Why is it so difficult to seal of a radiator tail fittings I've noticed that the threads are parallel threads instead of tapered pipe threads I've used copious amounts of PTFE tape and still have a leak I've now resorted to a thread sealant compound hoping that this will do the job. But if suggest I've got to wait at least 72 hours for it to cure.

I have had to replace the exhaust cam shaft due to a fault on one of the cam lobes but this wasn't the tapping noise plus as a precautionary measure i replaced the timing chain and tensioner as the engine has done just over 100,000 miles when the engine is un a very slight load or as i accelerate you can hear the tapping i have reset the valve clearances more than twice just to be sure it has been suggested it could be piston slap. any input would be appreciated

I turned the thermostat to the almost off position overnight and in the morning it had turned off i reset the thermostat to normal setting but it never came back on until i gave the thermostat i slight tap and the fridge restarted. the thermostat was changed a few years ago and has been running fine until now

What I mean by dialogue is when I am listening to the film that is playing all the music or action sounds are fine but when any of the characters on the film are talking the dialogue part whether they are in conversation with one another or just doing a soliloque their voices are not very loud in fact barely audible.as I have said the DVD that I was watching is one that I have played before and it was fine then.

The centre speaker which I believe produces the dialogue seems to be very quiet. I never used to have this problem and it occurred when I was watching a DVD that I have watched before

I have looked on some sights and it appears that I may have to adjust something but I need to be told how to in laymen's terms

Our local dentist surgery has recently set up a new decontamination room which now says he doing what is called (best practice) according to the HTM015 manual.

This is to ensure the patient gets the best protection from cross infections. Now what I would like to know is, could anybody tell me if he is now allowed to stop using this room and revert back to the old practice of cleaning the equipment in the surgery where the patient is being treated?

I know this is probably one of the strangest questions on yahoo as it will need a qualified dental technician to answer it so any answers would be appreciated.

well its my wife's actually. since we've had it she has always complained how slow it responds. (start up, browsing, gaming,only solitaire I might add) Its as standard nothing has been changed, i e ram. so what I am asking is will it make it any faster if I upgrade the Ram at the moment it only has about 500 mb of ram. and if so were would the best place be to purchase more ram and what would be the correct amount of ram to put in without going mad

When I set the heating or the water to come on I get two lights flashing simultaneously if i turn the control knob to reset it then fires up. Although resetting it for the water doesn't work, I have to turn the control knob off completely and the the water heater fires up. then all runs normal until I need the heat or water again anybody got any ideas please?

Ps when the c/ heating or water is heating up the lights go onto normal mode (one continuous light)

My T V (lcd) has played up for quite a while. What happens is the sound comes on but no picture. If I turn it of and on again then normally the picture comes on But last night I had to turn it of and on again a few times and eventually the picture came on.

It has quite a good picture when its on and it never goes off while I'm watching it, it's just after its been left for some time, say a day or so that is when it plays up (any ideas anyone) please

apparently Hotmail in its infinite wisdom is changing to Outlook (why) don't answer that!

my question is I am still using Live mail log in which takes me to my Hotmail address I thought that everyone was going to be transferred over to outlook by the summer, whether you want to or not, so why am I still on Hotmail.com I had an email telling me about the change but nothing has happened was I supposed to do something myself to change it over? Not that I want to change if I can help it as it (outlook) has had very bad reviews. So can anybody put me in the picture.

One more thing I have just gone back to using Hotmail after being on Gmail for a while I just couldn't get on with Gmail with all the adverts splashed all over the screen etc. plus I have got in touch with all my contacts telling them that I have changed back to my old Hotmail.com address.

When installing freezer gas into a domestic freezer after a component is fitted ie compressor, is there a need to pull a vacuum into the system to get rid of all impurities and moisture before the new gas is installed. As when you fit a new component onto a car A/C system.

The reason I ask is I have just had a new compressor fitted to my freezer and since then it takes forever to cool down after putting fresh food into it, it has an alarm on it to tell me when the temperature is too high and it takes about 12/24 hours to reach the correct temperature. it never did this before the compressor was installed. cheers in advance.

I have already asked this question but must have entered it on the wrong ask section.

I have recently had the Compressor break on my Freezer and I had to have a new one fitted by a freezer engineer (the insurance wouldn't cover the price of fitting a new compressor) so I got an independent repairer to fit the new one. Well my question is. when re gassing the system was the engineer supposed to evacuated the system before installing the fresh aircon gas?

The reason I ask is since the job has been done, whenever we refill the freezer with fresh food after a (big) shop. The freezer isn't completely empty by the way. the alarm buzzer goes off telling me that the temp has dropped down. and it stays like that for at least 12-24 hours. I am sure that it shouldn't be doing this as it never did before I had the compressor fitted. The reason I mentioned evacuating the system is because I am an licensed aircon engineer for motor vehicles and whenever we fitted any new component on the aircon system I would have to pull a deep vacuum on the system to make sure there was no impurity in with R134

Gas.

I have noticed recently that there is what looks like a seal on the inside of the door of my microwave oven but this seal is hard and looks like its plastic dark grey in colour it fits loosely in a grove. Well the problem is that a few months ago i notice a crack in this seal and today a small peice has actually broken off leavng a gap in this seal (if that is what i is) has anybody got any idea where i can get a new one. and is it dangerous to carry on using the microwave part of the oven. The oven is a hotpoint MC51 950 watt its getting on in years but still in good working order
