd come over, I would say hi from the door, only to have the same thing happen. She consistently shot me dirty looks, and never introduced herself or even acknowledged me as I smiled at her and walked past her to go to my boyfriend's room.
After about a month of my boyfriend and I seeing each other, I had come over for appx the 7th time. She opened the door for me and I introduced MYSELF (finally). I tried to make conversation with her to no avail.
After that I came over on a regular basis. Usually around 11pm (everyone is still awake until around 1am, usually, Wendy and her bf were almost always awake in the living room watching TV) because my bf works two jobs and usually wouldn't be off until that time. We would always only hang out in my bf's room, as Wendy and her boyfriend (We'll call him "John") never tried to invite us to sit with them or make conversation. Since my boyfriend and I would only have a few hours to spend together, I would usually sleep over in his room and leave with him in the morning.
That said, I NEVER eat their food, and beside sleeping over, I'm there for only a few hours, hanging with my boyfriend, in his room or out of the apartment. We are not loud, we do not make messes, we let them take over the living room and essentially banish us to his room. Yet, Wendy texted my boyfriend asking him to keep his "guests" visits down to 2-3 times a week the other day.
My boyfriend is a grown *** man (almost 23), he pays an equal share of the bills. There is simply no reason for her to assume the authority of telling him who he can have over, when, or how often.
Because of this, we are constantly stepping on eggshells. We can't hang out past a certain time because Wendy might be in bed--and even if she's not, just seeing us come in will piss her off, and she'll ***** at John, who will in turn ***** at my boyfriend. All the stress from his living situation is causing us to argue on top of this.
We have a really great relationship, and we love each other very much. Considering this, could moving in together help our relationship, and how long would you normally date someone before considering moving in together? My boyfriend and I have known each other for a year, been dating for 4 months, and his by the time his lease ends, it would be 7-8 months of dating. Feel free to share your experiences!
(I've lived with a boyfriend before (after 7 months of dating), and realize that it does change the relationship, and it's harder than someone who hasn't done it before might think.)
2 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoAbnormal cells on last PAP?
So last year, the results of my PAP smear came back as having abnormal squamous cells that might indicate mild cervical dysplasia. Since then I had to switch insurance providers--with which I couldn't afford to have a follow up exam (but I WILL be going for my annual this year). After researching online I found a lot of sources say that abnormal squamous cells usually clear up on their own, especially with healthy adjustments to one's lifestyle, like taking vitamins. I've been doing just that, and hope that my next PAP will come back with no irregularities.
If you've had a similar result on your PAP, what did your OB/GYN do/suggest, and did yours clear up on their own? If not, what did you have to do? Suggestions/Tips?
3 AnswersWomen's Health1 decade agoPit Bull Owners - HELP?
I've been wanting to adopt a AST or APBT or mix for quite a while now. I'm aware that many housing insurance policies will not cover certain breeds, especially "Pit Bulls". However, I'm not really sure how often this is the case. I would feel awful if I adopted a PB and then had to turn around and return it to the shelter because of conflicts with breed restrictions.
Are such restrictions common? In other words, will I have a serious problem finding a place that will allow my dog?
If you've encountered such restrictions, what did you do?
5 AnswersDogs1 decade agoClingier than saran wrap.?
I started dating the most amazing, caring, intelligent, witty and thoughtful man in the entire world about 6 months ago. He's still as sweet as ever, but he's always around! My boyfriend is extremely clingy. I go to school full time and work about 30 hours a week. He thinks every spare moment I have should be spent doing things together. Sure, I love spending time with him--but with my schedule, most of my spare time should be left to studying and occasionally relaxing, but it's hard to do when he decides to spend the night (and day, for that matter)--for three days in a row at a time. Even that wouldn't be too much of a distraction...if he didn't follow me into every room, say he "missed me" when I went to the bathroom, or even won't let me take a shower alone. He's a very social person, plenty of guy friends...but when I suggest that he spends some time with them, he always says "I'd rather be with you." How is a girl supposed to argue with that?
Besides the clinginess, he really is my dream-man, and no I don't want to break up with him. There has to be a way to resolve this, ideas?
2 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoIf you've undergone acupuncture, did it work for you? And how well?
I've had problems with having knots in my shoulders and in general holding my tension in my upper back/shoulders for as long as I can remember. Recently I decided to look into acupuncture to relieve it along with some other things I heard it helps (allergies, PMS, etc.) I'm a skeptic when it comes to even conventional treatment, not to mention alternative treatments. So if you've used acupuncture, successfully or not, to try to treat anything, please let me know what your experience was like and any tips you have for me as someone who has never done it before. Thanks!
1 AnswerAlternative Medicine1 decade agoFoot Tattoo -- Does it really hurt THAT bad?
This question is targeted mainly to people with multiple tattoos, including foot tattoos.
I'm getting my 4th tattoo soon, and I want it on the top of my foot. It's going to say "Hope" and have some shading around it.
I've heard a lot of horror stories about the pain of foot tattoos, and in fact last time I went to get a tattoo I watched a girl scream her head off and tear up the sides of the chair while she got her foot tattooed. So is it really as painful as is generally believed? I'd like to hear your experiences and comparisons!

So I was blowing my nose a couple of minutes ago and I inadvertently pulled out my nosebone. I've had it pierced since December of last year. I'm pretty sick right now and don't feel like going out to buy a new one at the moment. Will it close if I wait to get a new stud tomorrow?

4 AnswersOther - Skin & Body1 decade agoNon-traditional healing methods for tattoos...?
So on my latest tattoo, I used pure vitamin E oil pretty much exclusively, rather than an ointment or lotion. My tattoo not only healed several times faster, but the scabbing and itching was less noticeable (even though this tat is way bigger than my last) and the color looks fantastic. Now, I realize this may not be completely due to using vitamin E oil--but it seems to be. Do any of you have any "unorthodox", so to speak, methods for cleaning/healing tattoos? And what do you think about not following the traditional route to the letter?
