I'm trying to get a stubborn friend to join Facebook. He finally agreed... IF I can get 1,000 people to join this group ("1000 people to get James Mildren to join Facebook!" http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=60619649884)... We have 99 people as of writing this question, so we still need 900 more. Help!

2 AnswersBiology1 decade agoHow can I make my computer keyboard switches back to the German style?
I am an American living and working in Germany. At work sometimes, when I am editing a Word document that I created on my American laptop, the keyboard input changes to the American style.
I suspect that there is some key combination that I accidentally press, because it doesn't happen all the time, and it doesn't start right when I open a document.
Do you know that key combination so that I can switch back to the keyboard layout I have in front of me (German)?
1 AnswerOther - Computers1 decade agoCan you identify these building in London on Victoria street near Westminster Abbey?
I was just in London and took a couple pictures of buildings that I am sure have titles (like Westminster Abbey or Scotland Yard HQ), but I failed to note them. Do you know what they are called?
Building 1: http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e66/xgravity23/I...
Building 2: http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e66/xgravity23/I...
The true best answer will provide a link verifying the names.
Thanks!
3 AnswersLondon1 decade agoWhat should I do: light and then no period while on NuvaRing?
I am married and on NuvaRing. I had a very light period last month and none this month, even though I have used NuvaRing precisely as prescribed (so I have a hard time believing that I am actually pregnant).
I haven't taken a pregnancy test yet, but I am scheduled to put the ring in tomorrow. Should I go off the birth control in case I am pregnant, or will it not harm the baby if I am on it a little bit longer?
2 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoWhen does the organist practice at the Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool?
I will be there in March and I would love to be able to hear the organ. Unfortunately, there are no concerts when we will be in town, so I was wondering if the practices are open to the public, and, if so, when they are.
6 AnswersLiverpool1 decade agoIs there a web site...?
... where I can type in any two actors' names and then it will show me all of the projects (films, TV shows, anything in between) they have been involved in together? If not, can you create it using the IMDB? And then credit me as coming up with the idea? :)

1 AnswerOther - Internet1 decade agoWhy is ZoneAlarm blocking Box.net?
I trust ZoneAlarm's reasoning most of the time, I mean, I don't think they would put a site on there without reason. Does anyone know that reason? Should I stop using Box. net?

8 AnswersMovies1 decade agoIs it okay to wear black socks with brown slacks and brown dress shoes?
I don't have any brown socks and I don't see many brown socks at the stores or on other people. Is it fashionably okay to wear this combination, or are people secretly laughing at me?
9 AnswersFashion & Accessories1 decade agoShould I floss before or after using mouthwash?
My order is usually this:
1. Brush teeth
2. Floss
3. Mouthwash
I do it this way because I figure that floss gets all the bad stuff cleaned off, and the mouthwash can get in the newly de-plaqued spots and disinfect.

12 AnswersDental1 decade agoWhy does cotton candy taste so darn good?!?
It's just sugar! Is it the melting and spinning process that gives it that unique flavor? Or is there some combination of flavorings that is always added to make it taste the way it does?
7 AnswersOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoCan my printer print on overhead projection sheets?
I have a Brother HL-5140 and I've search the internet, but cannot find out if this printer will print on the overhead projection "paper" or if it will melt the plastic sheets. Can anyone with this printer tell me? Or can someone tell me what wording to look for on a list of printer specs that will tell me? Thanks!
5 AnswersPrinters1 decade agoCan you help me figure the value of a weighted grade?
I'm usually pretty good with math, but my brain is wasted at this point in the semester!
QUESTION:
What percentage of my total grade would an assignment be if it is worth 5% of an assignment that is worth 25% of the course grade?
EXAMPLE:
The entire project is worth 25% of my course grade. The component parts of the assignment are as follows:
* Proposal = 5%
* Rough draft = 5%
* Presentation = 10%
* Final draft = 80%
Are the proposal and rough draft both worth 1.25% of my entire class grade, since 1.25 is 5% of 25?
(PLEASE NOTE: the "Best Answer" will not only provide the answer, but will also show the math that goes along with it so that I can _understand_ what I need to do to calculate this in the future on my own.)
2 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoHow long would you expect me to be able to run if I called myself a "long-distance runner" and why?
And I mean if you walked up to me on a regular day and asked me to run X miles to prove that I was a long-distance runner. I'm not asking about something I would have to train for, like a marathon (26.2 miles), but a run that I should be able to do as a long-distance runner without a special training program.
Be sure to share your reasoning! :) Thanks.
10 AnswersRunning1 decade agoMark Twain questions: How many times... (looking for FACT not OPINION)?
How many times does the "N word" appear in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn?
I'm in a graduate-level Mark Twain lit class right now, and my prof alluded to this fact, but I can't find it on the Internet. Can anyone help me find a reliable source that gives this information?
JUST A FEW CAUTIONS BEFORE ANSWERING:
* No, I am not going to count as I read the book, so don't tell me that.
* I am not asking you your opinion on the use of the N word. This question is seeking source-supported fact. If you don't have a source, and you're not actually providing a number, please don't answer.
* I am not looking for a debate on whether the word should or shouldn't be used, whether its offensive, right, wrong, degrading, or otherwise.
Please post your opinion somewhere else. This is Yahoo! ANSWERS. I am looking for an ANSWER.
4 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoHow can I make a group writing project more fair?
I teach university-level Writing II and we will be doing group writing project. I am now sure, however, how much I can control this, but I am looking for some ideas to help ensure that my the project is fair for all of the students. I think I'll give a survey at the end, so students can tell me if one or two students slacked. I'll be giving both individual and group grades. Any other ideas? Thanks!
