  • I'm getting an ultrasound for my stomach pain, what should I expect?

I'm a 17 year old girl. It's not because I'm having a baby or anything, it's because I have nausea and pain and since they've done many tests with not many answers, they think that this will help. But what will they do? How do I prepare, and what will they ask me to do? Thank you in advance! :)

  • Am I demisexual or asexual or neither?

I don't really get "crushes" on people. I haven't been romantically attracted to someone for a very long time. But sometimes I have sexual attraction for my best friend or other people that I'm very close to.

I get uncomfortable with sexual advances so at first I thought maybe asexual. But I also am aroused if I see a sex scene on TV, and that's not something that normally happens to either.

Am I just not ready for sex or a relationship? (I'm 17.) Am I worrying too much over it?

  • My very good friend has a crush on me and I don't like him back?

We're 17 years old now and I've known him since we were about 12. We've grown to be better friends lately and we can talk for hours about anything. I really like to talk to him and hang out but lately he has been making "subtle" comments about dating and calling me beautiful and stuff like that. I don't feel that way about him at all. I'm sorry, but I can't force that feeling and I think it would be worse to "give him a chance" when I don't feel like that. I also don't want to ruin our friendship (I know, it sounds cliche). So what can I do about this?

  • Would I be considered a nanny or a babysitter?

I guess it's not really important, but I'm just wondering. I'm turning 17 in a week or so, and I've been watching these kids since I was 12. There were 3 of them then, and there are 4 of them now. The oldest, a boy, is 9, and the rest are girls, ages 2, 5, and 7. When I was younger I was called a "mother's helper", but I don't know. Am I too young to be called a nanny?

After these years, the family and I are extremely close. When they go camping, I go with them to watch the kids since it's a big place and they run everywhere. I also watch them at the pool and at the library. I read with them and play with them of course, and put them to bed. I often sleep over at their house.

Sorry if this is a stupid question! No mean answers, though, please!

  • Is this too childish for a 16/17 yr old's present?

I'm thinking of presents for my best friend's birthday party. We've been friends for ten years and I want it to be kind of meaningful. Someone suggested that I give her a little book of "reasons why I love you" or "reasons you're my best friend" or whatever. I think it would be cute and it would definitely be better than getting her lotion or something like that. But do you think it is stupid or too childish?

  • How to talk to someone about texting/using phone while driving?

I'm 16 years old, and I babysit for a woman that I know. She sometimes picks me up, and we always go places - to the store, the library, camping, etc. I've known her a long time and I love her but whenever we go places she uses her phone while driving. It's not always texting, but sometimes it is. Sometimes it's checking something. It makes me nervous because I don't think she really thinks of it as dangerous, although there have been times when we've swerved or I have to say her name to get her to look up. I'm kind of a non-confrontational person and I haven't said much about it, but I feel that it's my responsibility and it's wrong not to. I'm worried for her, her four kids, me, and other drivers and people. I feel like she'll get offended, so how do I bring it up in a way that is kind and not accusatory?

  • How to get the 9 yr old I babysit to respect me?

I'm a 16 year old girl and I babysit a 9 year old boy. He's a good kid, but he doesn't listen. I genuinely do like him, it's not that we don't get along, but he has 3 younger sisters and he kind of does what he wants. He's fine with stuff like bedtime and videogame time but he can be quite mean to this 5 year old girl that sometimes comes over to play, and even when I look him in the eye and tell him to stop, he just doesn't listen. It also can be hard to play games with all four of them because he wants to get rough and physical and he makes it not so fun for the little girls.

I'm not really a yeller, and I don't know if this has anything to do with it but I'm only 5'1. (does that make a difference?)

Does anyone have any advice? I want to be on good terms with him but I need him to respect my decisions also. Should I just get over my dislike of shouting at people or is there some other way? Thanks!

  • Who has been your female role model in life?

I mean in real life, like someone you know. For me it was some of my teachers and my employer. I look up to them.

  • I think I might be a lesbian...any advice?

I'm a 16 year old girl, and I've always thought of myself as straight. I mean, I come from a religious family and my old school was super religious too, so I didn't even think about it. But lately I'm not sure. I've had the same best friend for about 10 years, and lately I've been thinking about her differently. This sounds creepy, so don't judge me, but she's such a genuinely good person, and I just want to touch her skin sometimes. She is really beautiful and kind, and I think I might be attracted to her, but at the same time I just don't know.

I don't have any experience with this, so what do I do? Any advice would be appreciated!

  • Can I put other types of fish in my glofish aquarium?

It is 10 gallons and it comes with a kit. It has a universal aquarium light with 24 blue LEDs. Could I put other types of fish in it, and if so, what types would be compatible?

  • Does a music artist's personality affect whether you like them or not?

I'm just wondering because I know that sometimes it affects me, although it may sound weird. Obviously the primary thing is the music, but if I find out that a singer has an awesome personality it gives me even more reason to like them. Does anyone agree?

  • What do you think of Hayley in The Vampire Diaries/The Originals?

First of all, I want to say that I think Phoebe Tonkin is a brilliant actress. I've loved her in everything in which I've seen her but I think ANY actress would have a hard time playing such a empty, void-of-personality character. It's a shame because there were a lot of possibilities with Hayley, and I feel like Julie Plec just threw her in there and tried to convince the fandom that she's an important character. I do like her a little, but the fact is that Julie Plec has given us no reason to root for her. She has no likeable qualities.

I like Caroline and Klaus together but I'm also kind of interested to see where the baby storyline will lead.

I also hope Phoebe Tonkin gets a good role soon, one that displays her excellent acting abilities!

  • Why is it romantic when 2 guys fight over 1 girl but pathetic when 2 girls fight over 1 guy?

I've always thought of this, because there are a lot of examples of this in television and movies.

  • Is ulceritive colitis genetic?

I'm worried about this because my mom has it and it's extremely painful. I'm 15 years old and when I was ten I started getting excruciating stomach pain. It's lessened since then but it's still there. Is it genetic? Should I see a doctor about it even though I'm only 15?

  • Do you think Twisted is a good new show?

At first it seemed to have promise, but now nothing is happening in the show. The characters are pretty cliche too. (In my opinion) Lacey is pretty much the least annoying character to me. I'm still watching it to see if it goes anywhere, but I don't know if I'll keep watching in the long run. What do you think?

  • What do you think about the "atheist monument"?

It just seems a little strange to me. I mean, what's the point? I would expect atheists to work against or for things that matter, not a "monument". What do you think about it?
